'Set & forget'? It keeps disconnecting regardless of which options you choose. Something has drastically changed in the last month or so. The once reliable service is about as reliable a broken watch. I've known it stay connected for 30+ hours at a time before the aforementioned time, now you're lucky to get 3 hours and it seems to be getting worse. I'm gonna vote with my wallet; I suggest you do the same - UNINSTALLED.
I'm having the same problem as everyone else. It will not connect! This VPN works fine on my firestick, but not on my Android phone. I've tried everything I can think of. I uninstall the app and reinstall it; I've cleared the cache, and I clear data. I tried different protocols and settings; nothing seems to work. It looks like I'm going back to Nordvpn. I'm not sure if the problem my fault or ipvanish is fault. But I did get it working so I'll get four stars for now.
Like many others I've used ipvanish for years and the latest update (worse UIX) the app fails to connect constantly. Sits and spins on the main screen and in the connection screen gives a generic error so you have no idea what's going on. Let me get ahead of the boiler plate responses. I should not have to clear my app cache I should not have to reset my settings I should not have to uninstall and reinstall just to get it to connect. Also, my account is in good standing so that is not an issue
As of 5/14/22 it still is refusing to open up on my tablet. Not a one comment about assisstance or how to fix it. What the heck is going on with this new update. Keeps getting an error message even when I ask it to select. Yes I cleared cache and data logged out then back in. I have tried this over multiple days. I will be requesting a refund and go with a service that actually works. Leave things alone when they are working well. The map can go just go back to the old version.
Was working at 100% did what it was supposed to do with out any problems. Then a update happened and I haven't been able to connect for 6 months now and I'm paying for service that doesn't work and that goes for my firestick 4k and computer. Stopped working on all devices I would like my money back or a extension on my membership
Slow. Got the above reply. The views of the app bear no resemblance to any i have got on my devices. The only one I have a problem with is my Android box. Which is the only one updated. That tells the story. Been waiting now for 30 minutes for a connection. My internet is fast. Your app isn't.
Updating a previously negative review, it was *entirely* user error that caused my issues with the app. I'm sorry for the undeserved 2* rating, I'm the one deserving of that not your team of developers. Fantastic app, both on PC and on mobile. Incredibly easy to use, intuitive, and functional.
Been a customer for years but i am considering moving to NORD. Since the last update all we get is a rubbish animation and error messages. No amount of troubleshooting makes it work.. Time for a switch i think. Dont bother folks. It doesnt work anymore. It is less reliable than free VPNs.
Update: Back to 5 stars. If you can't connect you have to clear the cache and data. I'm connecting like I used to after I did that. Wow this app used to work flawlessly before the update. Now I can't even connect. I cleared the cache and even unistalled and reinstalled the app.
No longer connected on Android after latest update. PC connection was fine. Restarted the phone, but did not fix. Uninstalled app and reinstalled it. Now everything is back to normal. I've never had a real issue with the app in the years I've used it until after the latest update. All in all the app is good and dependable.
GUI ruined + latest update connects you blindly to a sever, you have no idea where it is (can only confirm with whois ip). Used to connect to my chosen city server very fast. It takes ages. City search feature is not working anymore (searched for London and after more than 2 minutes it had not come up with a hit) Devs say they have not touched the code of the core of the app. Well, it seems they have inadvertently touched something, time for them to accept it & do something about it!
Broken app and Locked out of PAID ACCOUNT. My subscription doesn't run out till the 3rd OF MAY but it states to pay $77 for a renewel now! Actual theft never use ip vanish it was passible for 3 years but the last 2 its became terrible. Loads of reviews of last update breaking the app, they haven't rolled back to fix it and refuse to admit there's an issue. I've used this for years so I know how to troubleshoot it. Read the abismal replies on these reviews they don't have a clue.
Sorry but since last update very glichy and slow connecting not good on firestick. If this isn't sorted I'm cancelling my subs. After reading what others are experiencing. It was brilliant before... Edit Having received email from developers I'm back up and running as normal. Thankyou
been with IPVanish for years now. Had a problem with my phone thought I had been hacked. contracted IPVanish they contracted me in no time, and were very helpful. what more can you ask for ? Ah yes and there very reasonable priced for the service and security, not to mention peace of mind. put it live this, I've renewed my contract with them 3 time's now I think. Guess what, I'll be renewing my contract with them again . I am not in any way being paid for this review in any way thanks IPVa
I've used the app for years and it's been great. Now after the update it never connects, regardless of what country, state, or individual server I pick. Switch connection type, still doesn't work. Restart phone, doesn't work. Reinstalled the app 3 times, problem isn't resolved. Stop claiming you "didn't change anything under the hood", the new app is broken. Stop gaslighting people, we're not idiots.
Used to be great. Been a customer of IPvanish for 5+ years and I will be canceling. Like many of IPvanish's customers who originally signed on with them, I'm an IT professional who saw the advantage of a no-log VPN. But now they've removed the homescreen Widget, & replaced it with a Quick Tile that only turns the VPN on/off. From the two-tile widget I could specifiy the City & On/Off. Now I must launch the entire app for that. Clearing the cache is a daily task now to keep the new ver. working.
Not deliver anymore what they sell the app for. I have been a customer for of 5 years with them. Using this app to stream over foreign TV channels and when overseas, to watch my prime account. It's not working anymore both ways. Looks like the technology used by Ipvanish is obsolete and other system can recognize the IP Vanish servers and IP address Edit 03/02/22:I did! your split tuneling works on Android. Not on Microsoft comp... Found the solution :Nord VPN! Works both ways.. At least for now
All of a sudden I could not connect at all for a day or two and I was just about to update and or delete and re-install but noticed I wasn't logged into the right account on playstore... So as soon as I switched to the right account I updated and it connected immediately!
Was super unhappy that it wasn't working since update. I contacted support and am happy to say they fix the issue. I am on newest android. Happy I have my VPN back. Seems much much faster but maybe just the interface. I would first try making sure your setting are set to open vpn.
This used to be amazing app.However now if I try to watch Netflix in UK or Australia or something like that it no longer works like it should And it doesn't give off the content it should be giving off. Ip vanish needs to work on getting different servers Or ip adresses that still allow this to work since it sounds like Netflix found out the main ip addresses being use and blocked it-edit i reached out to you first ipvanish and b4 the internat rating and nothing fixed1 it. So here's one less
Not sure what's going on but ever since the last update I can't connect. It'll show connecting all day long. Works just fine on my PC. UPDATE 3/1/2022 The app is working now for Android.
This app updated in February 2022 is slick to look at but is very difficult to navigate as a user. The widget is gone, and there is no way to quickly pick a country and city. To pick a city you have to scroll through the list of every single city in every single country where they have servers. This app has been stable & easy to use for years, but now I think it is worse in every way.
I want it back the way it was before they changed it!! I open the app and now it won't even connect it searches forever! I have already reached out to support twice!! If this does not get fixed soon I will be canceling my subscription and finding a new one!! I was working perfectly before the upgrade which by the way I like the old layout better!! If it's not broke then don't fix it.. cause now you messed with it and it is only functioning at .5% which only let's me open the app!!
Earlier version had small widget option which was great for quickly connecting and disconnecting. Now the widget is a giant 4x4 size taking up most the screen. Any way we can shrink this or have multiple widget options with different sizes??
This app is awesome it works so good to protect my info from prying eyes and internet thieves A+A+A+A+ I highly recommend getting this service 4 >👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾's up. But now I'm having trouble turning it on from to top of my Note 10+ I use to turn it on from the pull down screen at the top of the phone now I have to go completely into the app to turn it on or off. Never had to do this before the New update was installed now I have to put the app on my desktop on my phone why is that???????
Don't bother. Got it so i can watch netflix in other places and that doesn't work. When you ask them about it they give you a temporary free membership to an additional software strongdns and then you'll be able to connect to other netflix servers but support for that is limited to just computers and the additional software in addition to this software is extremely difficult to figure out how the heck this all works. If i could go back in time i would probably get nordvpn instead
For everyone that can't connect, hit the connection tab at the bottom of the screen. Scroll down to your country, the US is at the very bottom, you can't see it but it's there. Then hit connect on home screen.
So far, this has been a pretty good experience. The only con is the occasional boot, well for me anyway. it usually runs fast but occasionally a movie will lag. i didn't care for the buck hike so quickly after joining. I can't remember the exact time it took atm, but none the less it sucked! All in all, I still gave them 5 because the service is on point 99 percent of my time and the customer service is above outstanding.
