Human Rights Mapper

Human Rights Mapper is a specialized application aimed at aiding legal professionals, researchers and others interested in the topic of human rights with new tools to work with European Court of Human Rights judgements.

We are offering new kinds of search engines and filters to better understand the jurisprudence of the ECtHR. Our app uses the resources of the HUDOC Database - the official database of ECtHR. All documents in this app are the property of the ECtHR and have been published in its portal in accordance with Article 44 (3) of the ECHR and can be reproduced provided an acknowledgement of the source.

This programme is merely trying to supplement existing tools but it is based on data gathered by HUDOC. This app uses only metadata of the ECtHR judgements - thus, it is designed for different research than HUDOC, which offers full-text search.

This application contains four features:
- Quick Search - allows access to the Court database wirelessly (limited data is provided).
- Shared Case Law - allows a comparison of two or more cases with one another in order to find the case law thay have in common.
- Shared Future References - the most important instrument that helps to find the references for the chosen case or cases. It gives a glimpse into how often the has beenwas recalled in its jurisprudence, and therefore allows the usage of simple quantitative data to assess the revelance of the case.
- International Law Connections - lets the user choose a specific international law and then find all the cases referring to it.
