I can't fathom why IG cannot use one of the public authenticators and insist on using this. Not only is there no recovery option other than contacting IG, but upon re-instating, all I get is "an Internal Error has occurred with error code: -4500." Entering the codes via the manual option also does not work. *EDIT* 2 Weeks on and multiple emails & phone calls between 2 different helpdesks and still no resolution. Even using a new device from my side and still will not fix my 2FA issue.
Poor design and someone released the app even without testing the basic functionality. The moment you enable 2fa on the account is locked..
Useless. Now I can't even log into my account because my username is not recognised all of a sudden. I've 18 live trades which I cannot access and I cannot even get through to IG support on the phone, I have been trying on the phone the whole day. Thanks IG
Works. It would be better if the code was displayed immediately when opened. This is what the user wants >99% of the time. Also the font for the code is a bit small.
What a stupid app. Apparently we have to add the code to the end if the password when we login, but this critical information is not shared! I had to contact the helpdesk to figure out this unusual way of entering 2FA.
2FA is a good way not to get your money stolen, but this is a crusty old app which hasn't been updated to the most recent versions of Android, and that you append the code to the password is ludicrous.
As others have mentioned this app is pretty broken on Android. It consistently 'forgets' the registration details every few months and you have to get 2FA removed from your account to re-register. If you want 2FA then don't use IG.
Worst 2FA ive used. We are in 2021, get with the times. Get some better authentication methods like biometric scanning or tap to confirm.
It did work but it now no longer gives me a code, so I was locked out of my account until I phoned IG and got 2FA removed. Strongly suggest avoiding this broken and unmaintained app.
Would it have been such a huge ordeal for you to just support regular 2Step Authentication so that we can use Authy/Microsoft/Google Authentication apps instead?
I cannot scan a QR code because the phone screen turns green and I cannot see anything.
Update this thing, phone told me to update app when attempting to install. Based on other reviews not worth being locked out my acct. Uninstalled.
My first thought was why do I need to download a specific app for 2FA with IG. It still is. Absolutely no excuse not to support standard 2FA for a platform such as this IG !
Terrible User experience - I want the peace of mind from 2FA but having to append a code to my password every time is just plain stupid. C'mon IG let your developers build a better experience - I know they can.
How it works? What is serial number that I should to put and activation code? I change my number and email to instagram and security code sending to them. I can't receive that code coz I already have new number and email.
Has nothing to do with IG (instagram) this app ask for a serial number ??? Why. I just need a generator of codes ..
Setting up 2 factor Authy with this app will lock your account.... Do not use...
What's wrong with industry standards? I have to install an app for 2fa specifically for ig only... Mediocre implementation too

Account got locked, stupid
Frustrating to use. It doesn't remember the device so if you've not used the app for ten minutes or so you have to log back in and go and get a new number. There should be support for authenticator apps plus the ability for it to remember the device.
