The app is fine, not stellar but pretty functional. The system itself is pretty reasonably priced compared to competitors and works well when it works but it's just impossible when it doesn't. They've responded to a few reviews here saying they get a lot of issues with connecting but the support just says "follow the instructions in app" and if that doesn't solve your problem go away.

My only grievance is that you can't control the lights without being on the same wifi network. Other than that, in more than a year now I haven't had any problems or issues with it. Works perfectly. And also thank you so much for the little change of how you adjust time on timers: when adjusting the time it now starts from the previously set time instead of the current. It's much more comfortable this way!

The 'all off' scene successfully turns off the lights, but no new scenes can be created. Lights and remote do show up in managed lights & outlets. Can't group them either, even when on. There is no mention of troubleshooting steps available and no mention of email/chat support. I was hoping to get more IKEA smart devices but this is a major turnoff. Now I got 6 not-so-smart spots.

App was working OK, but now all of my blinds are greyed out in the app. They still show up, but I'm unable to control them via the app and smart assistants. I've tried recharging the batteries but that didn't help. At least controlling them via the open/close remote still works, but that's not optimal... *EDIT* I got my system working again by factory resetting EVERYTHING -- blinds, remotes, repeaters and Gateway -- and then adding them one-by-one back to the app. Again, not optimal :-(

I rated this 4 stars for months but an automatic update just DELETED all my scenes. Ive made new one's but another problem popped up. Scenes now switch on/off instantly, there is no more gradual dimming. It looks very jarring. EDIT: I Appreciate the quick reply. Shame about the deleted scenes but it can happen i suppose. Back to 4 🌟.

This is a terrible product. If you are looking to buy blinds that work reliably on a timer, I urge you to look elsewhere. I was thinking the problems had been overcome - the timer has worked for a whole two weeks! But now it's stopped working. Again. It's a joke. I wrote an email to the address in this app information page only to get a reply that I had to use the Website. And that then tells me all email routes are closed! So frustrating. Potential purchasers - be warned.

alright. I miss being able to turn down the lights to the minimum by drawing the slider, without turning them off. I wish I could give some feedback/bug reports through the actual app, not here. I've had lots of issues with duplicate lights, bulbs that refuse to connect. I don't regret smart bulbs at all, but I'm not bought into IKEA's system.

Tradfri gets ever better in time, impressive, in that context › an advice considering improvements of in-hand practicalities that would make smooth accessibility to power on/off control › for start, great if you'd give us eg home screen widget switch, or even further, button control while phone idle, so it would have a bit of touch with real remote controller that toggles lights, not big investment › improved accessibility, IKEA rules 😊🧡

Once every 1 or 2 months it disconnects from Google home. It then takes 15 minutes to connect it back. Certainly not hassle free, which turns a technology that should make life easier, turns life actually more frustrating.

disorganised and confusing with too many subcategory of items within more subcategory of items... not intuitive at all and a chore to use. integrates in with Alexa when it feels like it. wish I'd opted for more logically thought out platform.

Since a few weeks the gateway doesn't connect to the app. All the status leds are lit but you have to disconnect the network or power cable to get connection back every two days. Super annoyed at the moment.

1. Should have a healthy mode, that could turn off the ZigBee signal during the night. 2.Another nice to have feature: possibility to reduce motor speed. Very useful for bedroom, to wake up slowly, silently and smoothly with sunrise.

Latest update broke gateway sync. Took about 50 tries to get it reconnected. It has always had trouble staying connected, and the app needs to be forcibly restarted often. The gateway itself needs to be power cycled once every week or two. That said, when it works it works. I love that it doesn't have any cloud nonsense and is just LAN-only. I just wish it were more stable. A bit pushy with the ads for new ikea stuff, too. Constantly swiping away pop-ups.

After reading the mixed reviews. I can't seem to get my head around those. For me the experience with the app has been nothing but great, all the functions seem to work and colour is depicted with the correct buttons. An improvement could be a dark mode for the app and a better way to swap custom scenes (took me a minute to figure it out, you need to hold a scene for too long)

This is an insult. One gets all the devices and it turns out to be the most disfunctional software you own. Forget trying to get a decent tutorial. You will get videos of plug and play scenarios but no way to find help for troubleshooting. So disappointing and frustrating. Not worth the affort and the money even if it's cheaper than other systems it is not worth it.

I had some issues pairing new light bulbs after a recent app update, but the issue is resolved now and the lightbulbs are paired without extra work. I'm not sure if there was another update that fixed it, I don't know what happened, the bulbs just magically appeared in the app when I checked today. The app updates have improved usability and functionality over time, which is great. Hope it can be done consistently without anything breaking :)

App never stays connected to gateway. Everytime I open it it pops up a message "you were disconnected for security precautions" then I have to go scan the QR code again. I live in a tri-level with the gateway on the bottom floor. Do you have any idea how infuriating this is to have to keep going all the way down three floors to reconnect this stupid app? I've started using Hue Essentials which has no problems staying connected, but why should I have to use a third party app? FIX THIS!!! 😡

Fine app. Would be awesome to see more control. e.g. light control with the movement sensor. Currently limited to 100% or 30%, no in-between or lower. I'm hoping more effort will be put into the app as I see a huge potential here.

This app often resets itself to the point you have to re-pair it with your bridge, added with the tendency of the bulbs to start blinking after two years of use, I just can't be bothered anymore and will abandon Ikea smart lighting entirely

idk if it's Google or IKEA, but integration with Google is STILL unreliable. I noticed I had written the same thing in 2019 when I opted the review here. Otherwise it's a good reasonably priced smart home system.

Another Update lights have randomly started turning on at night at full brightness absolutely appealing. I've left multiple updated reviews and all are 1 star because I can't do zero super unreliable and I now have bulbs disconnecting AGAIN. UPDATE I actually have a signal repeater all ready it's either the software or the hardware. It's a tiny house as well with lots of bulbs I think the hub is just poor.

I'm updating my review because IKEA has been adding a lot new cool functionality. | The good: -price quality ratio - shortcut buttons are awesome now -timers are brilliant. | The bad: -Google integration is not reliable (not sure whose fault that is) -Give us widget please! :) -Tradfri remote only turns lightbulbs to their opposite state which is useless when you have a scene which doesn't use all lights and then want to simply switch them off. -App sometimes can't connect (restart is a fix)

App is fine. But because I can't use Symfonisc without Sonos App, Ikea app becoming useless. Sonos app works terrible, out of the blue system just stops playing music without any changes.

One light in a group has to be reset everyday. Defeats the purpose of the smart lighting when you have to always get up to fix it Edit 10-25-21: From two stars to one. The above problem has yet to be fixed. This problem existed long before the app auto asked me to leave a review more than two months ago. Edit 3-2-22: One star to four. Dropout hasn't occurred in about the last month. Nice followup by the dev team

The whole IKEA smart home offering, is a perfect example of the adage "you get what you pay for." The Philips Hue smart home allows much greater control and is more reliable, but the cost of entry is much higher. For a lot less, the IKEA set up works satisfactorily most of the time. This app will randomly fail to find the gateway sometimes. Sometimes certain bulbs are greyed out and can't be controlled for no apparent reason. I'd love more control of how devices behave based on the time.

If you have more than one home/gateway, the app is practically worthless as you have to re-pair each time you switch house (having to scan a code etc).

It's okay... Scenes are unfortantely pointless atm, for the standard remotes can not change them. That requires a seperate device... The app itself takes long to load and still misses out on dark mode. For a LIGHTING app that is often used at the end of the day, to turn off lights in bed... Update: The latest version gives options for a more finegraded light color setup. That is a very good addition.

software always jams on the phase where you you need to select the product cathegory or it does not find the product. unable to press done button and then you need to start over again. prepare to use hours and hours for reinstalling everything again and again.
