IpSensorMan

IpSensorMan Manages talking to various sporting sensors using ANT+™ or Bluetooth or Bluetooth Low Energy interfaces. Using a separate app allows multiple client apps to access to the sensors simultaneously. Most of the hard work for talking to the various standard sensors is provided by the app simplifying the client apps. Simplified information is broadcast to any registered application that wants access to the sensor data.
This product is ANT+ certified and complies with the following specified ANT+ device profiles:

Bicycle speed dataBicycle cadence dataBicycle combined speed and cadence dataBicycle power dataHeart rate data

Beta support for the following profiles. Not gone though certification yet.Stride Based Speed and Distance (footpod)Environment (Garmin Tempe)

Polar Wearlink®+ transmitter with Bluetooth® and Zephyr HxM BlueTooth Heart rate monitor support added with 1.2.6

Bluetooth Low Energy / Bluetooth Smart support is currently in beta please see http://www.iforpowell.com/cms/index.php?page=btle-beta for details and to sign up.

IpSensorMan should recognize other ANT+ sensor types although full decoding support is not currently implemented.

Currently the applications using IpSensorMan are:

IpBike an ANT+ sensor based bike computer. https://market.android.com/details?id=com.iforpowell.android.ipbike

IpPeloton an app to show details from other ANT+ heart rate monitors and power sensors. So you can easily compare your effort with your riding companions effort. https://market.android.com/details?id=com.iforpowell.android.ippeloton

IpWatts an application to log the data from multiple power sensors simultaniously with a single timebase. Also logs a single Speed, Cadence and Heart rate source. The app you need if you want to compare Power meters.https://market.android.com/details?id=com.iforpowell.android.ipwatts

IpSmartHr an app to display your heart rate on Sony's SmartWatch.https://market.android.com/details?id=com.iforpowell.android.ipsmarthr

Other applications may well be added.

If you are a developer and want to use this interface then please feel free to email me.

Permission reasons.

Network communications
- full Internet access. The crash reporting system want this. Also I collect usage stats via flurry.com. I am really interested what phones it is installed on and what ANT+ sensors it is used with. You can switch this off from the options.

Hardware controls
- ANT radio access. I won't be able to do much without this one.

System tools
- modify global system settings, prevent phone from sleeping. There is an option to keep ANT active when the phone is in airplane mode which us useful for saving power, this needs to modify the system settings. You still need to do the airplane mode entry yourself. This feature needs at least version 2.6 of ANT Radio Services. If we are actively monitoring the ant radio the phone will not sleep, the screen may still go off though.

Bluetooth
- in order to support the Bluetooth Heart rate monitors.

I would love to know if there is a way to record data faster than 1Hz.

It works pretty well set up was easy but it picks up other sensors when you first start or stop and restart your ride hope there is fix for this

Just started using Ipbike, getting slowly to grips with it, but having problem with it / Ipsensorman. Keep getting this error: unfortunately com.iforpowell.android.ipantman has stopped. It then looks like Ipsensorman isn't installed. If I re install it, I can get it to work perfectly. I've got a Galaxy Note 4.

when searching, would like "search" to try to cycle thru all my configured sensors only. And, would also like it to disregard other Ant+ sensors near by, like what happens at start of a group ride, unless I've for some reason asked it to do so.

Very good and useful, but on Nokia 8 sometimes when heart rate goes low, below 72, sensorman stops reading heart rate, keep getting message "in airplane mode" and the only way to recover is to reset the phone. Would be glad to help out. I have seen this issue 2 to 3 times so far. Is this issue hardware related? How to proceed further?

Have an LG G2. Everything worked great except when pedaling, the speedometer would show half the speed of the actual speed. It would go back to normal I'd I stopped pedaling. All else seems to be accurate. Hoping software update will fix this.

App mistakenly recognizes the very ubiquitous Panobike Bluetooth Speed and Cadence sensor as a Panobike HEART RATE sensor. There is no heart rate sensor anywhere.

It is pretty unfair & rude; & bordering on invasion of privacy, by not making it an easy choice to download, keep, or delete, like all other apps on the market. Not kool android. Same as above.

Bought a BBB bike cadence sensor, and it just works on ipsensorman, while some nifty Garmin refuses to see the BBB (and does see the Garmin cadence sensors).

This app provides other apps access to ANT+ sensors. I can use my existing ANT sensors with an OTG USB cable and a Garmin USB dongle.

Really clever program. At the moment though, it's a really really quick battery drainer on my Z3. Can also loose connection with sensors if "trip paused" the "resumed" requiring me to reopen ipsensorman and research for the sensors

I'm not quite sure what this app made for, despite connect to ant+ sensor, i was thinking it can allow me connect my sensor to multiple apps, but it didn't, everytime I start ant service, it never works in the background so it can provide services for multiple apps

It lose connection with my Giant Ridesense after 20 minutes! Uninstalling this app after this review!!!

Works great, I'm using this driver between IPBike, and Garmin speed and cadence sensors, on a Galaxy S7 edge.

...but still a lot better than ant's own offering. The ability to force connections is particularly handy.

A great tool with ipbike. Way ahead of the mainstream.

I've been using ip bike for awhile. I just switch to a new phone and ip sensor man is using 24% of my battery. It's running time is constant. Is there a way to make it only operate when ip bike is running?

Tad. S. May 6, 2015

It cannot detect the garmin sensors.
