Ingredian: Scan Food Labels

If a healthy diet is important to you, then take a moment to look at a few food ingredient labels at your local grocery store. You'll find dangerous additives such as monosodium glutamate (MSG), butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT) and even worse! The U.S. Food and Drug Administration claims these are "generally recognized as safe", however independent research suggests otherwise. But what about the safety of other common additives such as propyl gallate or sodium nitrate?

Introducing Ingredian, the food scanner. Ingredian uses your phone's camera to scan ingredient label text for quickly detecting additives and other potentially harmful chemicals lurking in your food. All detected ingredients are sorted in order by category with web links that provide additional information about each one.

Ingredian can also assist in detecting allergens such as eggs, dairy, fish, nuts, soy and wheat. The Ingredian Pro paid version supports an Alpha-gal diet, i.e., red meat allergy diet.

This app scans ingredient label text on the product container. Similar apps scan bar codes, which are frequently out of date or missing entirely from the connected server's database.

You have to check what ingredients you want to be alerted to everytime you scan a new item. I need to know about potassium and phosphorus or phosphates. Thats it. But there arw a lot of different ones under each list. Idont have time to recheck everything each individual time I need to scan a food. Make it so i can save my check list, or multiple checklists for different family members. I really wanted to use this for shopping and cooking for my renal diet.

I realized my mistake, I should have been scanning the ingredients list, not the barcode. thanks for the fast response. this app seams to work great.

I love how I can check for dairy. They have all these diets to choose from. They need one for diabetics, shows what has sugar, high in starch, etc...

Very good app. The paid version is worth it for the extra bell and whistles

Every time I scanned and took a picture no information came up at all

Does not flag ingredients that are selected to alert for. Selected dairy, milk, whey and still did not flag a milk ingredient. One of the ingredients was literally "milk" and it still said it was safe.

Amazing. I'm allergic to onions and this app helps me check food quickly, especially with the small type on packages.

It keeps closing down when in use, I do not like that. Can you all fix it, and no it's not my mobile provider!

This app is extremely useful in situations that you just aren't aware of certain ingredients

This is the best ingredient scanner that I have tried! The list of ingredients that you can choose to scan for is very comprehensive.
