After 2 years of research and development, and drawing from 20 years of experience, the team at iHuman have developed an app that provides a fun, interactive, and engaging reading experience for children aged 3–12.
iHuman Books is built on sound pedagogical principals that help children to become happy and confident readers. All stories can be read in English or Chinese and as either full, unabridged Story Books or shorter, Leveled Books.
In Story Books mode children can enjoy a wide range of stories from around the world written in authentic, natural prose. One-click allows users to switch between English, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, and Pinyin. Professional voice actors and narrators bring each story, chapter, and character to life in new and exciting ways.
In Leveled Books mode young readers can develop their English and Chinese reading skills with carefully graded text. In each book key vocabulary, grammar, and sentence patterns are highlighted and repeated to ensure clear opportunities for learning and comprehension. iHuman's Leveled Books can support children from absolute beginner up to international grade school reading standards.
All stories in iHuman Books are professionally illustrated and contain interactive links and animations on every page. AR technology provides new ways to interact with stories and characters. It does what it says on the tin not gimmicky or tries to upsell constantly. The app was difficult to use at times since it seemed cluttered, for e.g. around the payment tiers area the middle column was hard to read and that whole section seemed very busy, however I can see myself getting a subscription since I'm sure that's something they can correct via an update.
Does stop normally when it works is great! It help me with getting over my anxiety of coronavirus. I'm still worried about getting it but not I was worried about what's going on as I was before. I learned why I have to wear a mask and why I have to wear gloves. I also learned why we had to stay home. The problem I'm having right now though is I uninstalled the app I think it was by accident and then I reinstalled it. After I reinstalled it a second time it quit downloading the books and it won't
i love it so much..both my 9yo and 4yo adore it. what make it so interesting is the way the each character expresses their line in such lively and making the story come alive and the pictures interacted with the kids. worth to subscribe
love it so much! One thing is the font size is much too small I can hardly read. I hope you could change it.
It was a very good app for my child's reading skills. Her reading, speaking and listening skills improved a lot.

I would suggest that an additional setting be added where it reads one page on chinese and english. This reinforces the memory and understanding. Currently there is only the option to play the entire story in one language. The attention span of the child or adult isn't long enough to repeat the whole thing again, especially in the less comfortable language.
