2/08/20 Learning Intervals? Perfect. 3/24/21 When I started I was basically tone deaf. I would focus on two intervals at a time and try to tell the difference for hours with no progress. Literally thousands of trials. Sence then I have leared to hear all intervals within an octave, ascending and descending with above 94% success rate. Sometimes I think the app could be more random in selecting the interval, but it works well, and my improvement speaks for the effectiveness.
The is decent but has a few annoying issues. First of all, the sound effects are just god awful, seriously. Not only are the sound effects very unrealistic, there's a distortion when chords are played. Kinda weird set up and difficult to configure compared to other similar apps. Other than that its not that repugnant.
While many apps offer interval ear training, this one has an incredibly important asset in the Continuous Play mode which has allowed me to practice while driving without the need to click on anything. It's been truly a game changer. I would appreciate some tips on how to think about intervals and strategies to distinguish them (esp harmonic) other than repetition but it's beyond the scope of the app. There also many settings I dont get so possibly the app is even better than I understand ;)
Honestly by far the best free app for ear training. Has song references for all intervals, can choose out of all major scale modes, harmonic minor, melodic minor, Egyptian scales and what not. Has the phrase recognition option which is just game changing. Possibly the best app I've ever found lol Must have for someone who's doing ear training. The only addition they could have is context learning, where a chord or a progression is played and an interval in relation to that
The only interval trainer that I have found the actually works, before I was just guessing (years of going in the exam room and just saying major third), but now I have intervals mostly in my grasp, it is the melody's that play when you get it wrong, that really helps you create an emotional connection to each interval that allows me to recognise them. And I haven't even got to the other excersises. The amount customisation and features this app has is unbelievable. I've donated.
This has to be the ear training app available!! I have been struggling with one the intervals for a week now, but with continuous play and ability to select a preferred choice of melody for association has helped me to master it in a day. Really appreciate your work.
The holy grail of interval training. Seriously, to be able to use wave synths to train your ears is like the best thing ever and this app nailed it. Would have preferred natural sine waves instead of square waves but I guess midi has its limits too. Wouldn't mind seeing that option in a future update, though.
This is a great, no-frills app for ear training. Using it has unbelievably improved my intonation on the violin, especially for intervals larger than a second, since I can now hear the difference between correct and almost correct. Thank you for making and sharing this app with us.
Think of music as a foreign language, you need to know a little of Music Theory vocabulary or almost every musical pitch tutorial will be like you were kidnapped and woke up in a bar in southern Italy and didn't know any Italian and you have no ID or money. Google and learn a little (a lot would be better) Music Theory terms.
I always thought I'd find it easy to get an ear training app that worked for me. I was wrong. Until I found Interval Recognition. I've made a lot more progress with this app than any other. These things are always personal, but personally, this app works for me.
Excellent app for music ear training, lots of features for a free app. Unfortunately they recently add a permanent add banner that is quite distracting. It would be a 5 star app if not for that.
i love the app its great and useful and free ao thank you! only thing i am really hoping u will add is to the layout and fonts for intervals names: 2m 2M 3m 3M 4P 4aug(triton) maybe just adding the Triton too, idk.. 5P 5dim(also triton) etcetc its a small thing but a huge difference in my experience. please consider it, other than that, thanks again for the app ♥️
Perfect for what I need. Very straightforward and no bugs. It's worked perfectly from day 1.
Unbelievably useful for ear training! all the necessary stuff, none of the unnecessary / complicated/ convoluted stuff!
Extraordinary app! It offers a wide range of possibilities and presents the exercises in an intelligent, fun and effective way.
Comprehensive and simple to use. Exactly what I was looking for to practice while commuting.
I'm not able to choose my intervals. Other than that the app is pretty average.
Loved it This is a great app for jazz musicians which keeps on getting better!
Great way to gain a new skill. This app truly offers everything. I am amazed...
This is an awesome app those reference melodies helped me alot, it is amazing!
best free app with all the feautures of the bigger paid ear training apps, thanks!
Simple and effective. Best app for ear training
Godsent for ear training on the commute with the continuous mode.
Extremely helpful learning to recognize intervals!
Wonderful application design from a functional /use case perspective.
This is by far the best interval app, thank you very much.
Great app! Lots of customisation, really helping me out.
Fun way to train your ear.
This is the interval recognition app you have been looking for.
This app is slightly harder to use than the other best apps but it has a much more flexible melody recognition trainer. It is light years ahead of the other apps for creating custom exercises for yourself. There's no parameter that isn't tweakable. Intervals, scales, octaves, timing, etc etc. It also has an almost unlimited number of different instruments available for exercises. Something all the other apps are sorely lacking. This is a winner
