Only app I use for Hue Lights...allows you to use photos and create a scene based on the colors in the photo. You can adjust the brightness, speed, animations, basically any aspect of lighting.
I do like it, but I can't give it 5 stars because I feel it's missing some features or really needs. For example, being able to reorganize your favorites list, and being able to access the same animation effects from your favorites list as you have from the same effect if chosen from the ambiences section. App has potential, but still needs a little work. Not super user friendly either. Still worth the purchase though, imo.
It's great to have an Ap that provides decent "candle" effects. Some of the other motion effects are pleasant, too. Good romantic and artistic ambiance. The nice surprise for me is that the color blends provided by the AP presets are really well done...much better than I had been able to achieve myself. The less attractive bits are that the interface is awkward, and that sometimes when I try to switch between this Ap and the factory HUE Ap, everything locks up... Requiring a phone restart.
I really like this app. The controls are big and intuitive. And the dynamic lighting modes can't be matched. The video based lighting using the phone camera is not all that useful. Would be nice if it were more nuanced when reading the screen via phone camera, but sometimes better than nothing. The big benefit is that it can read protected video content unlike Hue Synch which directly accesses live and protected video feeds.
Doesn't do sync with my android phone screen, which was the reason I downloaded it. I played around with some other features, but found the controls less intuitive compared to the stock Hue or LIFX apps. The app also surpised me with bright, white light from my hue color and loud music from my phone when I picked the waterfall sleep assist ambiance. (There is a global mute setting, though.)
I am trying out this app for the first time. I like the scenes and all the options, but no matter what I do the scenes will only run for 2 minutes. I have tried changing the duration over for different scenes and light configurations but all to no avail. That's no use to anyone. Happy to change my rating if I can find a solution
Was so impressed by the functionality of this app, that I purchased it right away. The ability to control two Hue Bridges without having to switch between them is well worth the price of admission. In addition, the video sync function is very impressive, particularly when used with rapid scene changes on the video source. Highly recommend it.
Not often I bother writing a review on an app as there are so many poor ones out there. Even more rare is I pay for the pro version as quite often it's the same app without adds. However this app is an exception. Fantastic control of hue lights. They do things I wouldn't have thought possible. The mobile schemes are superb. Definitely the best hue control out there. Look forward to future development and definitely worth the small outlay. Well done guys (and ladies) Great app!
I like the features and the app's ability to trigger certain effects using the motion sensors and I like the range of different settings (or experiences), colours schemes (or ambiences) but I'd really like it to be able to trigger ambiences or experiences based on the temperature of the sensors and I'm not sure that the experiences can be muted. Sometimes I just want the light show. I bought the paid version so also could live without the "pro" banners on the experiences. Yet, still worth it.
Why isn't the official Signify Hue app as good as this? I bought it to get better control of my motion sensors. This app makes it easy to have the motion sensors act more sensibly and not keep switching to things you don't want. The control for dimmers and smart buttons is far superior too. Then there's nice little touches like disco etc. All in all, this app rocks. Add in a control to temporarily turn off motion sensors or or some sort of over-ride to the day, evening, night - perfect.
By far the best apps I have used. Wasted time and coins on other mediocre apps. Apps is packed full of feature that am sure will delight everyone. Best part is that you get soooo much more in the free apps then others. Paid version (meager) compared to what I have spent so far. And no, am not a bot or paid. Just very please!. Unless missed it, it would be awesome if we can get a scene or effect with a ramping sunrise 🌅, peak in afternoon, then ramps down to sunset 🌇. That would be awesome.
Works well, supports my two hue bridges and their lights which didn't work with each others lights as different versions of hue. Phillips app is incompatible with every device I own, but this app let me set it all up. I may be able with the Phillips app to merge down to a single bridge and put the spare away, but I'm not buying a new phone just for that. This app gives full control over both bridges without having to always swap.
This is pretty much the only Hue app I have been using- mostly because it seems to have everything that a Hue can basically do. The only issue I have is with the UX. Things could be easier to get to, or configure. Favorites shown in the home page does make things a little bit easier though.
UPDATE: They fixed the update error within a day. Wow! Right back to 5 stars 'cause it is by far the best Hue app! OLD: I have a few Hue apps, only one of which I liked until I got this one! Definitely purchase the full version. Makes it so easy to explore various color schemes. Clear and intuitive to use. Thanks! Good job!
Everything was working fantastic until I had the decorators in and the hue bridge had to be unplugged. Now I've plugged the bridge back in, the app constantly says it can't connect to my bridge. Not happy :( can anyone help? Please? I'm editing because I've tried what you've suggested I do. Unfortunately it still won't work :( It keeps saying 'your hue bridge could not be connected, ensure you press the link button within 30 seconds' .... The app won't connect to the bridge.
Way too difficult to use, needs a serious UX overhaul. All I wanted to do is set my hue lights to dynamically change brightness or other effect, but its not clear how to choose a room, extend the time on an effect, and touching anything but the small controls will take you back to the scene selection (which was a dumb feature from the beginning in the original hue app, Hue has already tried fixing it)
Typical programmer's lack of empathy. It will take you a while to find how to switch lights on/off (Nb There is a small blue icon, poorly visible against a dark background on top right of the screen). Esoteric terms in settings not explained in the 'Help'. What do 'Globally mute sounds', or 'Launch to l Light Control' mean? Can TRADFRI be used simultaneously with Hue? Does have some 'Experience' not found inHue, like Disco...
Find it confusing to stop/start experiences and ambience why can't it be simple like a remote control play/pause/stop. The experience of disco kept stopping when phone screen saver kicked in. I do like the extra remote program features. And do enjoy the extra features the basic Philips hue app doesn't have.
Like what they are doing, but would love it if it worked like Hue Sync on my XBOX ONE, and synced the lights with what I'm watching. EDIT: The developer explained to me that Microsoft would have to make some changes for this to happen. That being said, this app is pretty awesome for what it can do.
The best app I have found for Philip's hue. I have over 20 lights in my home. I sync them to countess photos and smoothly animate the lights to cycle through the colors of the photos. There support team is non responsive and I have reached out to them a few times with no response. All up I am still giving them 5 stars.
Some UI issues but better than the stock Hue app
Can't use scenes created in the default hue app. Edit: There is no "Save" button in the top right of the app and none of the buttons import scenes. You can only create new "Ambiences" based on a photo from the internet or from the current light settings.
The features of the app are fantastic and go far beyond the official Hue app. The only downside is that the app seems to run in the background and drain the phone battery a decent amount when effects are on. I would still easily recommend it.
Bought two Hue Go lights last year and then a third and a fourth then a fifth and sixth. Used the BT app and it was good but got the bridge and downloaded hueDynamic. This has so much functionality. Need to see how to increases the effects time limit but love the different ambience settings. This app is a must if you have the bridge and multiple lights.
While there is alot of interesting features the UI is the really lacking factor in this app. You'll have to play around clicking random things and settings and controls just to get something to work the correct way. Annoying but useful if you really want something...
All I really wanted was a way to slowly just transition between different colours in a loop, but unless I'm missing something this app doesn't have that? Would be great for some more basic animations instead of the overcomplicated "experiences".
Love this app for controlling multiple rooms at once, with great effects and scenes. Lowered to a 4 due to not having updates. The Hue app is finally updating and adding new scenes and capabilities. It would be great for the Hue partners to do the same.
