This is my favorite mobile Mahjong solitaire game for 5 reasons: the cats/neko are absolutely, absurdly adorable and amusing; there's only 1 ad (upon starting the app), unlike most apps that have ads after every turn/board; unlocking new tiles and achievements is fun; it has replayability; and it is relaxing (perhaps especially because of the lack of annoying noisy ads).
What do the sardines mean? What do the stars mean? What do the power ups do? The tutorial doesn't really talk about any of these... otherwise the game is challenging and the graphics are nice.
I really wanted to like this game but, it got way too hard way too fast. I'm usually pretty good at mahjong but, these levels are ridiculously hard.
The cats are hungry and it is time to play match the cats!!!
I have been playing this game for years!!! Why hasn't it been updated anymore?? Please don't give up on this game!!!

Edit: Left a 2 star review previously as the app kept hanging after the update. Since then, it has worked well on my mobile and i have completed the game. Kinda sad now :( Ihave been playing this for ages now and every single one of my friends know I'm obsessed. But this new version (tbh i dont even know what got changed, because it seems to be exactly the same as the old) crashes repeatedly. It is VERY FRUSTRATING especially when you are close to clearing a difficult round. Would have rated 5 stars if not for the crashing issue. Please fix it!
It's no Hungry Cat Picross, but Hungry Cat Majong is enjoyable enough that I paid for the ad removal. 2 stars dropped because ad-free isn't working anymore! I tap the "remove ads" banner when online and nothing happens. Please fix this! Thank you.

I love this game so much! I had it on a previous phone years ago, paid to remove the ads, redownloaded on my tablet, and paid to remove ads again, not because I had to, just because these guys DESERVE any additional support I can give. Awesome team, awesome line of games. Keep em coming guys!

Love the game, but it stops shortly after I start playing. It initially worked well, but now is virtually worthless.
Same levels and the new features are not worth the memory space on my phone. Its like a downgrade from the 1st. I would rather they just added some new levels.
Never fond in mahjong games specially with Chinese symbols but this is quite nice with the cats... one thing though, I paid for it to get rid of the ads and support the developer and worked on my phone, I tried to unlock it on my tablet and says error so I have to see ads when I play it on my tablet despite I paid for it, please fix that
Can't play without being redirected mid game to a site with pop ups claiming I've won a prize. Now I can't install it.
It just crashes all the time. Can't complete any level as it simply stops at the middle of the game! Original mahjong not in HD was much better. I'm highly disappointed and won't recommend to anyone.
The timing in the game is difficult to accomplish, it's more frustraiting than challenging. I play a lot of games and to me it's unrealistic. The more cards you get on the screen, the more difficult for the game to register which cards you are selecting. Picross is a better game and accomplishing each level isn't impossible.
I'm at the last level 8. Its IMPOSSIBLE! The shuffle barely moves anything so sometimes even when you use the shuffle it does not bring any new possibility. FRUSTRATING!
...even though I never use them. Can be played through as traditional matching mahjong solitaire, making it an exceptionally challenging collection of puzzles.
I love this game, but I'm so sad that not even the new version can save game data between devices. If I play on my phone, I have to do everything again on my tablet =\
After enjoying hours of hungry cat picross, I decided to give one of TQ's other games a try. After beating the first ten levels, I called it quits. The shuffle feature never worked. It either shuffled to something that wasn't matchable or the game just sat there while two tiles were on top of each other. But the real problem is the match streak system. It's near impossible to maintain a 5x streak due to the low timeout timer and random fish pickups getting in the way. Getting 3 stars on levels was already an annoyance 5 levels into the game because you need to keep that streak up. Perhaps if you don't care about 3 starring or restarting, this game could be playable.
