Nice interface, deep dive into features of older VSX1121K, used to work reliably, but android 12 complains its no longer compatible. Like other reviewers have stated, on the day this av receiver stops working, I will be shopping for other brands of equipment. Too bad, as I've owned other Pioneer amps since 1972. Last chance to get it right!

Edit 2. 12/31/19. Another phone update and again not working. Phone says it's an older version and won't run. Really wish they would stay on top of this. Edit. Just tried this app again and it has been fixed. Thanks Pioneer/ Onkyo. Like everyone else, stopped working with the last Android release. It doesn't appear that they are going to update it. Things like this permanently lose customers.

Many problems with this app loosing connections to the receiver over the years. Jumped through lots of hoops to get it to work correctly. Not so bad when it actually does work - maybe worth three stars. However, I recently got a new phone and now there seems to be no way to even get the app to run on a modern Android phone. Very disappointed. The receiver is a major pain to configure and run through the front panel and standard remote. We really need an update to this app for Android 11. Since that doesn't look like it's going to happen, my best recommendation is to avoid Pioneer products.

The app has been working fairly well (not extremely well), but it beats using the ordinary remote control. Sadly the app isn't even able to connect to my receiver after the phone was updated to Android 9. I'm starting to fear that Pioneer don't plan on updating the app or releasing an app witch is compatible with both my mobile and my receiver (VSX-923K).

The has always been a bit buggy but it did work. Got a new phone and now it is no longer compatible. I own two Pioneer Elite receivers and they sound great. Really wish that Pioneer would do something to update this app though to make it work again. Also wish they would correct their firmware to allow the receiver to connect to the Pandora server again. Disappointing.

While this app isn't strictly necessary, it makes operating the receiver remotely much simpler. S8 active using Android 9. I had some issues using the app, it could no longer communicate with the receiver even though I could find it on the network through my router. It ended up being the receiver. If your app suddenly stops working, try resetting your receiver to factory default.

Well, it works but its a poor implementation of a control app for a receiver that is feature rich and powerful. The app is non intuitive, and has limited features(on Elite VSX-44) compared to the physical remote(which is also non intuitive but has all buttons needed to fully control the AVR). With a full color screen landscape, an app should be better than the remote. Took me a while to figure out that if you keep spinning your finger on the volume control knob in the app it will start working, actually some genius in this, in that you wont be able to accidentally crank it up to fast. The developers should take hints from U/I designs by Apple,Nintendo, and Harmony Remote apps. A big nice feature to be added for me would be the ability to able to edit the input names.

My VSX amp was very expensive, And now, after spending my hard earned money the control apps do not work properly. I'm forced to run the setup navi app two, three times a week, sometimes it works, other times I just give up until the next day. Maybe focus on an app that works the way it is supposed to work instead of an app that looks like a video game.

The app used to work OK, albeit unreliable, requiring a receiver reboot every now and then. And then came Android 9. As many others have said, the app doesn't even load now. It really is a shame to see Pioneer/Onkyo be so indifferent regarding this issue. Get it together guys, this kind of stuff makes people jump ship. I for one already have.

As long as you have a older android device it works fine, but that's the kink in this app. Apparently supporting this product is no longer a concern so when buying my next receiver I will look at other manufacturers apps and make sure they try and keep there products up to date before buying the wrong one. (if having problems with older devices try powering down and pull the cord completely out and let rest for 1 minute. Reconnect and power up and try again. Worked for me.) Bad weather = problems

I bought my Pioneer VSX 1130K 3 years ago. It worked perfectly until this app stopped working. My house is set up as a smart house with an audiovisual control room. Since the app doesn't work, I am unable to lower the volume while watching movies and have to walk up stairs. This is unacceptable. It's very much like buying a car that all of a sudden you can no longer use the air conditioner. Pioneer used to be my go-to. I'm very disappointed. I have used the Pioneer ControlApp for a long time before it stopped working with the latest Android. Fortunately I have just tried this one and wow, it worked with my VSX-828. I have a Pixel2XL with Android10 and I was already about to give up searching for a solution. This app does what it should do so it's totally fine for me even without updates as long as it works.

Been trying to get this app to work with my VSX-824 for years. It worked initially around 2 years ago when I first bought my AV receiver then it stopped working and haven't been able to get it to connected since. Keep getting a B27102 connection error!!! Come on Pioneer, a bit of support is needed here for your customers!!!

Sad to see pioneer not keeping up. I used this app for an elite series receiver I bought a while ago. The app, It worked great with my old android. Not on my new note 10. This black friday my business to upgrade my receiver will be going elsewhere.i like to have tye apps on my phone for all of my devices, not 5 different remotes. I have been waiting over a month for them to update the app. Sadly nothing.

It's simply time to dump Pioneer products. I have so many and supported the company for 20 years but we are just a bank to them. The lack of updates is awful. The app doesn't work with a Note 10. I have 3 receivers in my house and they are useless without an app controlling everything. Bye Pioneer. It was a good run.

Just discovered the Pioneer app that I used to use on my old Samsung phone to control my home theater/stereo system from my phone actually now works on my newer LG phone (LG V50-Android v10)! I got this phone last April and today (Jan 22, 2022) is the first time I got it to work and I am SOOO happy! This may not sound like a big deal to many people...but this was a HUGE disappointment when I got my new phone and all indications in the comments section in the Play Store indicated it was a lost cause!

I just bought a new phone and the app stopped working. I use the receiver with my chrome cast and it won't control the volume. Pioneer needs to update this app and the potential is endless. Love my VSX 824 don't want to replace it.

Works well with iOS and Android tablets (i.e. Fire HD 10). The only issue is the Android version will not rotate to landscape mode like the iOS version on my iPhone and iPad. This doesn't seem like it should be hard to implement and/or change in development of the app. Hope to see it in a future update. For others having issues, this has helped for a reliable connection with my VSX-1123 over the years: 1) use cat5e/cat6 network connection if possible; 2) use static IP address on network; 3) unplug receiver for 10-15 seconds after updating firmware, or changing ANY network connections and/or settings; and 4) restart router after changing network settings. Hope this helps.

I would rate this app zero if I could, it's a shame that a big name like Pioneer would not support their products, the last time this app was updated was over 3 years ago and it stopped working with newer Android versions. I will never buy or recommend any pioneer product again. It's been yrs since the last time my Pioneer Elite VSX-90 was updated and it goes to the garbage as soon as I replace it.

Worked decently on 2-3 year old phones/Android, does not work at all with current Android (Galaxy S20 Ultra). Many receiver features and options are only easily usable/viewable through the app and now that's suddenly not possible just because I upgraded my phone. Emailed support and no reply after a week. Not cool.

This app is still working. I have a VSX-830. When I tried using it it gave me an error saying that I was using an old android ver. I thought it meant the phone or the app needed updating. I had the receiver on and connected by WiFi to my phone. When I started updating {through the app} the receiver changed to "updating". It's the receiver firmware that needed updating. The receiver needs to be connected to the internet , either WiFi or ethernet. It takes a while! The receiver turns off when done.

The latest android update broke this app. This app hasn't been updated in 2 and 1/2 years even though many of us still have perfectly good receivers that will only work with this program. Pretty crappy service from Pioneer. Now that I have to replace my receiver, it sure won't be another Pioneer. EDIT 11/18/19 Worked again for a week, but busted again. Bye bye Pioneer. You used to have good products.

Horrible app, basically worthless! Not user friendly whatsoever, difficult to get functions to work and is very aggravating! I can't even select songs from an iPod without going to the receiver and using the receiver's original remote! Had I known this Pioneer was actually an Onkyo product, I never would had bought it!

Ran lan line to vsx1123 receiver from router and now can control it with android phone & I pad. Much better than using the remote that is just a ton of buttons. Visually easier ,less confusing than looking at receiver display for feedback. Internet radio is a plus...Pandora won't accept my password "what's with that?" A lot to play around with..surround sound is very good .Working on my old Dual 1249 needs anew cartridge to play old vinyl.

I use to rave about this app! Now it is completely useless, so if you have a new phone with Android 9 on it - don’t waste your time, it won't work. It speaks volumes about Pioneer as a brand - no effort has been made to offer a replacement. Nothing like sticking a finger up at your loyal customer base. It does say one thing though: Pioneer can no longer be trusted to support their products! Shame on you Pioneer!!!!

stopped working after android pie update. Still doesnt work android 10. Expensive sound unit to buy just to have support for it stop. I WILL NOT BE BUYING another pioneer/onkyo product. You've had two version of android now to get his right and it's still not. Who would have thought a mobile app not working with their product would have caused a decrease in future sales.. Ridiculous!!!! That was sarcasm just in case you were confused...
