App has been terrible since the last update. I'm not getting batch notifications, it crashes and freezes all the time. Failed to notify a military customer that I has arrived at the meeting point so I was left waiting for over half an hour. Trying to connect to an actual person for help is a joke. I went from making $1000/week to around $500. I've done nothing different. I'm rated 5 stars, my shopping time is good, I have many customer compliments, there's no other reason for the loss of batches
Ever since the new update this week, my app keeps freezing or just crashes. Especially when I try to check my ratings. I can't even see them once I click on it the app just crashes and closes and I have to reopen it. Also during batches or deliveries the app freezes and I have to restart it and go back to the steps I've completed already. Needs some work done. Batches, pay, and security is getting better though.
Edit after update: still 1 star. Can't do anything because there aren't any positions in my previous town and it won't let me update the address to where I'm at now. Just the screen letting me know there's no jobs. Original: Trying to join. There weren't any full shopper positions in my current area, but I travel and there's no option to change my location. So this app is useless. Great idea, poor execution.
Definitely helpful for a side hustle.. after this last update however the app has been hanging, freezing, becoming unresponsive to touch, delays in switching betnavigation, and a host of other issues. For My "bread and butter 'job, I 'm required to use my phone regularly and these issues have begun to interfere with my work. I don't want to but may have to Uninstall if it continues
I have to on numerous times have to uninstall and reinstall app. I'm at a 4.98 in ratings and get very few orders, not even getting priority orders. I have to continually contact support because of the issues I'm having and been told numerous times it would be looked into. However, I'm still waiting. Getting very frustrating no matter what I do troubleshooting wise.
Great app and easy to use, especially when shopping. Only issue is that when theres an opportunity to add an order to the batch, the notification bell goes off and doesnt stop until I restart my phone. Also, if you have 2 separate orders at one store and both have a lot of items, that should be 2 batches. Been times that I had to get two carts at the store and barely got everything to fit in my car (standard sedan).. And might have made $20 after all that and customers were 15min apart.
I see a lot of complaints about the app freezing. I agree it is annoying, but it usually only happens once in a batch. I can deal with that. What frustrates me is the batch pay and lack of required tip. I've been doing this for about a month now. I see lots of batches with no tip. I don't take them. When I first started I did lots of orders, some $200 with a $2 tip. They should do their own shopping. I hope that instacart recognizes that we shouldn't be making under min wage. Require a gratuity
The app freezes too often for me. I usually have to restart my telephone to get it unfrozen. This is not ideal when shopping. Also, the Help to speak to a rep should be a little less hidden. Lastly, the option to go back when you hit Hand Bags to customer does not exist. Then you leave the package and can not take a photo.
Everytime I do an order the app freezes atleast once. Then the app freezes alot all of a sudden it goes from no nearby orders to 5 or 10 orders popping up. Then when you drive away from the store orders will pop up. Always and I mean Always freezes when taking pictures of receipts. Don't get me wrong I appreciate Instacart tons. But at the same time the app makes my job alot harder
Always having app issues from freezing to them wanting to send me 60 miles for a delivery when another store in the chain is right down the road from the customer. Plus they can't fix things in a timely manner. Every time I go to put receipts in, the app freezes now, and you have to re-enter everything, so they broke something that worked just fine.
Not a good side gig. The batch pay with tips included is often below minimum wage per hour, and not many higher paying orders pop up. Sometimes I sit for like an hour just to get an order above $10 so its worth my time. If you are desperate sure but this app just wants to take advantage of low income people who are desperate for any money. (Not to mention tip baiting, messed up GPS, and how annoying taxes are).
Freezes up all the time and have to close and re-open. If you accidently click something you cannot go back which is incredibly frustrating. Then you get vague feedback from anonymous customers. Andnbad ratings result in less jobs available to you. Annoying that there's no way to remedy issues for people if there's a mixup somehow. Once the order is delivered you cannot communicate with the customer or go back to verify in any way that it all went smoothly.
Literally every time they do an update for Android, it gets worse. Even when I have a good 5G signal in a store, the app will crash and close out. Sometimes, to the point where I have to restart my phone. Then it won't scan items or communicate with the customer. Lately, everytime I do a batch, I look the next day and the number of ratings actually goes down.
App constantly freezing when I take pictures or go to click on something. I have to keep rebooting my phone and it is quite annoying. And the app is starting to freeze more and more and it's not good when you're trying to pay and can't move forward. From other comments, this is an issue you guys need to fix ASAP.
I have the app on two and three and even four hours sometimes and not a single order comes through. Yet I go to the store to do my own shopping and I see full service shoppers. I wonder why I'm seeing little to no batches. On the other hand a recent email sent by them states they have fixed the rating system and shoppers won't be limited to batches they see if your rating is average to good. If so that's huge and we've complained on the rating system for years.
App crashes like 3 times daily or freezes :(. Good thing is, it doesn't crash or freeze when looking up for orders :). It happens when shopping often times when I am scanning a selected item or trying to send a picture to a customer. I would like to suggest that you enable dark theme in future updates. Dark theme saves battery life.
Instacart has its issues just like any other business but I'm certainly thankful that they're around. With a little work and discipline a person can make some legitimate money on the side. Thank you instacart you guys are awesome. Update: it seems like everytime the app has a new update it gets worse, more crashes, more glitches and more need to restart the app while I'm shopping a batch. This app needs a great deal of fine tuning and it'll be great again but for now it barely deserves 2 stars.
Update: The issue is fixed now. I can do deliveries now. Thank you! I applied for instacart shopper for almost 6 months ago, I recently got approved. I tried to activate it, and when I reached the section to put the address to receive the Instacart card, it says invalid address, I even tried my friends addresses, none worked. I can't contact anyone, it doesn't give me chat options either. I tried on the website, it asked me to go to the app. Not a good experience.
Most the time it's a good app, but it is absolutely so irritating that when a customer messages you it pops up about 4 or 5 times even after you've read the message. It also crashes frequently when scanning items. I would be so much quicker without these issues.
Great idea. Great concept. Terrible execution. This app is frustration incarnate. My batches can spontaneously disappear almost immediately after I accept them; thanks to a bug, I sometimes have to scan items 3 or 4 times; the app's checkout process is so laggy, it'll make you want to use your personal credit card; when I win the checkout war, I often struggle to get in touch with the customer for delivery. At that point, all I can do is knock and hope they get their stuff instead of guarantee.
App doesn't work right quite a bit and makes it difficult to scan items. End up having to manually input a lot of items, which takes extra time. This has gone on with the last 3 or 4 updates, at least. It's a great part time job. They prioritize new shoppers, so after a while it's difficult for experienced shoppers to get batches. I love doing it, when I can get shops. I had to start working a regular job again, after I was no longer new.
I love being an Instacart shopper but the app makes it difficult. It doesnt always scan? It some time freezes and has connectivity issues. I really hope they can work out the issues. Update: I got a bigger stronger, faster phone and don't have anymore issues. Further Update 4/11/22 the app still freezes at the most inopportune times. The only way to fix it is to exit and restart the app.
Ultimately, a great job. All though every time they update the app, it seems to mess something up for days. For example, I lost 100's of dollars in 7 days that I couldn't mark an order delivered, then all of a sudden one day I could. Now they are not showing when the batch is heavy, or including the heavy pay, I've had to contact support to get the money owed to me. BUT for the most part support is very helpful and usually pretty quick! If your looking for extra income def give it a try
Edit 3/12/22: The app was busted, it wouldn't let me take a picture of my ID & it was stuck in that phase so I couldn't do anything else. I called support and was told it'll be sent to the technical team. I also needed to change my last name, but was told they couldn't do that until I was "hired". After leaving my previous review, they fixed the issue with my app and they fixed my last name without me contacting them again, so obviously someone did their job when the previous agent wouldn't.
I agree with the others on the can't find item, we shouldn't have to take a picture, most of the time Market Basket will fill the empty spot with something else, it's just useless. The changes to the app are getting worse. Update it for the better if you're going ro update it at all. Just updated the newest version of the app, and it now freezes on the keep the receipt screen. I am having to restart my phone everytime I get to that point. Wasnt having a problem before the update
I had 2 orders today. After checking out, the app freezes up. I cannot mark the order as done so that I can show that I am on my way to deliver. It stays stuck on checkout. So I just go ahead and deliver. Tried several times to get help from support and it took forever! Both orders were delivered 10-15 ahead of time. But on my last order I was marked as not delivered on time. When I finally got in contact with an agent to help me mark "complete" it was probably 30 min later. This needs fixing!
The app does not coordinate with all grocery stores to make it easier for us to find products. I haveany times gone from one side to the other of the store just to find products that the app says is in one area but is actually in another. I have also had issues with the app freezing and not letting me move forward. It's frustrating when shopping and trying to make $$ and you can't
This is a great opportunity to make some money, but the only thing I can't stand is that you have to wait for the tips to clear in 24 hours. Plus the total shown includes the tip which can change in that 24 hours, the amounts have changed to be really small showing the batch base + the tips. The promos are for batches instead of individual orders which makes it a bit more difficult to reach the goal. Need to change the wait time for tips and make base pay higher to make it worth the gas used.
Horrible. Had to contact support many times today bc the app wouldn't let me start, check out, or deliver a batch. App freezes often in the middle of deliveries and you have to re-enter receipt info, VERY annoying bc it closes out navigation until you do. Support is not user friendly, you have to go to one menu, click an icon, go through multiple steps with an unhelpful virtual assistant, then finally you can chat. You can't minimize the chat, if you leave the page you have to start all over.
The app works good, the idea is good. There is alot of batches that are 50+ items plus delivery and want to pay you less than $15. Unless there is a promo, rarely worth it. Many customers will offer a high tip and you accept it with heavy and bulky items in the order and follow all directions and then retract the tip immediately after you deliver and they don't have to have a valid reason... A lot of falsely reported missing items. 👎
