This has potential but seems to lack support. It has not been updated for recent Android version upgrades. It does not have a profile for Nikon D850 ot for Nikon Z-series lenses. So I can't use it until they complete needed upgrades and support.
Very, very useful for my depth of field/focus stacking needs. The devs don't have my exact camera model (Sony a6400) but I approximate with a similar model. Keep in mind that hyperfocal distance won't mean tack sharp towards the front or back of the "in focus" range, but it will still get you a long way towards your DOF hopes.
Excellent app for any photographer working with wide aperture and zoom or telephoto lenses...easy to predict depth of field will be for a given focal length, subject distance and aperture...it's a must have...the only improvement I can think of is to include focal lengths from 501mm to 1200 for wildlife photography with super telephoto lenses or teleconverter combinations.
Awesome. Super easy to use. Clear interface. It does keep saying that it was made for an older version of Android then I have and I should check for updates but they are none, but that doesn't seem to affect the app.
My pick for hyperfocal distance. Shows everything I need in one image that represents a typical scene. Also very easy to adjust settings. Selections scrollers etc rather than having to enter values like some others. Very clean simple interface. Exactly what I want when out taking photos.
I used this app lots for teaching photography because it's easy to use and understand. However, bit would be nice if some of the missing cameras were added and that it could calculate focal lengths less than 10mm.
I particularly like the bottom graphic which gives one a visual idea of a numerical setting. Being able to save multiple profiles, adding extra lens profiles make this a brilliant app. I use it as a quick field reference for my Nikon.
Supurb app. Does exactly what it is supposed to do. Simple, easy to understand layout that gives you depth of field and hyperfocal distance for your camera and lens. Simple, easy, job done.
I am happy functional. I use MF 6x9 . 6x7 . 6x6 . 6x4.5 The FOV for 6x9 is reported in portrait orientation. That seems odd as 35mm and digitals are reported in landscape. Interesting that my 645 camera is reported in landscape. The larger number is horizontal which results in landscape as in 6x4.5 , which is how all the 35mm and digital are reported. However for my 6x9 and 6x7 the larger number is vertical which causes the FOV to report as portrait.
Easy to setup for your camera and lens combo. Fast and very easy to understand output. This is a simple yet powerful and easy to use app for any photographer needing to get nicely focused landscape shots.
the app has the wrong concept for hyperfocal distance...if you follow its recommendation you will have blur images...you key in where you intend to focus and check its DOF range...thats the way to use it...if you follow its recommendation for hyperfocal distance it will be disasterous
As a keen wildlife photographer the ability to gauge depth of field and field of view easily is a great help when setting up hides, etc. Simple and brilliant!
This app is really good . it is going to help me with my photography, i have been given a progect to use HyperFocal technic, i had an idea, but now i have seen how and where to focus it has made it all the more clear, i havnt used it in the field yet , but once weather changes i will be out and about with camera and this Brillant App. Thank you for creating this App. 5 + stars from me.
Nice but has a small programming issue. With an HFD table created, if I rotate my device 90° all of the data changes from the displayed values to infinity, and it stays that way even if I rotate it back. Hopefully an easy coding fix?
It is good, but I wish you can tap or drag the subject distance instead of having to type the number every time. Also no Fuji X100? I thought it was pretty popular.
Excellent app for calculating a variety of parameters easily and clearly. I have the pro version so no issue with ads.
This hyper focal app is a wonderful help for photographers who wish to understand more about hyper focal distances. It is very accurate & info is clear & precise & very easy to understand. I highly recommend this app.
A great app to help me determine hyperfocal distances for my cameras when taking landscape photos. Straightforward, effective, and easy to use.
Great apps, though there is one question I wasn't able to find any answer. When you compute the field of view for a given lens (e.g. 40mm) for a defined camera (e.g. Olympus OM-D E-5, crop factor 2.x), does it take in account the crop factor of the camera ? In the example, should I buy a 40 mm lens, or should I consider to buy a 20 mm lens, which is a 40mm lens equivalent with crop factor ?
Great app! Love the way the hyperfocal plane, depth of field, etc., is visually portrayed in the diagram. Very easy to read and understand!
Great! I was really struggling from time to time with things that were out of focus or vice versa. This app clarified a lot of those situations for me.
This app allowed me to calculate the true depth of field for my Samsung phone Camera according to its true specs. This means that I can use the manual settings in Pro Mode with more certainty to get the Still Life shots I want. Thank you. The Profile Save is a godsend to my work flow. 5*
First heard abouf this app from a youtube tutorial on hyper focal distance. I previous used an app similar to this one, but this app is way better developed together with static simulation which aids in better visualization. I would highly recommend this app to everyone serious abouf photography.
Greag app but not updated with latest cameras as of lately. Still great though as you can pick a similar camera or a previous generation with a similar sensor and done.
Paid for full version, it hasn't been updated since 2016. Newer cameras are not listed. Boo! Feels like I've been scammed!
Not suitable for film cameras because it makes ad-hoc asumptions about circle of confucion irrelevant of which film is used. Any mentioning of film cameras in menus better be removed to avoid confusion.
Initial impressions: Love the ease to set values quickly. And the way we get quick chart which also shows surrounding values.
Great companion for landscapes since dslr lense barrels typically don't identify dof info. I tend to include near field objects in my landscapes so this app takes the "miss" out of hit-and-miss.
Excellent app, easy to use, simple and well designed user interface, it does what it says 'on the box', very useful for landscape photography in particular. No superfluous bells an whistles. A very good example of the value of the 'KISS' programming principle, that is: - 'Keep It Simple - Stupid'
