Inshorts requires the following permissions. Your privacy is critical for us and the app never uses photos, videos and other media files, make calls, send messages or save and/or distribute device information. Contacts: To access your contacts for the sharing feature TOSS, through which you can share shorts with your friends. Photos/Media Files: The app needs access to the device's storage to save the representational images, so that you have a good experience even without internet connectivity. This is also needed to send the image along with the text when you share a short. Call/SMS: To verify your contact number for TOSS. Device Information: The app needs the Device ID to identify and solve technical issues.

They didn't ask me to rate, I did it myself. Fantastic app, tells you what you need to about anything and it takes one swipe if you wanna read the entire article, ads aren't that intrusive, interface is good. Good job, team at inshorts!
Poor experience and news have clear left wing bias! App allows pop ups! The detail report reading feature with a swipe is just a glorified browser sans any security feature which allows random pop ups and ads to come up comprising the security of your phone. Better fix the profound lack of security on the app or just add a link to open in regular browser like Chrome, how hard is that? On top of that news stories are plainly one sided and trys to glorifies left-facing views and far from truth.
The application is time saving for me, Only problem I ever faced is the images provided with the news article, they are of not high quality so.... Sometimes if i wanna see the images then low resolution creates a problem. I hope developers will give a option to set the quality of images provided with articles.
My relationship with Inshorts started at the time when I used to struggle to make myself enough time to read through the pages of newspaper. It's not that I do not like to read paper but the long working hours make it difficult to catch the newspaper especially on weekdays.True that TOI and other such apps were available earlier but I was never driven to install them and though it might sound funny but it was actually the friendly image of the Inshorts app which drew me towards it.
I am rating this low... because one issue which I had reported long time back still not resolved. Pls fix these issues.. 1. When I bookmark any news that bookmark should persist. Means it should remain as blue whenever I open this app. 2. Photos does not show up many times. 3. Only unread news should be visible. Many times this algorithm is messed up.
In previous version, I use to get all categories just by swiping right. For my interest in technology and startups I just had to select that category and directly jump into that topic but now, to do same thing I have to go through additional steps that is frustrating sometime. Can we get that feature back? Also I couldn't get all unread articles in each category, which was available in previous versions.
Unfortunately, no matter how many times I've come back to this app, even though it provides a really convenient portal to the current affairs, the content being served is mostly off-putting or controversial stories with a few real news worthy ones peppered here and there. Uninstalling again.
The experience is superb but there is always a problem with pictures above the headlines The pictures are not at good quality and because of this if any picture is there which is readable like list of top areas with_______ we can't see them clearly Kindly solve this problem and this is the most suitable app i have ever run
It is really distrubing to me that the news coverage on this app is rather one sided and biased. I urge your team to try to be centrist or atleast represent both left and right wing sources. Your headlines are extremely suggestive and often end up misrepresenting the facts of the situation. Please don't lose the trust your readers place in your app.
It's a great app. Gives all the news timely. Just one suggestion being a psychologist. Please filter the news which can be triggering for some people like "Man and woman jumped off the floor. " There is no option to change how not to get such news notification. It can be triggering for some people. Also lot of times people are just not in that mind set to read these disturbing news notification. Hope u will look into this. Otherwise i love this app.
Very good app, keeps the article short and sweet which is their USP. I love the way the UI is simple and timely updates on special events or stories. Could use a read aloud feature. Otherwise thumbs up.
This app is amazing! It gives daily news in just a small paragraph. It keeps on adding news throughout the day! It's amazing and so much more better than reading a news paper! KEEP IT UP! 😁👏👏😍
Its a really good app and i really like it. Recently i came across a bug in your app(could ve device specific) App crashes on tapping "back to my feed" button after completing the highlights section
Overall news content is good and easy to use but the way advertisement are being displayed in same pattern or context of news is highly misleading. That especially needs to be changed to maintain the integrity of app usage.
Why this app gives separate notifications for all the news and NOT GROUPING THE NOTIFICATIONS IN NOTIFICATION PANEL!? This app does what it says but too many separate notifications in the notification panel took all the space and make it messy! I'm facing this issue on Pixel 6 Pro running Android 12L. Hope developers will give option for group notification as all the other apps like GMail,Reddit etc are providing! . . Edit: I've already shared the feedback through mail!
This app has been a depressing one which continuously keeps on giving sad and terror news. The editors and writers are too horific which makes these shorts news too much scary to continue ahead. As I scroll down it gives me fear that the next news is going to be definitely a horrifying terrorful and sad news. Uninstalled it. Looking for alternative.
The app is great but my sincere request is to make the background of the notifications transparent with bold white text. Currently it looks soo ugly with solid black/white background. Please consider this request. This is the only app in my notification list that looks ugly and doesn't blend with other notifications at all !!
Uninstalling this app. Trivia is in, important news is out. Full of only Cricket and Bollywood trivia. There is no scope for changing the preferences while using the app. A typical techie response. Make your interface easy to work with. Too little, too late. I am out.
It is very helpful for the working people who don't have time to read newspaper or carry newspaper everywhere is also not possible . But we are definitely gonna keep our phone everywhere even in washroom also .So, you can read as per your convenience it's superb . While we are traveling we can read , laying on bed . It's very good specially for students we don't need to study a lot for getting the news .
The app much appreciable the interface, smoothness, ad experience all are impressive . I just have a suggestion tha please add features of selecting text so that I can for meaning of words I don't know.....Other than hat's off
This app is very useful for me . Suggestions : Can you add a feature like when someone select a word in news article there should be an option of dictionary to understand the article in a better way.
The way of giving short news with interface is too good. Just one problem that we can't search words and web search like google apps in this , if it will happen then if will be the top news app!
From the past 6 months, the app is crashing a lot for me, and recently it literally crashed my android. My phone froze and I had to force it to restart.
The relevancy feature is useless in the app. When i select "No News" for a particular topic, i still see news in that and this leads to an overwhelming number of useless shorts i have no interest to read.
News in short is really good for over viewing daily news around the world without much time consuming. We get updated with details of the news too easily if we want. It's a good app.
Was a great app before but now the way they show video ads have added lot of bugs. even after scrolling to the next news, video ad still plays in background and sometimes it plays even after quitung the app
The app does what it says and is relatively easy to use, however the format in which they display the ads is highly misleading. I understand that you need ads to generate revenue, however including them in the same format as the rest of the news can lead one to think it is actually news. The only differentiation between an actual article and an ad is the very little and grey "powered by xyz" notation at the bottom of the article. This is very easy to miss and is done by deliberate design.
