I have used this app for more than two years before I upgraded it and then discovered it does not pair with the Android version 12 OS. I spent more than two weeks trying to get the pen to sync and operate rather than entering my doses manually. If support material would have mentioned that they are working on a solution I could have saved hours.
Has a bug staying connected and logging doses, which is it'sprimaryfunction. I thought it was something I did and spent a lot of time troubleshooting and trying to fix it, only to find out it was a known problem that they didn't notify us about. Then they released and update, which I installed, thinking it was the bug fix: only to find out it was a modification crippling the app: not actually stopping it. W.T.F. It's a medical device app: perhaps I need to contact the FDA? VERY ๐
My life depends on this app, I was told that I had to update and couldn't use the older version. I did that and find that I can't use the newer version. I can't go back and I can't use the app at all to manage my type 1 diabetes. If there's a compatible issue we that depend on this app to stay alive we should have the choice to update instead of being forced to do it and lose our ability to stay alive. This is extremely callus and down right deadly for individuals that rely on this app
Good start on this Diabetic Tool. Needs input and recording physical activities. Android version lacking real time glucose readings. Great for X-pumpers! Update..known issue - Android 12 may not record doses! It works for me only if app is open when dosing. Update...new version 5.5.4.4 seems to have fixed this issue. Had to manually update to this new version as play did not recognize the new version. Still does not have real time readings for Dexcom....sad as Apple does have that feature.
Will not connect to my new phone. I have a Samsung galaxy s21 fe and neither of my inpens will connect to it. One of my inpens is brand new and the other is a couple of months old so there is no reason for either of them to not connect. I love using the inpen but this is real frustrating.
It's a terrific app that records blood glucose, carbs, insulin and even tracks on-board insulin! Can't find another app to do so. But now it's of no use. Because I have a Samsung S21 the app will not function at all; let alone connect with my InPen. Update: Samsung sent out an update. InPen app is now working great. Thanks for getting this done!
I loved this app and this pen. It was a game changer for those who preferred and relied on MDD over pump therapy. However, after the first year, second pen had quality issues that required a new one, and now the past 3+ months I've had connectivity issues and now the app forced an update and now won't work with my phone. They also forced this update just days before Christmas. Classic poor quality since Medtronic purchased the InPen and ruined another diabetic device.
Medtronic ruins everything. App is glitchy since they took over. And why do they need our location? Companion Review: This app, product are wonderful for managing type 1 diabetes w/multiple daily injections. Calculates insulin doses for me, keeps record of all doses. Keeps track of Active Insulin. If blood sugar is BELOW target it suggests the number of carbs to eat to bring it back into target - SUPER helpful. The InPen is great after being on an insulin pump for yrs, much more ECONOMICAL.
No access to use app! I had already been dealing with having to manually input the dose as it wasn't synching (no big deal) but now a new app update came through yesterday and now it won't even let me go into the app and use it to see how much insulin I should take (so I don't over/under do it)... this is ridiculous! It's causing more harm than good having done this, and I can't downgrade the update. I'm beyond frustrated
Can someone tell me how I can use my inpen since the app is all of a sudden not compatible with Samsung 12. I'm really upset over not being told this would be a issue. I've used an inpen for 2 years and no issues till the app upgrade
Overall a very good app for type 1 patients just. Some things that need to be fixed are updating the app so it's compatible for the new update in Androids, I also wish it would stop deleting logs. These problems started about five weeks ago and hasn't gone away. It needs to fixed soon or many inpen users will be upset.
I'm a diabetes type 1 patient and I've been using the Inpen for less than a year and it's been a life changing for me. But recently about 4 weeks ago the app stopped working completely saying Android Combatiblty Error. I've tried to call the number shown in the message but haven't gotten any response. So I'm writing you down to see to it and let me know what should I do?. Hope to get a response ASAP. thank you and best regards.
I'd give it 0 stars if I could. The pen is fine but the app wasn't syncing with the pen. Instead of fixing it or disabling the Bluetooth portion they stopped all access to the app. I had all of my settings stored in there and I can't access it. I'm 25 weeks pregnant with type 1 diabetes and I have no idea what doses I need because of their incompetent programmers and thoughtless company.
I really don't know what the issue is with the app its been acting crazy for a few weeks now. I have to manually enter my insulin dose & now it's saying my Samsung S21 isn't compatible. I am T1 diabetic & kind of need these calculations so I don't go overboard with insulin. Now I have to manually calculate & try to keep up with the insulin I've given myself. This is not ok & I pray y'all are working around the clock to fix this....diabetics depend on this.
I love the InPen, as it let's me remain MDI but with some features that pump wearers have. The only thing I don't like about the app is that if it's running in the background it doesn't log my dosages. It only logs them if the app is open.
Amazing app that really helps with diabetes management. The only issue is that since the upgrade, the app no longer reminds me to use long acting insulin at the time listed in therapy settings. Instead, I get the reminder at random times. Otherwise, this app is genius. In response to the comment, the time is correct in the therapy settings. EDIT: Upgrading to five stars because the company personally reached out to me to resolve the issue! Excellent customer service and love the Inpen.
As of last update, forces me to turn on location. I never wanted that. The Play Store just said "performance improvements and bug fixes".
Why does this app suddenly need location access ALL OF THE TIME in order to work properly? This is ridiculous and invasive. How is this helpful to the Type-1 Diabetics that use your product? (Edit: updated review based on excellent feedback from developer.)
InPen reached out to me and listened to my experience. They now have fixed the issues that I was having and the app behave as I would expect, providing me with the info I need.
As I've been a Type-1 Diabetic since I was 12 years old, I use this app to let me know how much Insulin that I should take with each meal that I eat (including how much Insulin that I should be taking for higher blood sugars) so I appreciate that part of this app.
I would rate this -5 stars if I could. This new version is unusable and fixes none of the problems they had with the old version. The new display format is useless and I could find no way to enter BG values from my CGM. Still doesn't have enough time slots in settings. They never did fix the problem with Bluetooth missing doses. I recommend using Diabetes:M instead of this app.
It's great at helping manage insulin and remembering to take it. I wish Android was updated to lessen my worries.
Great resource but it doesn't stay connected so I have to manually enter my doses most of the time - then it randomly connects every 3-4 days & duplicates all the doses so I have to go back & delete the manually entered ones so there's an accurate record
They pushed an update that makes it so that you cannot use an app that you rely upon. Would give a 0 and am looking to switch pens as soon as I can.
The app has stopped working as it does not pair with Android OS 12 . I am very upset as this pen was such a positive game changer for me. When will this issue be resolved?! It has been weeks.
I have tried all the gizmos, libre, dexcom, pump. This is the most accurate and easy way to manage my diabetes. Finger sticks are not that bad for me...
No longer works after the last update. This is dangerous for us diabetics. We can no longer monitor active insulin in our systems. Please fix asap.
After update my app isn't working properly anymore!! Super frustrating.bullcrap.i depend on this to work!!!
Excellent app, the insulin calculator is the reason I got the inpen. I must enter my doses manually (bluetooth ON on my phone interferes with catching wifi), and the phone isn't compatible with dexcom to manually feed my BGs into the app. That severely limits the ease of the app, but dose calculator is king. My real complaint is with the update, both the HOME and LOGBOOK tabs look very similar now. I preferred the half-circle home screen which showed IOB prominently. Please make it more prominen
Upgraded my Android phone to a Samsung S21 and the pen no longer connect to my phone. So I've been logging my insulin doses manually. Opened the app 2 minutes ago to take my last dose and was instructed to upgrade the app. Hoping this would solve the connection issue. Unfortunately it just states there is a bug in the app with Android 12 (which I am aware of). Now the app just kicks me out with no option to calculate or log doses. Wish they had left it alone until the bug was fixed!
