While this isn't quite like flying in an aircraft, it has been extremely valuable in practicing holds, hold entries, and scanning, all while using your smartphone for free! Very useful tool. While the hold practice seems useful, for hold entries I found it to be more valuable to great my own hold scenarios, as the in app hold practice either has not enough information, or too much information (already giving you the hold entry, etc.) Depending on which page of the hold practice you look at.
App works just as intended, although I would love for holding pattern and intercept exercises to have an adjustable course knob like in an aircraft. An analogue layout option would also be fantastic for those of us not flying on glass. Another small option would be to use the more conventional 'outbound' and 'inbound' terminology for intercepts rather than the Q codes.
Very good app, has entertained me for hours on end. A few minute hitches though, such as full screen ads can cause banner ads to cover content, not much explanation on what to do for a novice, and no runways for other airports in free fly, only for the one you took of from. Needs a bit more work.
A really good simulator, I really like all the levels with the holding pattern and the intercept pattern, and of course the free flight mode which is really hood imo. A hood simulator to train for IFR patterns, and just fly around in general.
I enjoy the holding patterns, good visual positioning reverence. Intercepting the inbound or outbound courses is also good, takes time. The 3rd option, I'm not sure about. I haven't figured it out yet.
I just started my CPL and I use this app everyday. It is a great and simple app that helps to practice your IFR without a pen and paper, so you can calculate the math quickly in your head. The best of overall! I recommended to many of my pilot friends and they liked it too!
I'm not an IFR pilot, or a soon to be one, but I find this app the best because "it's real time" and not just answering a questionnaire. It's also not unnecessary extravagant with graphics and works well on regular devices. Thumbs up!
It's okay, but not free. There's a huge banner ad that's covering the controls that you need to use, and there's no way to move or remove the ad unless you pay to have the ads removed. For all intents and purposes jf you want to use it, you have to buy it.
Awesome app for practicing holding entries and intercepts. Would be nice if it would include intercepts over 60°, with explanations. For the time being I fly them in the free flight mode.
Breathtaking app. Extremely useful, especially the free flight option. I just love it. I can't wait to see more features or even a computer version. Good work. Thanks
It would be great, if it made any sense. Put a helpful guide in there while you're flying. I kept trying to do what the "tutorial" said, but the panels kept spinning or dropping or rising. Oy!
I'm doing my IR training, this app is a perfect aid to make the calculations become a reflex. I can just grab my phone and practice for my next flight lesson anywhere, while waiting for my son or wife. No need for a simulator on my computer to practice holding and intercepting. Fantastic app, thanks!
The app is very very nice it has a nice interface and works well. It deserved 5* if it was updated regularly and if it was added more control over the speed in free flight mode
Great app for IFR holding, intercept courses, QDM and QDR practice! maybe one of the best app of its kind! graphics are pretty good and flight instruments are clear, correct and precise!
Great help for ADF and VOR, etc intercept training. Although the ads at the bottom can obstruct some of the buttons but otherwise it's a great app
Its really great but i feel like it is missing some more autopilot systems like vertical speed or autopilot ILS approach
Excellent app. But a split view of map alongside will be more beneficial for beginners to know what is happening with their command.
The App itself deserves ***** five stars. Update 8/29/20. developer has been responsive & trying to make changes so the banner won't impact the app functions. Upgraded to 3 stars. Hopefully to five soon. 8/26/20 My RESPONSE to the developers: as mentioned, the app is UNINSTALLED and I have no intention to reinstall to send you screenshots. Do it yourself; There is a GOOGLE AD banner at the bottom of the screen covering some controls. See other comments as well APP WAS UNINSTALLED. 8/25/20
Very very nice! I would like to be able to control the plane with tilt and rotation of the device, in the holding mode as well!
Almost useless... no feedback, just turn left and tight and try to make your plane follow a line on the map... any three year old could do this, and probably be bored of it in five mins like I was... Edit: yes I know what its for... im looking to get my IFR rating... but it doesn't tell you wether you got it right or wrong, or what you did, right or wrong... so its pretty much pointless... I can use it all day and not know wether I'm doing well or poorly...
A great training tool! Some 1 star reviews are not fair. This is a tool for you and your instructor to use , it won't hold your hand for you. Just like a book won't hold your hand either, but it's a great learning tool!
Excelent for learning the basic of IFR. I would prefer more freedom to choose wind instead of the random situations that are given. Anyway, it's worth the money
Perfect, just need to have control on vertical speed in autopilot.
Best free app to understand IFR and ILS . But you should have at least basic knowledge of Radial, inbound, outbound etc. Then this app will help you better to learn about IFR.
Demo or help files would help, but, it is for experienced pilots, and simulation is very good
This app is phenomenal! one of the best ifr trainer in the playstore! Thanks to the developers! It would be perfect if you add an ILS
Would be nice to have a split screen option to see where you're going when making changes
Please include intercepts more than 60° . Awesome app overall
Not a pilot (I wish), but I enjoy flight sims and learning everything I can about IFR. This app is not only a great tool for intuitivly understanding the geometry behind hold navigation, but also being able to practice windage adjustments. The addition of freeflight and multiple airports really shows the potential. I would love to see point to point radio navigation and an ILS landing simulation option + ingame link to charts/maps. This is fun learning!
