App keeps glitching out whenever I open an article. If I'm logged out it won't let me log back in

I have enjoyed this app until recently it has asked me to "log in" to simply read an article. I do not know when this change came about but I do not like it and will be deleting if it continues. ***Edited to add: the articles do not download correctly, multiple information repeats itself continuously under different headlines. No, it's not my phone.

I was unable to register due to unspecified user name requirements, making the download pointless. I'll use the website. I just want access to local news.

Can't read articles without registering. Registration is a joke, way too much info needed and the robot/ verify is difficult. More than normal.
