Best app I have found for choosing a light group, choosing a colour palette, and then cycling all the lights through that colour palette either in sync or independently. Such a basic thing, can't beleive the Hue app can't do this natively, but here we are. I use this app every day. My only wish is that it had integration with Tasker or Home Assistant or something so that I could automate the effects and integrate them with the rest of my smart home control. The app itself is a bit clunky and hard to figure out, but I only use it for this one feature so it's fine.
One of the most difficult and lacking common sense apps I have ever used. It's like learning a whole new operating system with no consistency. You have to remember how you found something because none of the programmers designed the app in a way that common sense would point you in the right direction. For example, if you want to turn off a scene, to multiple lights, enjoy the journey you are about to go on. I've had app almst a year and spend 10 minutes searching how to turn features off.
This app is by far the best option for smooth color transitions during lava lamp mode that I have come across. Recently I was having issues connecting to the hue bridge with this app during the autodetection, I emailed the devs and they were quick to respond with advice on how to correct the problem. I eventually was able to connect the phones to the app by doing manual IP entry. It is slightly inconvenient to sync this way but it is a worthwhile price to pay for the quality of this app.
Fun, but somewhat confusing app. I love being able to set my lights into colorful motion & I really like being able to sync the color patterns, or have them all doing their own thing. I haven't gotten too much further than being able to set my lights into motion, because everything else is too confusing. Maybe one day I'll take the time to learn, but until then, I'll just enjoy my waterfall of colors!
i do not often write reviews and i have 6 hue apps on my phone, all of which basically do the same exact thing. This app is a refeshing and unique utilization of the lights. Simple interface. The music options are fun to use whether we are entertaining, hanging around the house, playing name that Disney character (from color of light combo), or leaving them on while ww are out during the pm (we have lights in all front facing rooms-- for this very reason!) free version. may purchase..
App worked perfectly for about a month, now the lava's stop after awhile. Additionally it'd be better if it could be used from two devices because as soon as you leave home with your phone, the lava stops so basically you have to run the app on a dedicated android device that's always at home. Fix these problems and I'll be back to upgrade app to 5 stars.
Pretty good. Really need the ability to edit scenes without having to delete and start over. I'd also like to have the ability to create a "program" I can turn on and off. Lot of potential for customization here. Don't yet see the need for the Rooms in this UI.
Excellent free app, but paying for customizing my own lavas broke the app. Now the lava feature is broken, and scrolling through the list crashes the app. The free version is amazing, though. The lava function and saved scenes allows you to set light cues, allowing some amazing customization options.
I use this app frequently. Works well with our hue lights. I use the scheduling feature. It has a trigger option but, would be useful to have a turn off (after certain set-time) option. I hope this feature will be added to the schedule function.
A little hard to understand how to use at first, but I think I have it figured out. It def helps me get the most fun out of the colored bulbs. The music settings are really cool too. overall a great app that I would recommend to anyone who uses the Hue smart bulbs.
Look, I love this app, but it's an absolute eyesore. The icon is gross, and the UI looks terrible and is not intuitive. But damnit, it's the only app that does the lavas well.
It does basically what it says, although the interface is a little difficult to figure out. The big problem is the ads in the notification drawer. I'm not against ads, but they need to stay in the app and out of my notifications
App works well, previous bugs seem to have worked themselves out. Had a little trouble containing lava to just one room, but this may just be me. Would be really helpful to add brightness, white hue and colour slider widgets for the home screen, and maybe a lava on/off switch.
Great app! with more options then the hue app. Ive tried all the others but this one is my favorite. Just wish when you make a alarm or light schedule it would give you the option to turn them back off at a certain time.
Love the app but do you guys make more with ads or without? UPDATE: GREAT app can do so much and you dont really have to remove ads they dont get in the way too much. the one time purchase to remove ads isn't expensive and the app works great and has many good features.
It's not connecting to my IP address. I'm not able to change colors I did not receive a remote with the light bulb. It does connect via Bluetooth for speaker but I have flashing colors instead of being able to set a specific color.
I love this Hue app. Does what it should--and what other apps seem unable to do. UPDATE: I had an earlier issue and was happy to hear from the developers. They were very helpful and engaging...and identified the issue and a solution. My thanks to them for their commitment to the platform and for creating such a cool app. :)
No longer connects to bridge. Unlocked S20 ultra. Used to work great. Clearing app data doesn't work. Uninstall and reinstall desn't work. Other apps connect to the bridge just fine, so it's an app issue. Disappointing. Edit: my wife uses an unlocked S20 plus and the app doesn't work on her phone as well.
New Google Pixel 3. Looks like a nice app, but it won't connect to the bridge. It finds and ID's it quickly, but after tapping the bridge button, won't connect. Other apps have, but this one won't. Edit: I have attempted this multiple times. Uninstalling and reinstalling app, etc. Sorry... wish it worked.
I had this app rated as 5 stars before because it was a free app with basically every lava you can imagine and edit and everything, but now I just found out you need a premium upgrade to change lavas and unlock some lavas??? the whole point of this app was that it was free, it was one of its kind but I guess it's just like any other app now. the ads I don't mind but you have to pay?? cmon man
Seems like a really good hue app with some possibilities, but why is it crashing all the time? On a pixel 2. Had to uninstall. Just crashes every few seconds over and over.
Everytime I open the app, it asks if I want to upgrade to a paid version, I choose "Don't ask me again." I tap that button Every. Single. Time. the app opens. Turns out that button is a lie. It was just annoying enough to find another app.
Does not connect to bulbs with the app. Get the phillips bulbs and wiz app.Controls as many as you have at once and has so many preset color flow options. Uses your own wifi. You can even set wakeup and sleep modes. Dont waste your time with these.
A bit dicey sorting out skills and such initially; in the books I have, not seeing a lot of color variation. The voice control is fun, though.
This used to be the best app for Hue lights. Now it is completely unusable as it won't connect to the bridge no matter what you do. It has been this way for about a year with no fix in sight. This app is now unfortunately just a waste of space.
Wow great app!!!! Does everything it says and is fairly easy to navigate! Doesn't seem to be able to turn on or off lights tho I may not have found that yet. Thanks for the prompt reply guys. Yep it does turn them off that way! Brilliant app!! 😎
Crappy user interface. I started an animated lava sequence and it wouldn't stop even though the app was closed. Forced me to reboot which sucked at the time. I did pay for the use of this app. That didn't really improve anything.
I've been using this app for a number of years and finally decided to leave a review. I'm giving it for stars instead of 5 because the UI could use some freshening up. Setting schedules are a bit counterintuitive (even though I have no trouble now after using it for some time) and the overall look of the app seems more than a bit dated. Otherwise the functionally is great and the utility is very high.
