Probably the best mobile app I've ever purchased - seriously. Basically does everything you expected you could do with Hue lamps (and more) but you simply can't without software like this. The disco mode is great and the experiences are a lot of fun. It's all very professionally done too and simple to use - unlike many other Hue apps. A year after buying the PRO version, I happened to need assistance with an issue moving to a new phone and the support was second-to-none, unparalleled in fact. If you've got a few Hue lamps, buy this and realise their potential!
Bugs (HUE) and no answer from the developer, even after 3 weeks and 2 mails. Seeing how long it's been since this app was updated and other users reporting bugs as well, I can't recommend this app. The bugs I experienced are related to some basic usage concerning the creation of custom scenes/ambiences (to dim or change to certain colors etc). There is even at least one light which can't be turned off/on even though it works without problems in the official hue app. A pity.
So far I've seen some bugs but worth it. Purchased the upgrades and it wouldn't let me download the actual Pro version, so I requested a refund and bought the Pro version, only down side is, I lost me $2 Play Credits I had, so I am at a loss of $2. Would be nice to get it back from Google, not the developer. Will report back later. -Samsung Galaxy S10 Android 10
Utterly fantastic app. This is what the default hue app should have been! A little fiddly to setup and learn (for some reason I had to manually set my bridge IP as the auto detect refused to work, and had some small light issues) but that aside it does everything I want and more. The ambience section in particular is amazing. I held off on writing a review for a few months till I was 100% sure it was working solidly and I knew what on earth I was doing but am happy to say its almost flawless. A*
day 1 so far so good. autodetected bridge. caused hilarity by shouting in disco mode. purchased for camera sync as i haven't got windows 10 for hue sync. works well. for a 5 star mega rating: better, context sensitive help pages for each menu are needed and in ambiences or experiences; casting the audio somewhere else like a google mini and having a themed photo cast to a screen would be the multicolour icing on the cake. 18 months in - still ace. still missing some nice visuals to cast maybe
I have installed quite a few philips hue play lighting in my home and out of all the controlling light apps, the disco element is great. I watch a lot of YouTube videos at the weekend so the lighting atmosphere is key and this app is great with regards to its interpretation of the beat. Some of the set experiences are a bit naff and could do with a make over, but the lighting effect that you get depending on the number of lighting units you have is awesome. Would recommend
wherever i choose ambience or experiences it says not connected to bridge. then connects to bridge and says fine. then when I select anything it says not connected to bridge. so not worth the 4.99 I paid tbh. and yes I have an excellent mesh wifi system that provides 5 bar connectivity anywhere in the house and halfway down the street. all other hue apps connect no problem.
Amazing App i have to agree with all the other reviews dont wast your time looking at all the other apps just go straight to this one. Disco mode is brilliant get it now for all your Christmas and new years eve party's you will not be disappointed. I asked the developer 3 days ago if it supported tablet and landscape mode, he said it didn't at the moment and then emailed me 3 days later to tell me that tablet and landscape mode had been added what a star. Just need some time to work out all the settings and get my and my wife's head around working the new app on a daily basses. Thanks again MD2 for hueDynamic
After downloading and using this app for a few days I deleted four or five other apps that I no longer needed. This one really does just about anything, and does it well. The developer is great. I emailed about a problem I was having that was specific to Android 9. He was very quick to respond and worked with me for several days to get everything working correctly. He also kept me updated the whole time.
Cool App...but..flawed, settings do not always exactly match hue app settings, some labels do not make sense such as the triangle with " tap me" this appears to increase brightness but it's not intuitive. Some settings do not always save, some conflicts with hue app which requires deletion in hue app first hardware is Google Pixel 5, will continue to use as it is functional and better than hue app.
This does it all. I'm not sure if you need the offical Hue app to do a few things, you might. But other than that, there's no need to go for multiple Hue apps. There are others that are good but some were glitchy and some just weren't comprehensive like this one. If you spent all that money on setting up a Hue light system for your place, do yourself a favor and spend a few buck for the premium version of this app. This will maximize your Hue's capabilities.
Very good and extremely useful. Can be a bit slow when there are a lot of lights and the interface feels a bit dated. Would be a lot better if there was an option to use widgets like the official philips hue app.
Great app for advanced use of switches and motion detector. Superior preconfigured scenes and ambiance modes. Developer is extremely helpful....just 2 major features missing, sunrise/sunset scheduling and no widgets. If these were implemented this would be the only hue app on my device.
Works fine on my Samsung note 10 plus. Also works on my Samsung tablets, Tab S6 and Tab S3. Lots of options and settings make for a moderately steep learning curve. Hue Dynamic Capture Agent works well on my Windows 10 computer and syncs the colors of my seven Family Room bulbs to whatever is showing on my desktop display which adds another dimension when watching certain types of NSFW video content. All in all, well worth the $5.50 I paid for the Pro, ad-free version. Highly recommended.
The main problem is that the app fails to identify all my dommer switches (Hue Essentials does it just fine). I also find the UI extremely confusing but I suppose it could be a matter of taste. Play Store refuses to issue a refund :(
Disco mode is customisable, ambient light settings are very good as well as the Experience mode has many settings paired with sounds. I gave it a 5 because I am very happy to finally be able to enjoy the great effects. Thank you app team.
Excellent support so far thanks to direct communications with the dev'. Besides purchasing hueDynamic for Android I also ended up purchasing the Windows 10 app so that I can experiment from either my laptop or any of my tablets & phone. Looking forward to seeing what features will be added going forward. :)
i absolutely love this app & agree that there is no need for any other hue app, im still having an issue with it NOT allowing me to use it with my chromebook?? Unsure why? It installs but unable to click on any tab? I also have Family Library & should be able to use it that way, but that as well, will not work. I keep it on my phone, & just love all the different ways i can put my lights to use, if i could just get it to work on everything else id be even happier!
Why does the app not allow me to turn on Experiences using my Hue Tap? Why only ambiances and scenes? Makes no sense, and it's quite annoying being able to choose all my favorite scenes with my Hue Tap EXCEPT hueDynamic experiences. Also, why must I pay AGAIN for the desktop version of the app? A single payment should unlock everywhere. Edit: Since dynamic experiences are not yet supported in the Hue API, this app implements pretty much everything currently supported by the API. Good app. 4 stars because I'd rather pay once for cross-platform access.
The best Hue app I've used so far, and I have most of them . So easy to use, nice smooth transitions and great effects. 28 Sept 2021 - still using this app! Still my go to Hue app. So responsive and the numerous effects will suit any mood!!!
Works as desired. Cool app. Works with Windows 10, too. I love that. Used to have a "push button on hub" feature. I miss that. It was super convenient. Hopefully it will be brought back.
I love this app, way more versatile than the default Philips one. And really useful to be able to 'press the bridge button' in the app as my bridge is on the attic. Also the developers replied to my last review and sorted my only minor issue. Thanks
Disco option is tight. I am not sure if I have the configuration down for the video option but it's cool to have. I would love to get advice about better configuration if you have some.
Great 3rd party app for Hue Lights. It really shows off what the lights are capable of, and has many features that the native Hue app should have. Great price for an exceptional app!
Purchased as the trial version wouldn't run due to needing an update that it refused to update. Seems like the app offers more powerful options than the stock app, but I mainly wanted the ability to set one of the dynamic scenes as a wake-up light (like the flashing red alert scene for example if I was running late) to help me wake up on time. Unfortunately the app doesn't allow this, and so is not useful for my purpose.
