I like the service and using it already for two years. However, there is a lot of room to improve the application itself. First, there is no support for landscape mode. Long titles don't fit the screen's width and cannot be scrolled. Second, no support for Android TV. It is especially strange as the service allows streaming video (Global Concert Hall). Technically I can install the app on TV, but because of the (1) the interface is rotated 90 degrees :). I think guys should think about improving their Android application.
Above all , I like the music. Great selection and organization. But the app is filled with bugs or unclear guidance. How to upgrade to full lossless, for example. Instead of a simple click, there are several pages of confusing instructions, depending on where and how you subscribed, when your subscription runs out etc. Robs much of the listening pleasure.
One of the best after primephonic, which isn't available anymore. Absolutely love it. I only have premium, but the sound quality is already superb. EDIT: They actually added James Levine! And they fixed the problem!
It could be a great app! Amazing albums, great quality, congratulations really! But the system is so slow, sometimes I have to wait minutes, just even to see which albums did I move to the favourites...
IDAGIO is a cheesy classical music app — it does not come close to what Google Play Music used to be — the selections are geared towards mainly new musicians with limited skills who play boringly boring pieces because they cannot approach the great classical artists — and the vocal offerings are terrible — it is just another overpriced subscription that would disappear if Google YouTube Music got its act together — it is really bad pimping —
Great for classical music. However, I signed up to access the Global Concert Hall leading to immediate disappointment as there is no chromecast from Android, clearly second class citizen compared to iOS. I would love to see/hear the concerts on my TV without any fuss. After using it a while noticed small bugs: screen not loading, laggy, scrolling not smooth, adding up to a lesser experience. Will revisit the app+subscription when/if chromecast tv for concerts is supported on Android.
I subscribed from an old phone that's only used for music play back. Then the subscription wasn't properly processed. I was (theoretically) paying for it, but hadn't any of the benefits. Had to go to Google pay to cancel. Before that I noticed that the app wouldn't run on an older German giant Hannspree tablet, which is the main listening terminal with Android 5.1.1. Spotify had worked.
Great app, easy to use, fantastic range of music. Would be even better if you could sort and filter your collection and use Android Auto!
Would be a huge improvement if the player was persistent. Loses place if I pause during a listening session. Have to start over from the beginning of an album. Canceling my subscription if this doesn't get fixed in a recent update.
Having enjoyed the app despite some hickups, the removal without notice of the lossless streaming option on the premium subscription, after an increase in the cost of the premium plan in Canada (maybe google pay related, but again, no warning that google pay would handle the sub now), leaves a bad taste. Customer service provided no explanation except "lossless is available on premium+". Thanks! Will be cancelling.
Love the UI. needs dark mode asap. also, ability to download saved data.
I like the options for different sound quality levels. Really needs a radio type feature where I can filter what I want (i.e. piano music from any era) and just be able to hear something when I open the app without having to decide.
I love it, but there are a few things that are less than perfect. Here are two: 1. As someone mentioned, gapless play is needed on Android. 2. When my phone is linked to my car's sound system, the metadata that gets transmitted is wrong. The album and the performer are always listed as whoever the composer is. IDK how that works, but other apps don't show that weirdness, so it's not my car's fault or the fault of similar Bluetooth applications, in general.
This app is, by far, the best approach to classical music indexing and access that I have seen. The service is relatively quick to load, the catalog is vast, and the audio quality is high. I am canceling my subscription due to a lack of curation and nonexistent support for driving. I was looking for some kind of 'Music Genome Project' associated with the classical music, especially given the level of detail in the indexing. While there are featured composers and suggestions to 'explore,' the level of curation is not where I need it to be. The app doesn't even provide suggestions or 'you might also like...' at the end of playback. It just sits there, waiting for you. In addition, for an Android app this service does not provide many conveniences geared toward mobile use. I will excuse the lack of Android Auto (for the moment), but there isn't even a widget. These two reasons have led me to cancel my subscription. I will review the product and service as they continue to evolve.
A lot has been said about how great this app is, and it is all true. The amount of work that has been done on the organising the catalogue is immense and terrific. It's a pity that we still don't have Naïve label though. Why four stars then? Because the Android version doesn't have filtering feature in search (which iOS version has). It really is the most important feature of the service – and it's not here! It would be great if developers made implementing filtering their first priority.
This gives me most of the music that I want. The search engine works well for me so far (a few weeks of use). I find that the connection drops out frequently unless I download the disc - could be better. When I stop listening, e.g., the bus gets to the office, and I pause the music for a few hours, Idagio loses its place in the music entirely, whereas Spotify allowed me to resume where I left off - this may be my phone rather than the app, but how would I know. I will keep listening!
Great service. Wud be even better if u guys can add sleeve notes to albums- wud b real helpful for classical newbs like me. Another thing that could help us is if u demarcate albums according to periods- baroque, romantic etc. Anyway, really appreciate the service as of now..
