If you were having trouble with your android phone running v9 and Iridium Mail there is a fix. The new version of Mail, 1.0.0118 is now compatible with Android v9. It is still a pretty shaky application though. I have chastised Iridium to do better. We'll see if they do. [Old - Mail v1.0.0116, DOES NOT WORK with Android v9. v1.0.011 does work fine. I spent 5 hours on the phone from Mexico with three service providers. The issue has been elevated to Iridium.]
Amazing resource to have when at sea. When passaging from NZ to Fiji it's incredible to have contact with friends and family despite being days and days from any land. It's comforting to know you can reach people if needed. It has worked well for us. Yes it's slow and a bit clunky at times but you just get used to using it and telling friends and companies you might be contacting not to send attachments. Overall I love it!
There is clearly a system conflict between Samsungs latest android update for Galaxy Note 9 and Iridium Mail and Web App. Successfully connected earlier verison android phones (not latest android version) and my iPhone with no problems, but not Galaxy Note 9 with latest android version (March 2019) will not connect to the Iridium Go unit.
iridium Go Mail app will NOT work with Android 9. They know this but keep it quiet untill you paid your subscription then when you ask they say oh yeah it will not work with the new Android. The last update was supposed to fix this (15 June 19) but it does NOT! They did not even test it what kind of company puts out an update and does not test it. ZERO stars.
I can't get it to see the wifi network 😒 The iridium go app works fine but nothing from this one. iOS users can connect fine, but not me.
only calls and texts internet and email is horrible. been using for 1 year now never able to connect online.

Same issue as other reviewers. App crashes when attempting to open Email . But Send/receive functiotion works...just cant compose or read what you received

I have tried to use the email function on this device and a note 2. It will not send or receive on either device. It connects with the Iridium GO, but says there is no inbound or outbound mail. I know there is because I have emailed the address for the account and have mail in the outbox. Solution please! In addition it will not open mobile website that are suggested on the Iridium site.
SATELLITE communications need the effort, time, and space. Perhaps the best is yet to come.
Very happy with it. Yeah some bugs and running in background is annoying. But hey we are talking worldwide calling, email, sms and much more in a device the size of a sandwich. Think to many people glance over this amazing feat and vompare with the www
Reminds me of running programs on DOS. Produces a notification on my status bar when I am not even connected to the Iridium Go. Iridium Go is only good for text messages. It is too slow to browse or anything like that. I can only connect to the Email account with the Iridium. You should be able to check/ clear the queue through a regular Internet connection.
I'm grateful to have the app, but annoyed by the bugs and limitations. It keeps notifying me every 60 seconds or so that it is checking my mail, but I'm not connected to the GO! I have to actually kill the background process to make it stop - it shouldn't be running in the background. Also, the fact that you can't check iridium mail from a normal internet connection is a frustrating limitation.
Will not show MENU or CREATE buttons. Older phones OK. Please fix. UPDATE on 8/14/14: I found that on the G5 the "multitasking" key can be long pressed to bring up the menu. I now can "create" & "send" emails. Took about 1 minute to send via the GO a short email. Changed rating up to 4 star and I'll continue to test out the app.
This app works, but the header of emails covers the first few lines of the body on my Galaxy Note 4, a workaround is to click Forward and read the email in the draft window.
Never once been able to send an email. Failed to connect to network every time.
Runs in the background when you are not connected to iridium.. can view the first few lines of an email. User interface is well.. terrible. You have to go to menu to hit send once you finish writing an email...
Lost emails every time I used it. Worked extensively with iridium support and they acknowledged there was a problem but couldn't or wouldn't help recover info about the emails. Maybe other things work but email is full of bugs. Be careful.
I would not recommend this app or Iridium Go! to anyone until these long-overdue crashing issues have been resolved. I have been trying to use this with Iridium Go! This app doesn't work fully with any recent versions of Android. I have wasted $150 of airtime trying to access a very basic text based web page (less than 1kb in size) and have been unable to do so. The app crashes often on each of the 5 devices I have tried it on. This app needs an update and some proper testing. A very frustrating and costly experience.
