Unusable on Android 10.
Worked on 8s not on a 12
But due to design and function choices this app borders on absolutely useless. In effect this pretty much just let's you control volume and pick input sources, the rest is meaningless hype features. It's buggy, men it hijacks system buttons making exiting the app nromaly impossibly in the certain situations. Just plainly designed bad from ground up.
I would be embarrassed if my name were associated with this app. Crashes all the time, no updates, no more support, just astonished that pioneer would release this pathetic piece of software in their name. Only gets two stars because the basic functionality usually works to change volume and sources.
Seems to work about the same across all devices I've installed it on, I think it helps if your receiver has a solid network connection. It sometimes acts up, and doesn't work if you're running Airplay at all, but overall, a good app for controlling my VSX-1021.
Have it on my htc desire, ipod touch 2g and works as it should. Now that i installed it to my galaxy note it works but the scaling is of for the volume control and HMG / internet radio doesnt show all the favorites/stations. Other than that can't complain. Still no update on this. Can not use this with galaxy note since scaling issues.
Worked like a charm on my Galaxy S, but when I installed it on my S3, the app crashes every time I click something. Edit: After I wrote this I went back into the app and it miraculously started working again. Huh. The formatting is all messed up though. Things aren't centered on the screen. Works now though!
Was working fine on my Samsung S3 than it just stopped after Samsung update. Contacted Pioneer and was told that their engineers couldn't fix the problem caused by the Samsung update. I was able to get the app working on my phone by switching over to CyanogenMod 10, but the app size is not made for the S3 screen. I feel Pioneer has abandoned people that own a older receiver. They have a new app but my receiver isn't supported. Very disappointed.
Even with the latest firmware update the newest routers the most up to date smart phones and tablets this app still seems to be so temperamental as to when it will work that it's frustrating I'll just get up and turn nob instead of wasting another 3 hours trying to connect just to get up the next day and work as if nothing ever was wrong......
The app actually runs, and talks to my VSX-1121K receiver successfully. That said, this app clearly is not tablet-aware, as the GUI layout is kind of all over the place - sometimes the control UI is in the upper left corner, sometimes it's centered to the left side, sometimes it's squarely in the middle of the display. The volume control UI is really funky - the blue circle that's supposed to indicate the level and be overlaid with the UI image with the knob has the overlay on the left, and the blue circle centered, and you have to move your finger to match the blue circle. It'd be nice if Pioneer would fix it to be more tablet-friendly - but it does otherwise work just like on my iPhone.
This app was everything that I wanted it to be. Some minor bugs but pretty much functioned as expected. Now for some reason every time I launch the app it locks up my driod device and gives me the message "unfortunately, icontrolAV2 has stopped" Now why would an app just decide to stop working one day. VSX-52 was not cheap and I expect more than this from a company like Pioneer.
This app does NOT work on Android 4.x devices. Pioneer no longer support this software nor the devices it was designed to operate. If you want to use this software on post-2011 Android devices you will need to downgrade your operating system. BUYER BEWARE: if you are considering purchasing a Pioneer networked AV receiver or blu-ray player, then please note that your hardware will not be supported by Pioneer in 12 months' time.
This app could be so much better...cut out all the gimmicky animation and gyro scope controls and spend more time adding complete control over receiver. Crashes on custom roms well. Doesn't take advantage of tablet screen size. Not a home run of an app that it could be.
Installed this app and it worked fine when my router assigned an ip address of 192.168.0.41. Issues with UVerse and router got reset. New IP address assigned by DHCP at 192.168.0.16. iControlAV2 app WILL NOT let me enter "16" in IP address field. Would enter, blank out, move to next field, enter 16, blank out, move to next field, .... repeat, repeat, repeat. Called support. Told me it was problem with my router. I turned off WiFi in phone and the problem still persisted. Finally got to another (level 2?) person. He listened. Took my email address. Problem DID NOT repeat on my wife's phone (same phone). Wierd. Reset my VSX 1021 to a static IP address of 192.168.0.8. Had to cut and past 168 to get it entered into address box field. App now works. If I didn't like this app so much I wouldn't have fussed with it this much. Pioneer support was sketchy. Seemed to busy to talk to you. Too quick to point fingers. Never got back to me.
These guys have no idea how to build an app! Interface does not display properly on Nexus 7. Why not build on your apps by making future iterations backwards compatible? Very backwards thinking. Will probably avoid purchasing another Pioneer receiver in the future because of issues like this. Currently own a VSX-52.
I'm giving it 4 stars because it works great on my Thunderbolt. Unfortunately, it will install to my Xoom and my wife's Galaxy Tab 10.1, but the scaling is way off. I expected it to look like it does on an iPad, but no luck. Hopefully they will update it to better fit tablets in the near future.
To many error codes its aways something to log in. There is a alignment issue it is on the control screen same thing on a tablet. It works great with apple products. If these two problem was fixed, 5star baby
This app works great when its connected. The problem is every time i fire up the app, it fails to find the receiver on the 1st try. 3 refreshes later, it will finally connect and work normally. pretty frustrating
This app lacks support for many models which are 'too old', yet still on sale in stores. It detects and recognizes these old receivers fine and they work on the iOS version of the app. Poor decision by pioneer, the demo mode does look nice.
I had the SC-55. App worked great then just stopped working. Last week, I picked up the vsx-51, and again, it worked great for a week, and once again just stopped connecting. AVRs are both hard wired and my network is not the issue. Pioneer, please fix this! Will adjust my review when an update is released and I can use it again.
I loved this app on my evo and used it all the time. Would give it 5 stars if it would work on my new phone. I know it's a new phone so I am just waiting for them to hopefully fix this in an update.
I move to the samsung s5 from iphone which this app works great on, now I can't used my stereo. This app just shuts down after I push to open it. Guess pjooneer really doing bad not to get this app fix in android: which seems they support apple since my stereo inly does airplay which is apple for 100 I can get Bluetooth adapter unreal price should have came build in for the 1400 I spend on it. Now worthless for me if this app not working with this phone.
Somehow, this app manages to work on Android 11 with my vsx-1021k receiver, where the actual recommended app, the Icontrolav5, crashes every time. The UI on this app is horrible and does not fit my phone screen but... It works!
