Inbox by Gmail

Your email inbox should help you live and work better, but instead it often buries the important stuff and creates more stress than it relieves. Inbox, built by the Gmail team, keeps things organized and helps you get back to what matters.
• HIGHLIGHTS
- Get the most important information without even opening the message. Check-in for flights, see shipping information for purchases, and view photos from friends right up front.
• BUNDLES
- Similar messages are bundled together so you can deal with them all at once. And get rid of them with one swipe.
• REMINDERS
- More than mail, you can add Reminders so your inbox contains all the things you need to get back to.
• SNOOZE
- Snooze emails and Reminders to come back when you are ready to deal with them: next week, when you get home, or whenever you choose.
• SEARCH
- Inbox helps you find exactly what you’re looking for— from your upcoming flight to a friend's address— without having to dig through messages.
• WORKS WITH GMAIL
- Inbox is built by the Gmail team, so all your messages from Gmail are here, along with the reliability and spam protection of Gmail. All of your messages are still in Gmail and always will be.

I'll add my vote for keeping inbox around. Not that it will make any difference. I've been into tech for 30 years and that's the sad thing about it. Just when you get things to work the way you want they take it away. Or change it to where it just isn't usable anymore. This app has revolutionized email. Before, email was such a chore, sometimes I didn't even want to check it. Now it's a joy. So organized and simple. I even use the website on my PC browser for inbox. Works just the same as the app and is in perfect sync. Of course, there is a slight learning curve but that is so worth it. Since I heard they were eliminating inbox, I also updated and checked out Gmail. It's not even close! Awful! I really hope that they incorporate all the great features of inbox into Gmail, and then we will have another useful app. But only time will tell.

Makes email clean and clutter free, shows you arriving messages at times you want to read them (you can set this up manually, but Inbox also guesses which messages are important at this moment, and which are not). Not all of that works perfectly, but it works good enough to spare my time. + Bundles! Sorts out the trash for you! Single Inbox, no tabs! The only downside is that it is phasing out by March 2019.

Inbox provides a focused view of what I need to see with my email. There isn't anything quite like it out there. I can't simply switch back to the gmail app. Would be a step backwards. Reading an article saying it was being discontinued next year was very disappointing to say the least. I hope Google will reconsider because it would be a mistake. Don't end Inbox, give it more support!

I'm so depressed that you're going to make this app obsolete! I'm trying to get used to Gmail but it doesn't come close to Inbox! I love the bundles like purchases, trips, finance. I love the sneak preview of unopened emails! I loved that we were able to save items from the net to read later! I loved how our calendar events are listed in our inbox list! Honestly, this is the one app I always use!!!! It's an app that makes your phone a Smartphone!!!😥 So depressing! So stupid if you guys taking it down. And yes, I've looked at intergration article , not close!!!!

I want to hate this app so much for accidentally taking over 1.5gb of mobile data this week but I can't. It has me over a barrel with how intuitive it is and how it manages my mail without me having to do much. For productivity it surpasses everything out there. I've tried other apps to do the same job but none of them match Inbox. I've been using this app for a long time and the data grab that I mention has only happened once, I'm just going to have to tap into my data settings and prevent it from happening again on there, which is really annoying.

Absolutely brilliant. It's definitely the best email client that has ever existed, there is quite literally nothing better. After Inbox has gone, It'll be difficult to find another app or service as intuitive and responsive as Inbox. Switching to the Gmail app is a downgrade and doesn't hold a candle to Inbox. This is a backwards step for Google.

This is by far the best email client I have used. It's very intuitive. The way it bundles everything and has amazing visual cues for important information. It makes seeing purchase like movies and tickets for an event very easy and pleasing to see and access. It also shows attachments very well... No more opening up the email as it displays them as a button under the email subject and summary. The list goes on and on with all the benifits inbox has to offer over Gmail. As an avid Google product user it makes me very uneasy to hear that such a superior product to the original Gmail app will be discontinued and I will have to go back to using a product that feels as if it was created In the stone age. I feel that Gmail was a great starting point to email for Google, but they should just trash the original UI and rebrand inbox as the new Gmail. It makes absolutely no sense to trash such progress!!!

Inbox was and still is the best email app I've ever used. It's much better than the Gmail app. Bundles were a life-changing feature and now we're going to lose them. I will always remember Inbox fondly while I look for another email app that can even approach the quality of Inbox. I wish Google would reconsider shutting this down because they simply haven't ported all of the important features to Gmail yet. If they finished doing that, then i could live with it but as it stands I'm disappointed.

Bring back Inbox! 😫 It was the best email experience that has email existed. It managed to succeed at reimagining and modernizing email, when so many others tried and failed. Hands down Google's best product, and they shut it down for no apparent reason. Google says the features were "integrated" into Gmail. Some were, but that really misses the point. What made Inbox great wasn't the features, it was that fact that it didn't really feel like email at all. Gmail misses the mark by a mile.

This has been my go-to app since the beta in 2014. It was a bit challenging to get used to at first, but once I did, it has been great! I love moving through email now, and I am so much more productive. Google's own description of this app includes many of the features I love i so much! Highlights - I love that I can skim my Inbox and decide if something can be deleted right now, get a quick reply, or be snoozed until later. This is awesome for cleaning up personal messages during the day while on breaks at work and making sure I follow-up on any needing a detailed reply when I get home. Bundles - How did I ever live without this feature? Google, your suggestion to use categories and tabs just doesn't offer the same robustness as having Bundles inline with the messages. I don't want to have to click through multiple tabs to see what's new. Inbox's Bundles let me see if I need to bother clicking into the Bundle just based on whose message is New. Reminders - Building on the strengths above, the Reminder feature has become key to my success. Without switching apps, I can add a note about what I need to do before I can mark the message done. Again, without leaving the app,

This is the best email app by far. I've read Google may discontinue .. please NOOOOOOO. I will do everything I can to promote this app if you promise not to discontinue. Spam and phishing attempts never make it through the filters. The algorithms identify exactly what I want to see so I have about 10 emails in the main inbox. If I have bills due or have made an online purchase, the finance folder appears and it is so uncluttered and focused. It is completely easy to interface with and intuitive. It truly is a superior product.

Not bad, but it's tough when you want the same email across devices. Google hasn't made an official Chromebook app for Inbox, so I have to use one made by an independent developer. Also, the "done" feature for emails doesn't delete or archive them; they just disappear from view unless you go looking, which means you end up filling your Gmail storage way faster than expected, which is bad if you receive many emails a day and have no interest in paying for extra storage space in your Gmail server. I recommend just sticking with Gmail.

Inbox is by far the best email app out there. I'm extremely disappointed to hear that it will be discontinued. I have not used Gmail since Inbox came about. I have just tried switching back after I heard the news and it really feels like stepping back ten years into the past. I really hope Google will reconsider and continue to support the best email app out there, Inbox.

This app has been great for the most part, minus a no connection message that does not let me check my email that has appeared intermittently for the past month with only this app, both in and out of the country. Just got back from France and was hard to check my email when I needed to for work at times. Will change review to 5 stars if they fix it, until then it gets uninstalled and 3 stars.

Easily the best Google Mail client there is. Both the Mobile App and the Web based interface are so intuitive and make it simple to remove clutter and get to your important email. It's reached the point where Inbox is the only app I use email and I can't even look at other clients. Especially the original horrid GMail client. Google's decision to shut down Inbox may be the biggest disappointment I have had in a Tech company these past 40 years.

The best e-mail app I've ever used. The clean and non-cluttered UI and the smooth UX is all I ever needed in an e-mail app that I probably check way too much for my own good. It's a really big shame that it's being discontinued because I use Gmail simultaneously for work e-mails and the experience is completely miles apart even with the new UI updates. Inbox definitely deserves a 5-star send-off without a doubt.

WHY would you choose to kill off Inbox? I've been using Inbox since day ONE, and it's hands down, the BEST email app I've EVER used. I tried going back to Gmail, in order to re-familiarize myself with it, and it's absolute garbage. The paid ads in the promos folder are terrible, and the layout is clunky as hell. Inbox has zero ads, email preview images, reminders, excellent prioritization, and a beautiful layout. Hey Google, STOP killing off awesome apps!

THE best email app, hands down. When I was first introduced to Inbox 4 years ago, I found the 'done' feature a bit weird, but quickly got used to seeing a clean empty inbox after swiping all the emails I read. There is NO such feature in Gmail, as well as other quite handy features that Inbox has, such as bundling, automatic trip notifications, pinning, one-click snoozing and other small things that made the app much faster and easier to use than Gmail. Please, Google, don't discontinue this gem. Gmail will never be as efficient as Inbox. Its time had passed. It's too clunky, poorly organised and is generally obsoleted by Inbox. LET INBOX LIVE!

This app is 100x better than its loser sibling. I went back to the GMail app for a hot second. It's even worse than I remember. It has none of the features that make Inbox awesome, and Gmail app now gives me ads mixed in with email when I use any of the available groups (Updates, etc.). The problem is they look like legit email at first glance instead of ads. SAVE INBOX! Edit: over a year later - I MISS U INBOX! 😢

Google, keep this app alive. Gmail is objectively missing its functionality. Inbox is a very good email app. The distinguishing feature is the automatic bundling of incoming emails. The amount of time this saves the user cannot be understated. The main drawbacks are: * Cannot format text when composing * Attachments are always placed in the message body

Inbox is awesome. It saves me lots of time. I love bundles, trips, reminders, info cards. It just works with almost no setup required. It is perfect for getting focus on your important private emails. There is no need for a task list, or calendar, outside of Inbox. It integrates everything that I need for managing and organizing my private live. Gmail is no alternative.

Bra. B. Nov 13, 2018

Overall it's great, occasionally freezes when trying to read or edit messages, causing an "inbox is not responding, close?" message to be displayed. Like others, I've gone back to Gmail to test for a bit, and it just can't compete - please reconsider the decision to terminate this app, or bring inbox features over. I've really come to rely on the inbox features such as trips, pinned items, auto groups such as finance and purchases, and bundling in inbox of custom groups. Gmail functionality still isn't even close when it comes to keeping things tidy 😣

Jon. K. Jan 27, 2019

Amazing, the ability to organize by groups is phenomenal. It shows more infornation in the preview of each email within the app, such as dates, bill amounts, and important information. All of this is missing from the normal Gmail app however the most game changing feature it has is to mark emails as "done" without deleting or archiving them, along with the ability to pin and mass mark emails as "done". Since pinned emails are saved all unnecessary emails become cleared. Phenomenal App.

I switched to this app just so I could create new email labels, which it seems to do, but then they took away my 'starred' items which I used a lot. Also, the labels used to appear on the emails but now you've got to click through a few menus to see them. I guess I'll keep using it, but I'll also have to use the regular gmail app so I can actually see my starred items and labelled emails.

Please do not discontinue inbox support! I got a notification on my PC that inbox will stop in March, and to go back to using Gmail. But I looked at it again and inbox continues to be far superior, in it's organization, layout, and features. Starring articles does not replacing pins, the smart features such as recognizing and laying out bills or trips, and just the overall aesthetic. Gmail continues to look completely cluttered in comparison and archaic. are there any great more of the inbox features and layout system in to Gmail, or I'll be forced to look for a third-party alternative which ideally I do not want to do!
