I love this app! I actually much prefer it to the Microsoft News app. The algorithim (idk how you spell it) really picked up on my finnicky interests fast, and without even reloading my feed began populating on-target stories for me, which makes it hard to put down in a great way. I find this news SO much more enjoyable than just the #1 headline in any category like you'd see in other news apps. Fantastic Job! I would highly recommend to anyone as tbe best news reader I've yet used anywhere.
I have uninstalled the app since I kept getting content that I am not interested in and disliking stories did not seem to make a difference. It is also problematic that when you want to dislike a story that it is too easy to miss the 3 dots and then end up clicking on the story.
Hummingbird is pretty good. It is clearly a first version but it had potential. It's much better than Microsoft's News app. The catagories need to be more granular. We'll see if it catches up to other apps like Flipboard.
This news app lacks a built-in adblocker. It also doesn't care about your topics and will recommend the typical clickbait, outrage media, and sports. But there's a twist. On top of all that, it also recommends social media posts! It pulls from Facebook, Twitter, Reddit and others. There's no intelligence in this app to speak of, artificial or not.
This app looks nice and runs well, so maybe it's me, but the apps feed section doesn't seem to pay attention to the users picked topics very much. I don't have a single political option chosen at all, but a lot of what's in the feeds "Your mix" tab is political articles, it seems the things I've selected are least of what's in my feed.
Surprisingly bad coming from Microsoft. I keep getting unrelated U.S. Political news from the Science and Tech section even though it wasn't even selected on my mix. Never experienced this in any news reader app, even the default Microsoft News app does a better job.
Simply amazing! Built-in ad block, dark mode, reading mode, customizable news categories and article history!? This app has been thought out quite well and I hope it continues to build on top of what's already great about it.
Trash. Does not pick up on personalization, does not allow blocking of keywords to avoid useless news, does not even provide local news even when you approve location settings. This was a pathetic attempt to catch up with Google's feed, and it failed miserably.
It's very good and my only complaint is that when using dark mode the splash screen is white and that can be a problem at night. Otherwise very well made.
My understanding was that this app was supposed to learn which topics I was interested in and which ones I wasn't. However, after attempting to train it by marking topics I didn't want to see, I began seeing more and more of those topics in my feed. Something's broken.
Great news aggregator capability. Lets you select your topics and interests. The AI then checks your reading habits and makes permission based recommendations tuned to the way you consume news.
Honestly I expected better from Microsoft. The AI recommends complete garbage and disregards personal preferences. There was so much clickbait and biased garbagefire that I couldn't enjoy anything about this app.
The inability to use my default browser is infuriating. Also, it's not possible to disable Facebook posts that Microsoft thinks are news. I can block users and pages but no way to block Facebook specifically.
I love it! Beautiful and concise design. Rich and customized news content. Interesting and attractive videos. The best feed app I've downloaded!
Not a bad news aggregator, but still has a long way to go to match Google News. Unlike Microsoft's other news app, Hummingbird is not available for PC
Hands down the worst aggregator I have ever used. @Work feed didn't function. Did not remove sources from my feed after multiple times removing them and disliking stories. Not a serious news aggregator. AI ignores your personalization settings. EVERY other aggregator I've used removes sources IMMEDIATELY. Don't waste your time. Much better off with Apple News or Google news (depending on whether you're running iOS or Android). Marketing says these stories were curated just for me. Poppycock
Great news feed algorithms. Content is exactly what I'd want to read. Local content is great too. Sharing links are wonky though. App needs a widget.
The news recommendations are pure trash. "4 foods you won't believe are man made!" "10 retirement tips for 2019!" "Pewdiepie made an oopsie?!" Set my interests as the Stock Market and Video gaming related interests. Kept getting sports, political clickbait, and entertainment related stories. Tried making everything as not interested, but more junk just took it's place. Has a very long way to go before it's usable, it's basically a clickbait generator at this point. I love the idea, and would like to replace my Google feed for this, but this suffers the same issues as the Google one, but much worse
Went through the hassle of the setup and configuration process. Still shows me irrelevant articles and topics unrelated to the things I told it I wanted to see. Uninstalling...
I'm not sure where I ran across this than just saw itsan MS product. It works pretty well but the AI tends to repeat news. I was following Aprilia SBK, now no feeds from them. Mostly camera and phone news which i have a passing interest. If you you an VPN to log into a server in another country you'll get "local" feeds from there.
Pretty good at new and story's of interest. But needs a discussion section for the news and story's we read right in the app. To chat with fellow users of the app.
Great UI, topics you have NOT selected still show up a lot however. Overall, definitely has potential
Stories are often stale. Just saw an article listing best places to see fireworks in Los Angeles and today is july 25. And app hasn't been updated since April 1?
I'd like to see a widget. Otherwise, this is an excellent customizable news aggregator.
My mix is completely irrelevant to my chosen subjects. Even after excluding a site, its news appear again. Artificial intelligence????!!!! I don't think so.
Good start and like where it's going. Would love to see the ability to add more specific topics or group articles by topic.
Interesting news stories are served up by this app, articles and reports that I probably wouldn't find anywhere else.
This is a useless app that basically showed articles that reminded me of the click bait that shows up at the bottom of news web pages.
++ BATTERY HOG while in use, heats up my LG G6. ++ The local news feed is excellent, better than Google News, but setup for local news is undiscoverable.
It has usability problems. In order to get to the ... menu (context sensitive menu for each story) so I can say "I don't like this story" I end up clicking the story (several times) because the sensitive area is tiny. Also the ML part is terrible. It keeps showing me WWE stories and I keep saying I don't like them. Same thing with countless other topics. Microsoft: listen to the feedback you get via the app. There are some simple ways you can make the UI much more pleasant to use.
