I wish I had found this app years ago. I'm currently learning Japanese 6000 with Quizlet. But it's almost impossible to understand the context of words. This app makes it so easy with the sentences! And having actual voice actors instead of Google voice is great. I'm short before paying expect I wish I could type in hiragana instead of romaji characters! Update: meanwhile I subscribed, they are actively maintaining it and fixed the issue with the keyboard quickly! Awesome 👍

I think its great. After using Anki forever its nice to use something where everything is managed for you. Two points of critique are: when you want to select something to immediately master after a session, it refreshes the entire view. Second, the keyboard is a bit rigid and small. Would like it to have some polishing and perfecting, so it works for various fingers.

Best japanese app I've used, in my opinion! The only app I've paid for for japanese. I do wish there was a one off payment option, rather than subscription model, but otherwise it is exactly what I want. It's a good tool for vocab, giving you a mix of words on different subjects and in different contexts (sound only/kanji only /fill in the blanks /multiple choice etc) which means you can't just guess the word from the pattern of questions, which I find happens a lot in other apps.

I love the website associated with this app. To use either you will need an account, so the app is free, but the account requires a subscription. Both, website and the app, are effectively feature-rich flashcards. Best feature is being ablity to create your own custom study elements/courses. You can piece together what is already provided, or supply your own words, sentences, audio, and images. This app lets you access your content on the go, and has an additional study method for listening.

Edit Update: Seven months after reporting clipped audio on the Samsung Galaxy 4 tablet, nothing has changed. I've now dropped this to one star and uninstalled the app to free up space. October 2018 Post:The latest update is clipping off the audio from the end of a lot of sentences and verbs on the Samsung Galaxy 4 tablet. At the moment, it's unusable on my tablet. It works on my Moto G phone though.

In Japanese reviews, unable to enter the consonant extender to correct mistakes due to lack of space and inability to backspace. Please add っ and digraph characters to input keyboard. *Edit* I am not asking for advice on how to type in Japanese, nor am I confused on the process like the developer response suggests. I am stating that inputting the consonant extender DOES NOT WORK during reviews if there isn't enough space. During reviews, correct parts of a sentence become blocked off, and you can only make changes to the incorrect portions. You cannot type in the consonant extender if there isn't an adjacent space to the right of it (you need to type in a consonant twice to make it appear). I would post a screenshot to demonstrate but google doesn't allow that.

It's a perfect app to learn Chinese in my spare time (which is scarce). It is very simple to navigate and gives me a manageable portion to digest every day.I highly recommend it for those who don't have much time but would like to keep up on their studies. The key is to persist. 加油!

Audio is skipping for my phone (Xperia 10 III), which is weird because I didn't have this problem with other phones.

Very much enjoyed the app for a few years. Recently upgraded to a Realme 5 Pro, and cannot get the app to run. Remains stuck on title screen. Hopefully there will be a fix soon so I can use the app on the go again. Edit: Dev provided tip below for any others (along with myself) having this issue. Prompt response = great support. 5 stars.

Love this app, I use multiple apps for studying Japanese, but this is my go to for vocabulary and even has great audio content. It breaks the core 6000 words down in sections of 100 words for each step. Ex. Core 2000 step 5 would be from 2,500 to the next 100. (2,600) and so on. May ways to quiz yourself and love the SRS system it uses. The only thing I'd change is make it an option to be forced to type in each Japanese word instead of having it be random. This would improve recall. GREAT APP!!

This app helped me to have a breakthrough with my Japanese! After many years or stagnation I finally found a way to improve my vocabulary in a fun, addictive and gamified experience. I spent at least 1 hour a day using this app and my progress is really good. For those who complain about the price, it is actually very cheap to pay a bit more than $10/mo. for this quality of software.

Extremely happy to have found this app. Like others I've been primarily using Anki for a long time now, but this really puts you on auto-pilot all the way from beginner to N2 for vocabulary and kanji reading. I love that it combines different kinds of tests to really solidify the new words in your head. For the developers: are there any plans to release new vocabulary and levels to get students to the 10,000 word level (for JLPT N1)?

i been using iknow for years. its a great app, except for the way it teaches Kanji which is really half assed. There is no way one can learn the vocab of these Kanji by just tossing them on the screen. They are way too complicated! Some smaller steps walking you through the kanji with writing practice etc. would be a lot better. This fail makes it harder to learn the vocabulary, and is why i gave 3 stars instead of 5.

I like this app. However I had a issue about learning process. Firstly, when I study vocabulary I can't read Kanji , I'm beginner (of cause when you press a word it shows Kanji readings), when you try memories all vocabulary and make a test, it doesn't show Kanji meaning only Kanji- result test failed. However I know this word but I can't make a progress in learning process. If possible can you update a application with some tools, example set up turn on - turn off furigana. Waist Money.

This app has been quite helpful for learning Japanese vocabulary! It does a good job of teaching you as much is possible in a small amount of time. My only significant complaint is that it doesnt tell you any details about the word. I wish it more clearly differentiated 一段 (ru) and 五段 (-u) verbs (e.g. 帰る looks 一段 but is actually 五段), and 形容詞 (i-adjectives) from 形容動詞 (na-adjectives) (e.g. 嫌い looks like an 形容詞 but is actually a 形容動詞), as well as marking whether verbs are transitive or intransitive.

App is not free to use, and this is not stated at any point prior to installation or beginning to use it. After your first 5 study sessions, you have to pay either $15 a month or $55 for a year to continue using it. Those prices are expensive, considering there are better-known and completely free alternatives such as Duolingo, Quizlet, etc. I enjoyed using this app and I like its course structure, but it doesn't bring anything to the table that its free competitors do not.

Perfect for mobile study. Found myself without my laptop or desktop and discovered that study wasn't possible by just going to the website on a smartphone. The app makes it possible to study on the go and maintain your streak.👍

lyi. Oct 22, 2020

Great for studying as it contains high quality audio files for every single word and sentence and thus one can get accustomed to the pitch differences. Easy to use and reliable. Worth the money and time 👍🏻👍🏻😁😁❤️❤️

Fil. F. Jan 9, 2022

Pretty good app. Can you just add an option for increasing font size? It's very hard to read sentences especially in Traditional Chinese.

Dia. Dec 16, 2018

If I minimize the app and i'm 70% through with one review session once I go back to the app a few minutes later, all my progress is reset and it appears as though I have not reviewed anything and I have to start from scratch.

Zav. L. Feb 5, 2021

The price is a bit steep, but it's an excellent spaced repetition program. Extremely useful for learning vocabulary.

Jar. Dec 9, 2021

I love this app, and the website. I would pay for the premium version if it was cheaper. Also a lifetime option would be great.

Jii. E. Aug 29, 2020

looks pretty good but with hin the limited settings and thinking about how some extremly complex 3d softwares including 2TB drives are less expensive oO. quite disappointed actually...

R.H. N. Apr 2, 2021

For my purposes; the service is worth the asking price. A no-frills utility for learning Japanese. Give the free trial a shot and you'll know whether you need it or not. They give you four free sessions - I bought in after one. Good luck.

Uninstalled. Terrible. Overpriced pro version, what you get is not worth it. Not user friendly. Clunky and unimaginative. Duolingo/Memrise are MUCH MUCH better.

Absolutely the best. Has helped me both with chinese and japanese. Excellent app for learning new vocabulary.
