Instinct - Cellular automata

The purpose of Instinct is the definition and simulation of cellular automata. For this end, entities are used which live in a 2D universe. They evolve through discrete time according to rules.Game of Life (by John Conway) is by far the most popular cellular automaton of its kind. This is but one of the almost infinite possible structures that can be defined in Instinct. To get started, the application offers a collection of tutorials with simple yet fascinating results. It will make you familiar with the concepts of cellular automata, and will give you a basic skillset for making your own simulations. The automata that are covered in the tutuorals include:
- Game of Life
- Other Life-like automata
- WireWorld
- Cyclic cellular automata
- Greenberg-Hastings automata
- Multi-state Life-like automata (Brian's Brain)

Loved this. Extremely useful as an all in one for implementing some cool cellular automatas. However, something should be done about the lag spikes. Perhaps a slightly altered format of remembering rules. Also, needs a percentile probability function for rule sets so i can create something like the Forest Fire. Otherwise, nearly perfect. A little clunky with drawing, but great functionality.

Absolutely fantastic... No complaints. Very powerful. Suggestion: preloaded rulesets and structures would be nice :-)

Cell expiration is cool, any way to do that in Golly? Also please add an export option for Golly rules files (translating by hand is tedious). And I'd love a cross-platform desktop application! Edit: I know it's been a while since an update, but I'd love for this to be open-source! Right now I just want to be able to define behavior for things speficially on the right side for example. This could be done with a dropdown toggling all rotations or specific sides.

This is more intuitive than the CA programs you can get for desktops. Options for color and time-based expiration for cells are neat. I wish you could have more options in the rules part, but this is still the best I've found with the most options.

The tutorials seem broken... Every step lacks the essential information

This is a very fun game. Only one problem: I can't make doors. What I want is a program that will make a door, have a creature exit, go to another building, and have the creature's tail become a door. Than have the door, about ten steps later, become another creature.

Really good app with a usable interface, but it's sometimes annoying that there isn't any way to reorder rules or entity types. (At least not that I've found.)

Tutorials are completely broken. Extremely hard to get into.

Golly is by far the most popular software for cellular automata on desktops, so is there any chance that in the future there might be a tool for converting rules on the app to .rule files that Golly can read? That would be incredible. Otherwise, this app is fantastic!

Good and has potential to be expanded! I hope there will be hexagonal/triangular grid in the future.

So nice to have such a simple interface to simulate your own CA

The moment I saw this... I fell in love with this app!

Best cellular automata simulation I've ever seen

Ah, Game of life remade.

Bad grammar, bad tutorials, buggy, slow, confusing... clickbait.

Very interesting!

I couldn't get past the tutorial. The instructions had me tap a button, I tapped the button, then to hit the play button and watch the animation I made happen. But it didn't happen. If you want me to complete a specific series of tasks, actually say what I'm supposed to do

Cant even play the simulation.
