Huawei Backup

If you, like me, think that when it backs up apps that it also remember the settings, you'd be mistaken. If you backup you photos to the cloud, like I do, then this app doesn't really serve a purpose. Edit: Not to mention that now I cannot even restore the backup as I get an error on the computer: "The Backup app is running on your device. Close it and try again". Needless to say, closing it does not help.

After having to change to another phone this year, I realized that all my backups from 2019 and 2020 have errors or incomplete data. That never happened before, with that version when the program icon was still there. I trusted you and you made me loose so much important data! Older version was better. Even Android itself.

So now I can't do a backup as the option to choose where to backup to, e. G. My SD card, doesn't appear any longer. UPDATE: I uninstalled the app from the play store screen, reinstalled it and presto! - the functionality returned - until I updated the update at which point the options to update to external storage or SD card disappeared again. Also, in what universe do you get the screens that you show above? No response to any of these complaints. Typical, I fear.

Was a great app - easy and strong - but getting worse recently. 1. Please bring back the option to back up without encryption. I want to be able to get back at least some of my data even without Huawei device / app. 2. Please bring back the desktop icon. It's really annoying to search for the backup app throughout the settings.

2 days ago I sent my phone to fix, so I had to use Huawei Backup to external storage and did factory reset. When I got my phone back, I restored. Almost all apps came back, but photos and documents can't be read. They are in unrecognized format. What should I do? Are they broken or are they still encrypted? The password was correct, but files can't be read.

Excelent idea, bad execution. I loved the app because its said I could backup my files to my PC through SMB/NetBIOS but that doesn't work. It detects fine my pc but when I try to connect with user/password and hit "Ok" it says: "Make sure your device and phone are connected to the same network", and yes, I'M SURE THEY'RE BOTH IN THE SAME NETWORK.

It was a great app, but with the updates it has had some bugs. I have a Huawei phone and it doesn't work properly. With older versions I had things that now doesn't work, such as: 1: An icon on the desktop 2: Ability to backup WiFi names and passwords 3: Ability to backup App data Any of the numerous updates (since 2018 aprox) has fixed that bugs. PS: My phone is a Huawei P8 Lite (2015) with EMUI 4.0.3

Was fine until the forced encryption of data. Now I can't access the backed up photos on my PC as I used to do before. The PC Opens the previous back up photos fine but will not open the new backups. Please take the enforced encryption off and revert back to the optional version. Deleted and reinstalled as requested. Still forcing the password and unable to view the backed up photo files on the PC like the previous version. PLEASE REVERT BACK TO THE ORIGINAL OPTIONAL PASSWORD VERSION.

The latest update is an abomination. It can no longer find my USB storage which is connected via the OTG port. But worse than that, it no longer backs up anything from my SD card and that is where most of my changeable data resides. I want the old version back.

Terrible would not recommend. I did a back up so I could reset my phone as the touchscreen had stopped working then when I went to upload my back up the software kept saying incorrect password even though it definitely is correct. I looked on forums and so many people are having this problem and all Huawei says is there's nothing they can do and you should remember your password. I use a password manager so it's definitely correct. Terrible service, don't use this back up software.

After my phone randomly crashed on me and would only start up in emergency mode, I was forced to back up my data on this app. It wouldn't allow me to accept the settings needed to use it so after hours of trying to fix the problem I had to reset my phone. Safe to say I've lost all my data and this app was literally useless.

The most recent update, as to 2 Jan 2022 is called "Cloud Backup", begs you to buy more storage because it's trying to backup your whole photo gallery. It doesn't let you exclude your gallery. Annoying messages continue to pop up even though you disable them. I had to uninstall the updates and force-stop the app.

10.0.1.350 - again very bad release... Nothing really changed, starting from the totally useless and unfeasible encryption without no other choice. Again, the release won't find neither shared dirs on PCs nor on our two QNAP NAS, only try to find shares on our DVB-T/C receiver. As already mentioned, still no backup of contacts, messages, calendar data and photos/videos even though selected for backup.

When one installs this App the original backup app that came with the phone disappears. You're no longer able to backup to external memory and can only backup to Google Drive. Not good at all. I had to do a factory reset to regain the original backup app to be able to backup to external memory. I now ignore any backup update from Google play.

I don't see anything wrong with this application as stated in the previous comments according to me. With the latest update of this app connected to my PC, my huawie P8 and everything I chose to backup are safe on my PC and it can easily be restored back into the phone without any problem. Just update the Hisuit on your PC and you're good to go. Thanks huawie, I'm not afraid of formatting my phone in case of any problem.

Wish I could give a zero rating... Cannot backup/connect my P10 to the latest Windows app no matter what I do. All settings set as required but app doesn't connect to phone at all, so I can't access/backup my data via HiSuite. Highly upset!!! Also can't seem to access it directly either, nor get it to backup via my WiFi. Next step laborious manual copying over of individual files to an SD card - I will NEVER buy a Huawei again!

To all users. Do not update to any version greater than 9. You will be forced to use encryption. That is not an option. (Use encryption, forget password, useless backup). The app does not backup everything, Smart Remote for example. I had to stick with the latest version of 9 series. Otherwise the application works great for me.

Having the same problem as others here, namely being told that I must update through Google Play Store, which tells me I have the current version. I'll update the review if I figure out what the issue is. Not very happy, though, as I want to backup and reset my phone. 9/23/19 UPDATE: The app is working now. I noticed that there was a difference in version between the PC and the Phone. I uninstalled the software from both the phone and PC, then rebooted both. Then I went to the website and installed the previous version of Huawei Backup on my PC and connected the phone. The PC installed the software onto the phone and it worked again. Now it's working fine, so I'm updating my review to reflect 4 stars, which is above average. I have not yet had to use the software to recover my phone data, so until I can do that, I won't know enough to be able to give it 5 stars.

First time Huawei user (P30/EMUI 10), not so impressed with their apps and service. Backup app installed/reinstalled, but cannot open app on phone, the open button disappears as soon as the app is installed, and not listed in my apps. Contacted Huawei support but they seem oblivious to the issue, offered no solution for backing up files automatically to Huawei Cloud/Drive. Good thing Google is still working seamlessly with this device/software so far, so I'll use Google backup services instead.

Not recommended to use it, untill existing issue is not resolved. Experienced, very much bad. The new update which has been released on 30 Sep 19 is very much bad. Now icon of the app is no longer available. Then how a user can backup his sms, calls or other apps etc on SD Card? Whereas, there is only option to backup his data on Google drive, which is not recommended by everyone. So resolve this issue immediately, please.

If I can rate it by 0 I would. They're backup was only limited to the camera and videos from the phone. The other photos stored on your phone won't be included. I cannot retrieve those precious photos anymore since i reset the phone and was too confident it was copied and back up. Pls never use huawei cloud service. It is no use.

I find it useful as back up data, onto a sd card, works OK for all contacts, messages, apps, like game data, so I accasionally use it. But at the moment I have uninstalled the app into games library, as I have no space on my device, and trying to make some space for other systems apps. No problems with this app, as I will install again at a later date.

One star is generous. App does not work no matter what I try. I have updated, un-installed, re-installed and still get the error that I need to install the latest version of Backup!! Huawei support have not been able to solve the problem and keep telling me to do what I have already done. This needs to be sorted out ! I enjoy my Huawei, but if this kind of garbage continues, its back to Samsung.

Earlier today I uninstalled back to factory setting twice and restarted this device so that the icon came back and I could run a backup. But then this app update removed the icon for the app and now I cannot run backup. Now I will fix it again, and not update the app, hopefully you can fix the bug?

PLEASE FIX URGENTLY Got 5 Huaweis. LOVED this 2 start with - 1 of reasons I continued 2 buy as could transfer data quickly & easily when I change Mob & could often revert 2 previous version of an app if new 1 playing up. Now depending on version if I use it says password wrong when correct, latest update makes icon disappear so can't find let alone open even via Play Store (is this due 2 Google & Huawei probs??) & won't let me select specific items 2 restore. Thought SD card corrupted but isn't!

The worst Huawei service. This app backed up, or tried to back up, it's not clear, my phone including gallery filling the free 5GB allowance. I then disabled backup of gallery but it will no longer backup saying cloud space nearly full. However, there doesn't seem to be a backup in the cloud for me to delete, or possibly it's still including my gallery in it's estimated space a backup would use. Either way I'm stuffed and it won't backup. I refuse to pay for more storage for a faulty service

Doesn't install DEVELOPERS need to check this. I have HISUITE installed on my laptop & I tried to do backup but it says I need to download this Huawei Backup app but when u press install it goes to 99% then stops & doesn't install. I've tried this a few times now still the same. I've noticed few other people have said the same & having the same problems. When I had a Samsung handset it wasn't this hard to backup ur phone since I've been with Huawei it's been a nightmare might go back to Samsung.
