I really want to love this app and the sheer level of control it gives you over the light show. However, it has recently broken in functionality, being completely unresponsive to local songs added on Spotify that had worked literally the last time. Which is a shame, because all of a sudden one of my favorite songs will come on, but then the lights will stop. I would also suggest adding some form of on-screen metronome for setting up delay.
This is a great app, a brilliant idea and so easy to set up and go! Unfortunately, despite turning it off via the switch in app (and even disconnecting Spotify the last time), I often find I drive home from work to find all my lights on in weird hues (of red and purple mostly) and an inability to turn them off via hue unless I turn them all off. I open ilightshow and it's turned itself back on again.... can't figure out why or how it is doing this.
Overall this app is very well made. The music reacts to the beats of music and it is generally different per song. I will say that I wish the setting you change would save so I don't have to configure it every day. Moreover, I find I have to add about .-30 delay for the timing to be more accurate. I look forward to seeing how this app continues to develop.great job.
Great app! Does what it says and is very easy to use and I'd definitely recommend it. I have both Hue and Nanoleaf lights set up and they work great. I knocked 1 start off because 1) sometimes timing is off, particularly if I'm casting music. 2) I wish it had more customizability (what's there is good though!) 3) It'd be nice if it supported Hue entertainment groups instead of only traditional Hue "rooms". Fwiw, a Windows app would be nice 🙂
Excellent app for Spotify subscribers! I do feel I made a bit of a jump though to pay for this app considering the demo is really limited. This is exactly what I wanted to be able to sync my lights with any Spotify device that can play music, rather than being limited to the speakers on my phone. Now I have a serious light show in my backyard with 10+ lights. Number 1 ask though is the ability to have a baseline beat so I can adjust the delay so that the music is perfectly in sync.
I've been using the Hue Sync app for desktop and have really been enjoying it. I wanted to find an equivalent app for my Android device and this app was exactly what I was looking for. It was the only one I could find that syncs with Spotify without having to use the device's microphone. I use it when listening to my bluetooth headphones and it's awesome! The free version only lets you use one light and is mostly just a way to test out the app to see if you like it. Upgrading to the full version was definitely worth it for me. It offers a lot of customizeability with the light colors and effects. It even lets you set a delay if you feel that the sync is slightly off. I recommend this to anyone looking for a mobile version of the Hue Sync app.
Really enjoy the app a lot! A really useful feature would be to be able to tap your screen in rhythm with the music in order to help calibrate the delay. The delay is a nice feature to have to make sure everything stays in sync, but it is a little difficult to set up manually and I find that it often needs adjustments so it would be nice if they were easier 😊
Trust me, I've tried all of the music syncing options out there and this is absolutely the best one. No app is going to be a perfect lighting designer, but this one is really, really good. Pick songs with clear melodies & beats and you'll have better results. EDM it does fantastic with. Also adding a delay between ~+.3s to .6s seems to work best with syncing it for me, but this will fluctuate especially based on how you're playing the music (through your phone, bluetooth, etc).
FINALLY, an app that my HUE lights respond IN SYNC to my music! Works really well with Spotify, after a few seconds jumps into each song and lights flash to the beat, pretty accurate, does not need the phone mic. I wanted to support this excellent app that no others can do, so I bought the upgrade and love being able to customize colours, flash speed, and more! Totally worth it, keep up the great work!!
Best Philips Hue lightshow app I found so far! Syncing to music is near perfect and much better than any other app I tried so far. I have some Gledopto led controllers that control ledstrips to light my glass cupboard shelves. Although they are not compatible with Hue entertainment, they can still be used for ambient (slower) effects, which is a really big advantage of this app. I would love to see some more advances options such as changing the color scheme over time (e.g. different color scheme at the next song) to have some more variation.
Best app for the Philips Hue i've used, and totally worth paying for the pro version. The app syncs with music directly through your spotify app which produces better light patterns than the ones that sync through the microphone. Only reason I didn't give a full 5/5 rating is because you can't control multiple lights separately (ie. All lights must be the same color, can't have each light be a different color).
I really like the app. I use it with my Spotify app and it works quite well. The main problem that I found is that sometimes, when I pause/stop a song in Spotify, iLightShow doesn't stop the lights - the lights continue as if the song were playing. When it happens, I click on 'Logout from Spotify' within the iLightShow app and log in back, then it works again. Also, there is a slight delay since I start playing the song in Spotify until the lights start to change. Besides that, amazing app!
*NOT WORTH THE MONEY* This app is very over priced. Double the price of Hue Disco for just having the functionality for Spotify. The trial is only one bulb so hard to tell if it will be any good. It does move in sync with the beats however on a set up of 12 bulbs, it really doesn't have a great disco lights effect. I would avoid buying unless the developer brings down the cost.
It works for a minute maybe even 5 then stops. Then when I restart the apl, it changes all the bulbs to the exact same color. It kills any vibe to constantly reset the all while listening. There needs to be a better option for selecting a delay than the current slider that is too sensitive and hard to stop on a specific number. There should also be an option to use all colors the bulbs can create in addition to manually adding single colors one by one. There's promise but it needs improvement.
So far I really enjoy using the iLightShow app. Its simple and intuitive, easy to use. It discovered my 6 LifX color (1000/mini mix) as well as my LifX Beam, no problem. I wish it had some flowing color effects for the Beam bar but it's ok I guess. The reason I didn't give 5 stars is the lack of effects. In fact, it's pretty much just the one choice of flashes or nothing with varying degrees of intensity and colors. I would have enjoyed some effects similar to the Light DJ app, but thats $90🤣
A great solution for spotify integration that is sorely missing out of the box for Lifx. You definitely won't get the proper experience with the free version of this app (that doesn't include Party Mode). There are a few bugs needing to be ironed out, but besides this, a great solution.
The developer quickly responded to me and informed that he's working on a new release of the software. My original complaint is about the syncing of the lights appearing to be random instead of actually syncing. I will give three stars now because the developer was so quick to respond and with a possible solution. I will withhold judgment until the new version comes out. Thank you Nicolas.
This app is great for spicing up your room when you're bumping, tripping, or partying! It's really well made and I don't even want to know how tedious it was to get the music to visualize with Spotify instead of a mic. Give this homie some credit and buy the upgrade. It is totally worth it. 👏👏👏
When it works it's amazing. However im giving it a two star for right now because connecting it is a headache. I use a (one) Lifx Bulb in my room. After many attempts to connect the bulb to this app (with the bulb working absolutely fine on the Lifx app itself) it will FINALLY connect after I clear the cache and data from the app. I also have to rediscover the bulb and reconnect Spotify every single time I want to launch said app. But like I said after all of that it works perfectly.
so far so good, the app works even if you use a different device to olay the music. for instance if i cast from my phone spoyify to my xbox (which is connected to my audio system) than the lights still work. ive been waiting for a simple option that does not use a microphone for a long time. tha ks for making the app man.
Great app, only issues that I have are that it takes to long to figure out if it can sync or not. Sometimes it says syncing even though it isn't. Sometimes it takes 20-30 seconds to start syncing with the lights after confirming it's syncing. Sometimes it stops syncing in the middle of syncing.
I love this app… I like using it during Christmas when I can set the color of the lights to red and green and have them flash in time with Christmas carols... I wish that there was a way to make the lights Flash in time with the bass line of a song to keep the rhythm.... And have the other lights Flash with the vocals and some of the other music.. But over all this is a very cool app
Love the app. Works perfeftly with Spotify and Philips Hue bridge. Slight issue though. I've just changed Hue bridge to use static IP address..was able to pair it with app by adding it via IP address. But once "search" voa the app..it was able to add the bridge and pair. But now I have a unsuable entry on the list with thr same IP address that I cannot delete.
Good app to sync Hue to Spotify. Family and friends love the light show when playing music and it gives the room a nice vibe. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because if the app is left on sync mode after done playing music, the lights can't be controlled by my home automation app. On some occasions I forgot to turn off the sync mode, only to wake up the next morning with all the other lights in the house turned off through a bedtime scene, except the Hue lights controlled by the app.
