Hue Pro

Seems to be abandoned. I've been using this app for a few years now and was originally a fan. I recently moved and set all my lights up again and started setting up animation presets again. Unfortunately, the don't seem to run unless I have the app open and phone unlocked. After spending awhile troubleshooting and checking permissions, I realized this app hasn't even been updated in almost 2 years. Guess I'll look for something else.

Latest update fully breaks the app once power was lost to the bridge. It will then search for the bridge for ever, not letting you into the app, without giving you the chance to search on the network. Unless you have a complete backup of your settings, enjoy reconfiguring the app once you manually delete all "data" to get it to start again. You will even have to re-authorize the bridge.

At one time it was the best app for controlling your lights. But time has moved on and this app hasn't. Bulbs are presented as an unsorted list that can't be reordered. Presets are stored locally by default, and stick around if you switch bridges which makes no sense. Has bug that mixes up lights in presets, causing the wrong lights to come on. Settings don't transfer properly to second devices. Managing bridge resources is practically impossible because of the lousy interface. The list grows longer and now the developer is AWOL. Use something else.

It was a good app once. But now you have to have a notification on at all times for it to work, until you restart your phone, then the widgets don't work until you open the Hue pro app itself. For the tasker you have to have another notification always on... And it crashes when you try to set a preset. Basically they haven't updated it since forever, and they do not respond to email feedbacks anymore. Save your money and look elsewhere as it seems the devs have stopped working on this app.

This app is absolutely perfect! There are a lot of nice features and everything can be configured. For instance the Lava lamp and Music feature. But also the animated presets. And don't forget the numerous widgets which are very handy. Using the widgets you are able to directly change for instance the presets, colors and brightness. Also to switch the lights or groups on or off. I've been using this app now for years and it works very well. I really recommend this app instead of the orig Hue app!

Best app for controlling Hue systems in a useful manner. The custom widgets are awesome (and working again - the developer is very responsive to problems). Scenes are easy to create and edit, and all your data can be exported for back up and/or transfer to other devices (handy when switching phones or cloning settings to other devices you own).

this app actually works better, lights respond much faster than the native hue app. the native app seems to always be connecting the thr hub and you have to wait until it does before your lights respond. hue pro seems to connect to the bridge when you launch the app and does a good job of staying connected until you exit. I've been using this for years so my review is based on a LOT of usage.

Ridiculous app. Yes it provides a clean API for creating animated colour scenes, but any animations only work when the app is open. This means if your phone is turned off, or you're looking at a different app, the animation will stop. What an absolutely ridiculous oversight from the developers. I would have rated much higher if not for this incredible bout of stupidity. Simply unacceptable, the app is essentially unusable now for me.

Okay, I love this app. It can be difficult to use, but that's mostly because there are just so many controls. After a bit of a learning curve though you learn just how many options this app opens up for you. I used the app to setup a widget on my home screen and use my phone as a remote for the lights in my house. Extremely convenient. Would recommend to a friend with a hue bridge.

This is my main Hue app. It's the only app so far that lets me set lights to K temperature, x,y, or select color by touching screen. I use "schedules" to auto fade on in morning w my alarm to wake up. Best wake up. It does everything I need & free w out ads. Lights to music or lava lamp, animated lights, schedule on/off for groups or individual. I hardly use any other Hue apps.

doesnt really work that well. I don't use it there are other apps that seem to work better. I would like a refund if possible. glitchy when controlling 40 lights. setting things on forever loops seems to always stop at some point. I was expecting more from a payed app.

Totally worth it for $2, it's so much better than the stock app. I can finally create and save all the different color presets I want and switch back and forth with ease. The app interface is much more useful and intuitive than what phillips offers for free.

Animated presets cannot end in lights being off, so you can't save a preset to fade lights out, then turn them off after. Schedules/timers work but are no replacement for one touch to fade & sleep. Otherwise one of the best Hue apps with maybe the best widget and easy settings.

Have used for the last 2 years with no problems, particularly like the customisable widgets, however recently the schedule seem to be changing on their own, either the face disappears or the chosen presets changes, very annoying, have had to stop using schedule.

Update - my issue (not all bulbs responded to scheduled events) is fixed. I deleted and recreated the scheduled items. Seems to be good now! And it was easy to do, thanks to the Presets and Groups! This app is fabulous - 1000x better than the official Hue app. Love it! Thanks for the support, Benjamin!

This app is the *only* one with serious widget support. Other functions work as expected, but I have to dock one star since there is zero mention/config for accessory (remote and sensors), and this is pretty standard for other 3rd party Hue app.

Behaves some of the time. It will randomly disconnect from the bridge, and when i try to reconnect with my IP address manually, it still says "unable to establish connection".

great app but the main thing i use it for is to sync with music and it stops working when my screen times out. comes on immediately when i unlock the phone again. is there a setting that will keep it going?

Adding or removing lights causes the rooms in the app to become all screwed up. Mentioned this to the dev a while ago yet nothing has changed. App also hasn't been updated in over a year and a half. Disappointed with the pro version that I paid for.

Some of the effects are cool, but all animated lights stop working right away. Update: Tried the app again about a year later, still has the same problems. Lowered my review to 1 star.

Great, but could be better... I have few issues, but you should have an option to set different bulbs on different timers. I like my living room to be deep sea but I would like my kitchen lights come on in evening as relax. So far this seems impossible to do.. only one alarm setting for all bulbs:(

Tasker commands now completely broken with new update. If you're going to screw with things, at least give us the option to download an earlier version of the app. Some of us relied on this app, and chose it in the first place, for it's reliability.

So I have honestly never had an issue with this app other than when closing the app animations in lights will stop, which since like the middle of the year I think has been remedied so. Ya love these devs! All phones used for reference: Galaxy s5-s8, a few LG phones, and currently my Razer 2.

No longer works I bought this app to stop the ads and it doesn't work properly with the new version of the HUE bridge. Please upgrade this app. 👎💩

Used to be a good app years ago, hasn't been updated or shown any progrssion in years. Can't even change the order bulbs or groups are shown in...looking for an alternative

Love this app, very flexible. The widget control panel is a huge quality of life upgrade over the default hue software.

Used daily, works so well I don't even think about it. Fantastic app, and 125% worth it. Thoroughly better than the stock Hue app. Handles non-Hue Zigbee capable bulbs just fine, as well. I almost never rate and review apps, but this one is so good I feel like I need to!
