Hype Machine

I've used this app and website for over a decade. Love it and the principle. However, on android, receive a "playback error" for all music and uninstalling re-installing fixes it temporarily. Surely a simple fix?

All the app needs to do is play music but I routinely get playback errors and I have to restart the app to fix it. Not good enough. And I pay monthly on patreon.

PLAYBACK ERROR MESSAGE ON 90% OF MY SONGS!!! I've been using this app since 2013. It'll work if you uninstall and reinstall. I've already done that several times. Also, I noticed that a handful of my songs in my favorites are missing completely. I stream this mostly in the car. I need to keep my eyes on the road. Not jerk around with my phone trying to get my songs to play. I've just uninstalled again and contemplating never reinstalling. Does this with Samsung S8+ and now my new S21.

Love the people-oriented curation of music. Would love it more if there was a section for cached songs (so I don't have to use my data). Recent (March 2021) updates has resulted in songs not playing. The only fix I've found is to uninstall and reinstall the app, but this is an easy enough workaround for a free app/service. Still giving them $3 / mo to support their dev efforts.

I think it's a great idea but the app doesn't let me sign in at all. I set up a username and password and signed in but it still asks me to sign in or sign up. I've reinstalled it several times. I've been trying for a few days. Without being able to use the normal features like favoriting songs this app is pretty boring and pointless. I would love to change my rating if I could actually explore this app.

I have used plug for mac for a while, and I was happy to find there is an Android app for Hype Machine now. I have been using Hype Machine since it launched, and I always find new and interesting music. I have not been able to skip songs using Google Assistant for this application though, it would be nice if this could made to work properly.

Love the music and have used hypem since high school. Unfortunately the app has never been perfect. Frequently crashes for no apparent reason when playing music in the background. Ocasionally gets stuck while trying to load a song and requires a restart or two. Still paying cause the idea is great.

I love this app I've been using it for years even paid for it before it was free. This rating is only for the android version. On my Samsung zflip 3 and my google pixels this app only plays like 3 songs from my favorites. The rest play but there is no audio. App works perfectly fine on my iPhones. Please fix I play music through my androids at work to connect to more than one speaker

Amazing app and concept. Been a supporting member for forever. If your app keeps crashing after about 30s of background play, be sure to check if your OS isn't sleeping/pausing the app to meet power saving requirements.

I reaaaaally love this app when it's working. I've been using this website for over a decade now and am such an advocate for keeping it going. The app, though, has been giving me playback errors for over a month now and it's making me sad 😔

Constant playback errors for android app. I've had Hype Machine since they started. Really disappointed that they don't address this as it's my favorite music app.

Super disappointed with the apps performance lately. It crashes after 1 minute of playing a song. Or it crashes when I lock my phone.

Long time user, but recently the app repeatedly crashed making it virtually unusuable. Come on guys, at least tell us if you're working on it or not. S9+

I have been using hype for the last 2 years and its absolutely the best. The recommendations are better than soundcloud by a mile. Kudos to the mission of the developers to keep Hype going cause theres still no one like you even in 2019! Thanks! The world needs you!

Great app to experience fresh music but it keeps pausing and glitching (maybe ram issue) and i have to reopen the app to play again.

come here for inspiration. come here for discovery. i would donate if i wasnt so poor. but that will change someday :) honestly there is so much good music out there you will never hear if you dont download. why would you want to miss out on anything good.

Ive been supporting this platform since 2010, when i first learned such a transformative idea was taking shape on the world wide web. Now, present day, music is rife with "influencers, now trending, hit makers, and auto tunes galore" in every nook and crany of the very sounds our music makes. So this will provide an effecient way of broadening your taste in music. Because the same things that were great 10 years ago with Hype Machine, are still present and fulfilling today. I don't knownif anyone else is having the same issues as I am. It just doesn't let me log in at all. Can't acess my favorites or save songs to favorites

Terrible app, shuts down after a few minutes of playing songs, or else displays playback error when making a selection

App has been broken for months. Constantly get playback error messages. On android 10 with an LG Velvet.

repeated crashes on latest update, when it works it's great but I can't even put my device on hold without it crashing

love the site, paying supporter, but the app keeps crashing on my new Galaxy S10, seems like theres a bug for Samsung devices that needs to be fixed please!

Update - "something went wrong" Not sure what occurred with the update but is not functional at this point. Please issue another update.
