Quite happy with it so far. Easy enough to connect the bulbs and play with the different settings from multiple devices, even at the same time. Annoying to reset each bulb though if I were to change my Wifi name or take the bulbs elsewhere. Would like the ability to control the lights from my computer as well.
Not easy to use! I did get it to work after I learned I needed 2.4ghz turned on on my router, but then getting it into the Google Home app is still not working, and now I cannot login to the cloud app anymore! The app says I am not logged into the network, which I am... Rebooted my phone several times!! This is just overly frustrating for a simple procedure! Luckily I was smart and only purchased 1x $30 bulb .... Hopefully their support can fix this issue!
Fun lights. In the app, it would be nice if you could choose your playlists on the music instead of picking each individual song. Sometimes it makes my songs glitch, almost like a skip on a record. But they're fun and work well.
fun to play with, but not totally user intuitive. Ive had it for about a month now, and have had to reconnect the bulb 3 times. edit: It's not an issue with the network..the app freezes regularly and deletes my fixtures. Ive now had to reconnect it 5 times.
I really want to give this 5 stars. The app works great on your phone but if you want to use a pc to control these lights it is next to impossible. (background: I am in a situation where I need to use hubless wifi lights. All I want to do is sync audio to the light through my pc.)
Works well. happy to see the app being updated. I have 8 lights connected through the app. Six of them specifically illume branded. When linking to your google home you actually link your Magic Home WiFi account as Illume isn't listed. I had some trouble with my Meraki access point not playing well with these lights, esp8266 based lights in general, so I have setup an old 2.5 Ghz wifi router as a dedicated access point for my lighting.
Not for the novice. I had some frustration setting my bulbs up with google assistant. I managed to make it work though. In the illume app you need to go to the home menu and select device manager. You will see a globe that is grayed out. You need to enable it by going to remote settings. When you add the device in the google home app, look for Magic Home wifi and login with your illume credentials. Good luck and I hope this helps someone.
This is the most complicated light on the face of the planet. I would never buy this product again based on what it says it can do. 90% of the features with this lighting system do not work. Nothing in my house other than this has an issue with internet connection. I find it hard to believe it would be a fault other than the lights.
I installed the same bulb in two locations and after successfully controlling the bulb through the app for 1 minute or so, the bulb stopped responding. it remained on even when I shut it off. This seemed to happen both times after the warm white and cool white were selected. The bulb doesn't work.
Everything is good and even great with this product, been using it for few years now. But, missing daylight savings update, and turning lights on and waking up the entire house 1 hour earlier, that is just brutal. Fix it guys!
Quit working after a month. Disconnects from network, you cant change wifi pw easily. When it works, it's great...but it doesnt always work and it's a huge pain to reset. UPDATE: I contacted support, they sent a new controller but that stopped working then started working again. Now it's hit or miss. I wrote back to the company about my disappointment given the high cost of the item and I received a response along the lines of "We're sorry you feel that way. We'll pass these comments along."
Works fine no concerns. Changed wifi settings per instructions from 5ghz band to 2.4 everything works. Point for improvement - sunrise un-dimming function jerks / strobes a bit. Would be amazing to have just gradual increase in brightness.
The bulbs worked very well for 2 years but now they don't connect to our wifi - so there is zero control over colour or intensity. It says it cannot connect to 5g wifi networks?? How is there not a software update for this? Developers please solve this issue....
bought 6 of the lights. 4 for my 9yo room and 2 for a hallway. Had them in my daugters room and she was so excited to have them. Been in for 2 weeks, had to reconnect all the lights 4 times and reinstall the app 3 times and factory reset 3D times. So disappointed as is my daughter. Not recommended at this time at all.
Wifi connectivity does not work i have rest the lights and the router several times. I have even tried moving around the house to different locations. The app will not connect to the lights
does not connect to network. worst purchase ive made in a while. will not be recommending these lights. there should be able to connect easier and without relying on wifi.
First day after purchasing and my only complaint is the colored brightness fully turned up doesnt seem that bright. Other than that all the features work wonderfully and I live away from anyone so i have no connectivity issues and such. But i imagine because it's a wifi connected lightbulb that other things interfere with the connectivity causing others issues. But for me this bulb is working wonderfully and not really any proper complaints thus far.
Can't connect to Google home even though the product says "works with Google" Constantly disconnects from the network and needs to be reset. Very disappointed with the lights and product. Don't waste your money
I don't want to create an account just to control a light strip with my phone. I don't care about Amazon echo or whatever else can control it... how about make that optional or only require when pairing with other services. This is dumb
Easy to use, easy to set timer, easy to change colour, no wires to connect. What more can you ask from a light bulb? Excellant.
worked well until I turned the lights on in the morning using the switch and everyone of the lights was doing something different, unless you appreciate waking up to a strobe light dont bother. I don't what to do or who is going to pay to redo the ceiling.
I got myself a set of recessed lights. They work with the Illume app but not on a list of Google home supported devices. Packaging says they are. Could you please help?
It works exceedingly well on my pixel 3XL but not on my chromebook...Come on guys chromebooks rock and it would be great to be able to use it while surfing or creating stuff on my chromebook.
The lights themselves costed $100 and the remote it came with was super cheap and stopped working within the first two months... not even a year after buying it now dosent connnect to my wifi so i have no way to controll them
The groups you create for the lights are always lost and you are constantly redoing. You will get real food at switching the lights on and off 4 times etc....wish we never would have bought them.
It's 2018, this app should work in Android version 8, version 6 is what you have to roll back to in order for the app to work with the bulb. Taking bulb back to the store $30
The app is a complete fail. Can't connect so I decided to just use the lights on a wall switch. Try another brand
Never wants to connect to the bulbs, do not buy the bulbs they do not want to connect to the wifi and randomly disconnect. Not satisfied!
I don't know what everyone else's issues are but this app is super straight forward and is working great. I had no issues and I love it.
If only we could browse music by genre, artist, album and create playlists, that would make this app even better! In response to Dals Lighting: I do mean this app, under the function Music, right after the Mic function and before the camera function. If you need a screen capture, I will gladly provide it to show what I mean :)
