Very nice mapping tool. Makes it a lot easier to break down certain bodies of water before you head out. Could use a few minor changes. These include being able to change the depth contours from 1' increments to whatever number you want, say 3'. Also doesn't work when you hook your phone up to a smart TV for a screen share. This would be nice when you are planning a trip with a group of people before hand. Hopefully they will add these features on the next update.
Not sure if it's the app or my phone, but I'm having issues with getting a GPS lock when using the app. I don't own a Hummingbird device and am just using the app for ice fishing. I've bought three maps and the map quality is excellent. Now lets see what happens when I switch from Android to Apple device. Can I transfer the maps? Waiting to hear back from customer service on that subject.
I would give this a zero star if I could. #1 the lake contour map takes way too long to load sometimes never does at all cuz it's always checking to make sure I paid for it which I did. #2 I'm positioned right over the contours that I believe will hold fish start drilling then 5 minutes later it bounces me 30 ft a different direction, this happens constantly. With the same phone using navionics which I don't care for it holds my position extremely tight. Please refund me.
Downloaded the app to try and update my units through Bluetooth. Spent 18 minutes uploading the file and another 20 after hitting the transfer button to update the unit and once completed my unit says somethings wrong with the file. I have never had a problem updating using my computer and a sd card so I suggest you don't waste your time with this app and update units using computer and SD card. For the technology in these humminbird units I would think they could come up with a reliable app.
Attempted to perform software update to my Solix 12 mega with my Android device. At first it downloaded the file on my phone and began the transfer to the Solix. Took at lot longer than expected 2.5 hours. Then the transfer stopped and stated the transfer failed at the end. Not sure what that's all about. Would like an explanation from Hummingbird.
Absolutely useless app, its sole purpose is to sell you maps. You want to use it draw out routes and manage waypoints when off the water and bluetooth it to your head unit, but you cant. You want to use it to screen share so you can use your phone to see what's on the head unit like the lowrance, but you cant. If you already have a lakemaster chip you cant load into the app, you have to buy the maps again. But hey if you want to get ripped off and over pay for a map this app is for you!
Downloaded it to update my Helix 7 MDI G3N.. updates are available for said unit... but software updates are "temporarily disabled through FishSmart." What an absolutely glitchy, useless app from a company that has plenty of money to do things right. People shouldn't have to fumble around buying SD card reader/writers and all this other nonsense in 2022.
I downloaded the FishSmart app to my phone and managed to get it to connect to the unit. It immediately suggested I needed to update my Helix 9 to version 1.900. I downloaded this and uploaded it to the unit’s internal storage as directed by the app. I reset to defaults and restarted only to find that the unit already had v1.900 software on it. The phone app could not see what version I already had on my unit. So then, each time I boot up, it notifies me that I do not need to update to v1.900 as I already have v1.900 installed. I updated to v2.110 when it came out, I download this via the app and upload it to the internal storage as directed by the app. I reset to defaults and successfully installed v2.110 Now each time I reboot, it asks me “are you really sure you want to replace v2.110 with v1.900?” and I have to decline of course. This cannot go on as there is a real risk of me or someone else turning my unit on and downgrading my software or worse, turning my unit into a brick if the downgrade fails. You would think there is a way to delete the old v1.900 update file but apparently not. HB USA say it will cost me US$250 for me have it repaired by them even though I did everything as directed by this app!! HB Australia couldn't be bothered answering my email.
I have been using this app for some time and my initial review remains the same. This app gives fishermen the flexibility to review lakes and fishing location anytime anywhere. No longer do you have to be in front of the fish locator to pick out new locations. The maps are very reasonably priced also.
The maps expire after one year! I don't feel like this is clearly stated anywhere. I used this two years ago for ice fishing bought a bunch of maps and loved it. Last year I didn't get to go out. I went to use it this year and after a lot of trouble shooting and work I found out they expired. I would have never bought them if I'd have known that. I am a big humminbird fan and have a lot of equipment of theirs. But man, I am disappointed that they seem to be shady on this deal.
I didn't buy the unit for it's bluetooth capability, but knowing it's there but doesn't work right is very disappointing. So, not only does the phone app not display my purchased maps, It also won't let me transfer these maps wirelessly to the unit. It's 2020...
This has not only changed the way i fish, but more importantly it's changed the planning of my fishing! The app is easy to use and the abundance of lakes in an a la carte style setting is perfect for me!
Needs the ability to view sonar, Side Imaging, & Down Imaging on your paired phone. No reason we shouldn't be able to mirror whatever is on the control head, to our paired phone. Also, needs the ability to view maps purchased on SD cards on our phones.
This app is a fantastic concept. Especially if you run newer humminbird units that can like to your phone via bluetooth.Needs some work though. While the phone is connected to my solid via bluetooth, the app does not connect well.
Keeps failing to run or locks most of its features. Wasted money buying lake maps I cant use most of the time. Makes you call service number to unlock app often. I rather be fishing then calling service center. Need to make app easier. It's a fishing app not a banking app but has security like a banking app.
Just not reliable. I, too, have tried updating my Solix unit and everything starts out fine; then comes to a complete halt with some illogical ending. Now I cant seem to get my solix 10 to be recognized by fishsmart. My phone has it paired...so, not sure.
The charts are very detailed, but are useless when the app can attain GPS for any length of time. All app permissions are granted, including location. Navionics app locks on to location instantly.
I'm never able to upgrade the software on either of my solix units. Sometimes it will start the update then after several hours it fails and now it says due to technical difficulties its unable to perform software updates. The app is pretty useless
I am unable to update my units using this app. It required an act of Congress to get it to connect in the first place now it doesn't even give the option to update my units even though I know there is one available. I tried downloading the update to an SD card and this failed as well.
Rather disappointed with the low rating and constant complaining about update issues when paired through bluetooth. Can these issues be resolved? I too tried updating my unit to no avail. C'mon hummingbird over a grand for a fish finder that's brand new yet out of date when I receive it. Should I update or leave as is ? Oh yeah it won't update lol
This app is totally useless. It won't even start up correctly. We spend thousands on electronics and humminbird can get a simple app right. The Navionics app is great. Get it together hummninbird!!! Seriously! This app is a total disgrace.
Maps for Ontario lakes aren't available for purchase on chartselect, not even major bodies of water such as Lake of The Woods or Eagle Lake. Humminbird has good charts available through the Lakemaster series, but for some reason won't provide them to Fishsmart app users.
Excellent App, super cool to be able to research, target a specific area using the app the night before an outing. This app is a must use tool if you are fishing a tournament and want to link structure and depth patterns.
I have purchased $500 worth of map chips and now I have to pay $10 per lake to have it on my phone?? Not to mention the app is buggy and transferring info to your unit is clunky. I should have gone with Navionics
Love this App. I use it everytime I hit the water. It helps me set up and fish the spots I know fish will be concentrated at due to the detailed mapping. I recommend it to everyone
I heard it was way better than navionics so I downloaded the App. I bought 1 map to test it, and it never loads correctly even when I am home on wifi. If you use android, dont waste your money, the App is terrible.
I've used this app for over a year now and have nothing but good luck. No issues with loading like others have stated. Its also awesome that I can upload the newest updates to my units and my Ulterra.
App will not open. If tried uninstalling and reinstalling several times. My phone is up to date. I've even tried shutting down my phone and restarting but no luck.
Fishsmart App can't open and read .gpx file. I follow all instructions in the manual and tried importing 30 waypoints off the sd card. I can add waypoints manually on the app and export to the controller per instructions. Please offer fix.
The maps you can purchase are good and seem to be better than competitors I have tried, but this app needs significant work and is miles behind its iOS counterpart. The biggest flaw is that trying to add a track currently force closes the app. This is a must-have feature for me, so I'll be using a competitor and can't recommend this app. Another minor annoyance is that there is no way to hide the search bar. I'd rather see more of the map. You can hide it on the iOS version.
