Impulse - Twitch Client

Four stars... Great app, no more ear blasting ads while I'm watching a stream on my device, but there's one issue that the twitch app does better. Your picture in picture works if I go back to the phones "desktop" or even use another app at the same time, but in your app itself if I'm watching the stream, I can't go back and browse other streams and still have the picture in picture like I can on the twitch app...

Unfortunately the video player for VODs is broken. The scroll bar gets "stuck" and you lose your place when you try to skip forward or backwards.

Nice supplement to the missing features of the official app. On my device playback and UI feels smoother than the official app. Tho because of API restrictions the official app is still needed for example to follow, subscribe to a channel.

Overall very good. I've been using it as my preferred client for watching twitch on mobile for a while now and besides not being able to earn channel points it's alot better of an experience than the default app. Only suggestion I would have is adding 7tv if it's possible.

Very much needs a dark mode! But the official Twitch app has been really buggy, and Impulse has mostly been more stable.

I like this app but for some reason when I check followed channels it crashes. This happens on all my devices.

Impulse is the best alternative I found to the official Twitch app, which refuses to use my whole screen and also doesn't allow Twitch's low latency mode. Impulse does whilst also supporting BetterTTV and FrankerFaceZ emotes. They've added the ability to size the chat from 0% to 100% width in landscape mode, which used to be limited to a minimum of 25%. Now the player and chat fit snuggly side-by-side on my 21:9 screen.

Happy to find this app is working great these days. Using a galaxy s10e latest update. Recent API updates have broken many alterate twitch apps, even twitches own app is having issues. Surprizingly this app is working great. Bttv and frankerZ emotes enabled, would love to see 7tv emotes added too.

There is a bug where scolling on your followed channels will crashe the whole app and close it.

Not draining the battery when watching the stream and there's bttv

So far pretty good. Would like to see a feature to watch a stream while browsing. Also when starting to chat. The keyboard appears and pushes the chatbox up. However it doesn't take the messages with it so you have to scroll down to see the most recent message. Also when chatting in landscape mode. The keyboard and textbox completely cover the screen. I would prefer the way twitch does it. Other then these things I really enjoy the low delay and visibility of all emotes :D

i love this app soooo much, i wrote a review under a different account, just whould like the ability to Favorite emotes soni dont have to scroll down the list everytime, and auto bandwith setting doesnt work for me, other then that i really like it. Update-- it says you added external player, it just makes full screen video for me, is it supposed to be picture in picture? also the new mention ability is perfect!!!

I like the BTTV emotes, and somewhat less ads. My only problems are when you go landscape mode while chatting you cant use emotes and it pulls up a white screen, which blinds you at 2 am. You also cant click links, i would love to be able to click a link and it pulls up chrome or an in app browser like the twitch app. Also it would be really handy to be able to set Auto quality. Thank you!

it functions... but doesn't allow you to @people for fast quick responses. doesn't give you the ability to timeout people as a mod. it's actually quite amazing for the average person if all you do is watch content on twitch. has a beautiful interface plus no ads. simply lacking features. will come back and check

Excellent alternative to the official App. It doesnt contain many features of the official App but the viewing experience is the most important factor for me and the official App, unlike this one, stutters, lags and freezes like crazy. Forgoing some of the features for a smoother watching experience was a no-brainer.

Looks like twitch updated something on their end which broke this app, only getting blank results.

Too many bugs when u go in mini screen an drains battery 3 stars because there's no 3rd party app for twitch available

Downloading this app three years later, surprised to see active development. The app looks beautiful and everything works perfectly other than login on KitKat which is evidently unavoidable. Great app!

I had no problems using the app until around a week ago. I even donated because the app was working so well and I was enjoying my experience.however,now it just says "Failure to loading livestream" most of the time. And the stream simply doesn't load and I have to use the normal twitch app. on the off chance that it does work I have to select "auto quality" in stream quality several times before it works. sometimes after doing this the stream will just stop and take me back to the app menu. :(

App stutters frequently during playback. Tried different resolutions to no avail. Hope the stuttering gets fixed! On essential PH-1

I was happy to see you're still around, I came back after my latest twitch companion stopped working, I had to create a new profile as I forgot everything about my last profile but I was able to watch Twitch once I did, keep up the good work!

Great app, Would love an in-app pop out player when you browse streams, also BTTV emotes took some time to work, should probably get some disclaimer. Thank you. 😃 Edit: Also VODs don't have chat for some reason.

The best app out there for twitch emotes, I can type and it would appear 100% unlike other apps I have tested. One thing is that wish it would have a mini player when you go to the home menu, when you leave someone's stream, and when you go landscape mode you can't see chat wish that was a thing too but other than that honestly the best app for what it's.

@orangemuffin, the embedded ads have been around for months. What I'm saying, is that even if I am subbed to a streamer, I'll still get ads. On the actual twitch app obviously you aren't supposed to and don't. So that entails a token problem within the app. Try looking into coding streamlink into the video player of the app. That will get rid of all ads. (It does on the PC). Please keep up the work on this app.

Edit - I just discovered something nice. This app works with Kore (the Kodi remote) to send the stream to another device (similar to chromecast). This is far easier than trying to use twitch directly on Kodi (and also slightly easier than using the app itself on a big display, because it doesn't respond to the remote control multimedia buttons, and you have to faff around with a mouse, though I think the app plays slightly better than Kodi) Don't bin your old Android streamers, this app (now) works brilliantly on them. (But you need a mouse) A nice app that works well and is easy to use. I noticed that the option to set preferred resolution results in an error if transcoded streams are unavailable rather than just playing the original, and it is fiddly to change this on the fly, dud to the need to swipe up after pressing the cog. SEGURO P3B 1500, Android Projector Android 4.4 P.S. I'd be quite happy to have an option to turn off the ad blocker fully, and just see the adverts they want to send.
