IceCream Sandwich-ICS Keyboard

===================================Porting android 4.0 apps to work with older devices requires quite a bit of time and effort. Please be patient regarding bugs/issues. To support my development efforts on this keyboard, you can buy the ICS Keyboard Skin that I developed. Look under my app list or search for "ICS Keyboard Skin" on the market. Thank you!===================================
ICS Keyboard
- The keyboard from Android 4.0 IceCream Sandwich

This is the keyboard from Android 4.0 (codename ice cream sandwich). I back ported it to work with all android deivces 1.6 and up. Everything is working except Speech Recognition will require android 2.2 or higher.

This essentially the same IceCream Keyboard you will find in Android 4.0 but I made a few minor adjustments to it to make it work a little better. It's also a better version than some other similar IceCream Sandwich Keyboards you will find on the market, such as the port created by johntanmi or NICK ZHANG.

It's even better than the standard IceCream Sandwich keyboard:

- Compatible with most android devices

- Features that are incompatible with older phones were removed to make the keyboard faster

- Bigger Keys!

- Reduced app size by exporting non-English languages as separate downloads

- More user friendly

Enjoy!

++Notes++Internet access is for the new version check and notification. When you open the app, the app will detects and notify you if your current version is outdated.

It won't send any personal information to anywhere.+++++++++

Its not a bad keyboard, it has potential but the keys are way too small. Also perhaps because of the key size autocorrection does not seem to work that good. could be the small keys or the correction (or one leading to the other) I actually have to disagree with the description and say JohnTanmi's version is better

You see lots of people use you're keyboard and some of them are not from the US or other English talking countries, so could you make language switching a bit easier, for those who don't need it you can turn it on or off any time you want. So it's good for everyone, please could you do it)

This keyboard is definitely better than my stock keyboard, it has cool ics theme, and cool key tone, which my stock keyboard lacks of. However this keyboard does not have the 'shift enter' key when im typing sms. Im unable to form new sentences in my sms. Xperia Arc S, running on official ICS os (but does not have ics keyboard)

I was looking for a minimal and well-calibrated Android keyboard as a recently-switched iPhone user (around 4 years) and at the point where I thought "OK, I guess I'll have to pay for a good keyboard" I tried ICS Keyboard. The result is amazing! I really don't see any reason to switch for a paid keyboard, it has everything I need, and it's quite minimal visually and in terms of configuration.

Just switched from the Samsung Galaxy SII Skyrocket to Galaxy S4 and the one thing that was different and I did not like was the keyboard. The new operating system doesn't offer the "Android Keyboard" but this is a great substitute. It was easy to install, works just like the old keyboard, and works within all my apps. I'm in love! Thanks for this.

I switch to ics from gingerbread due to the massive lag I experienced while typing more than a single line. At first I did not experience any lag with, ics but now I'm experiencing the same lag. I can type at least 2 sentences before the text appears on screen. This is really frustrating :( I'd switch back to the default keyboard if it wasn't terrible :/

This was almost better than the Keyboard my MOTO RAZR MAXX came with. Still lacking IMO. Once you Realize you made a mistake. I should be able to click the mistake and options to pick the correct word should come up.. Will give it an easy 5 after next update.. overall. Very good..

I loved this keyboard instantly. It Doss a great job with correcting things even if you are spelling them so horribly wrong. The keys feel good and there are a ton of ways you can customize the keyboard to fit your needs. I only wish I could use swype with the keyboard.

I've tried heaps of other keyboards. Most other good ones decrease in accuracy over time or have bad auto correct. Ics keyboard however has been brilliant throughout. It works like a charm and is the best android keyboard IMHO.

The gingerbread keyboard is better. The keys are the perfect size and it responds quicker than this one. I like the built in themes but all in all Gingerbread keyboard is better.

Now I have ics with sense. I still use this since HTC didn't add it. One glitch, the voice input button does not show up no matter what the settings are, so you have to hold the space bar

All this keyboard needs is an option to put the 4 arrows at the bottom of the screen like the EVO 4G has. Not necessarily because I use them but without them the keyboard is a whole row lower and a bit awkward to hold and type when in portrait. It feels off balance in my hands. Other than that this is absolutely perfect.

No stars is a better rating. It doesn't work in an unrooted Bionic either. Please try again later when you actually get it to work.

Thank you for releasing the best android keyboard out there! Even with big thumbs typing is a breeze and auto-correction is working better than on any other app so far. Well done, sir! Please, include an option to deactivate certain special characters. Writing in German e.a. I need the "ä" key but "à, à, â, ā, å, ã, æ" are not needed. A possibility to hide unwanted keys would make me one VERY happy camper - vastly improving usability IMHO. Crisp sound schemes would be the cherry on top of this app!

Please pit the comma key on the main keyboard. Long press on period key is frustrating. Otherwise great. Very responsive and good spell correction. One other suggestion: leave unrecognized words underlined and if possible implement touch-to-correct like native ICS keyboard. Thanks!

When I moved from iPhone to a SGS2 I couldn't believe how bad the input was on the default keyboards and was ready to take my android back. But then I tried a whole load of different keyboards most of which were also crap. This is the only one I found that matches the iPhone. Typing this in portrait with big thumbs and it only made 2 small mistakes.

More response than stock keyboard. I like the punctuation on top. However, I haven't figured out how how to do Caps Lock... Droid Charge

Keys seems to be smaller but more accurate than the stock JB one, the only set back is prediction. It corrects "using" by "us in" which I never encountered before. Anyway uninstall for now, I'll just test out your JB Keyboard.

I just install but so far i like it allot if everything goes we'll i will give one star more. Thanks

I like it but the height of the keyboard is cut off at the bottem. Please make fix the correct length of keypad for HTC incredible 2.

A. G. u. Mar 24, 2012

Keyboard is actually better than tanmi and binary bulge. There is no lag in this one but the keys need to be a little bigger. More accurate than the others on the market though.

A. G. u. Jun 8, 2012

but please have it save the user's personal settings, I have to re-configure everything whenever I re-boot my phone. I'm sure that's not too much to ask, it would really help a lot. Thanks.

Best ever. I use to have issues where I would put a period after every sentence. Now its so smooth.

I have been using this keyboard for literally years. This keyboard is the simplest and easiest to use. I've ran it on Samsung Captivate, S2, S3, S5, and now an LG V20. Why aren't default keyboards this easy to use anymore? I don't have emoji support but at least I have manageable backspace speeds and a quality auto correct.

A. G. u. Sep 16, 2012

This keyboard is quite similar to the HTC keyboard, but I prefer it because of the much larger space bar. I got sick of hitting the period key instead of space. My only gripe is it doesn't auto capitalize the first letter in a text sometimes.

A. G. u. May 16, 2012

I downloaded it thinking that it was going to be better than my stock keyboard (2.2), but I find the keys too small and awkward. Also, I'm finding the predictive text to be the worst I have ever had! If you like it great, but it's definitely not for me.
