Changing to 5 star. Discovered that this is like the only Iron Hide I didn't own and wanted to play before buying due to the jump in genre. So I HIGHLY recommend it if you're looking for a fun and interesting little mobile rts, that also takes a nice amount of time to beat. Just note that you will only have access to the first 3 heroes while offline if you haven't purchased it, though will still have access to all your progress made in the game.
Took a while to feel the gameplay out and adjust to touch controls for RTS gameplay. After uninstalling it once I gave it a last go -- glad I did! The only thing that is missing is unit promotion (non heroes) during mission play. Everything else is perfect. The difficulty is well balanced and challenging but never unfair.
I personally love this game. The troops are unique. The heroes are cool. And the towers are well balanced. And the upgrades oh my are they fun. Each troop can swap between 3 variants which makes combat flexible. There are only 3 free heroes (yes I bought some) but out of the bunch they are some of the best. There are also power ups you can get for credits. Some more expensive than others but even on impossible they are completely optional. And only serve to enhance the experience. Over all fun
Overall the gameplay is really amazing and fun but alot of people feel cheated and misled by the paywall. The game is presented as if you will get the "full game" rather than the minimum required for the completetion of the game. I think there should atleast be more ways of obtaining purchasables like through restarting or special achievements (where the player has to specifically go off on their own).
This is a really great game. There are a good bit of levels spread across 3 worlds. 9 different troops (Not counting the 3 free heroes and all of the paid ones) to choose from. Tons of enemies to fight including lots a few bosses. For less than 5 bucks it is definitely worth it. Thanks for another great game Ironhide.
While there are micro transactions in the game they don't really effect the gameplay. I've always found a fantastic amount of detail and care put into ironhide games. Ironhide also has a perfect amount of difficulty I feel for a "normal" level; maybe you have to play the level once or twice over to beat it, but that's how it should be in my opinion. I do wish there were a few more heros to unlock outside of purchase but other than that I love the game.
I absolutely love this game, from it's nice gameplay to the witty references to pop-culture. But after the 2nd World, I found it to be lacking in terms of new content. What I'd love to see in terms of innovation is for there to be a alternative campaign options, due to the fact that I found myself loving the design of the enemies you face, especially the Raan. I hope that in the future, players can be able to try playing as the Bad Guy for a change, while still keeping it enjoyable and fun
An RTS fit for the small screen. For decades the Real-Time-Strategy genre was restricted to the PC and somewhat consoles. This isn't the first attempt to bring the genre to mobile devices, but it's certainly the first one to get it right. The controls are simple and easy to understand, I'm hoping this will be the foundation more mobile developers build upon for a genre that needs more attention and love. The story isn't much to delve into, but while it's there, it's just a reason to push towards the next mission. Graphically it lies on its own art style which works surprisingly well on the small screen. All units are unique in design and all buildings are easily recognisable after just two missions. I highly recommend this game to veterans of the RTS genre and new comers alike. This won't be a regrettable purchase and you will lose hours of time playing. 9/10
Not many RTS games on mobile. This one is pretty decent in context. To use RTS terminology, it leans much more in the direction of micro than macro. Lot of fun to be had, but unfortunately most learning comes from trial & error. Enjoyable, well differentiated characters. Rapid switching of unit types is an interesting, new mechanic. Compelling skill-tree. Beginning of the game is rough on hardest difficulty, and the last third of the game is a bit of a slog.
Spectacular mobile Rts. The better heroes are a little pricey, but unlike most games of this nature, it's a one time payment to get what you want, not some rigged slot machine style random selection. Well balanced, decent graphics, and fun with the occasional challenge. I only wish there were more planets/and or missions. Ironhide Studios; thank you and keep up the good work.
Disappointing. I paid the asking price for the game thinking it would be completely unlocked, but then during play learned that to unlock all the features will cost me another £15. This makes it one of the most expensive games on Android. Uninstalled. Shame, really. Not a bad game, but it wasn't made clear at the point of purchase that I was buying a partially unlocked product. I dont really care that it "can be completed" without paying extra. I paid for an incomplete product.
This is a good game, in its core gameplay. But the in app purchases are outrageous in an already fairly expensive premium game. The vast majority of characters you have to pay for, and only 3 are actually included. I could understand if they were cheaper, but paying several times the base game price just for a few characters is outrageous. Edit: The response that you can complete the game without purchases is true, but very disingenuous. Content is locked behind a pay wall. Dropped a star.
It would be good if it were a free game, but definitely not worth paying for. The campaign was really short, and almost every hero cost extra to play them. Each level limits how you play to an extremely linear type of playing, I expected a game more like Command and Conquer, where you can choose your defense and offense but there are little choices for what you can choose. I Definitely not worth paying for! I hardly ever write reviews but considering this game isn't free I wanted to warn people.
It's a good game. Wish it had some more missions, but they can be very challenging, which is good and are well designed. Giving 4 stars because of a really really really annoying bug(?) Where it doesn't save what hero you were playing with last time you played so everytime it resets to the default guy and you have to go into the hero menu and reselect when you start the game again. Please fix this. It's not a problem in Kingdom Rush, so I'm not sure why it's a problem here.
A great game! Great visuals and gameplay! So colourful. Gameplay reminds me a lot of C&C Red Alert. Love the art and animation. Have nothing negative to say about this game! A great experience overall! Would benefit from a way of being able to individually selecting units to move them rather than trying to separate them out in order to select the unit you want.
A fun RTS game with some personality. A bit frustrating at times, though that's to be expected, and the paid heroes are bit too numerous and somewhat expensive for a game like this. Otherwise it has a rather recognizable look to it, and the upgrade system is definitely worthwhile. It does have a different feel from Ironhide's other games, but that's not a bad thing.
The graphics are as charming as ever, love the references! The gameplay was quite a twist from the usual tower defense but keeps the essence of it, definitely a good call; easy to understand controls and mechanics and really nice heroes. It's not really necessary to buy any of the additional heroes, though you can if you want to make things a tad easier, every hero has particular mechanics that are interesting to explore. Love the game! Looking forward to see what the devs will do.
It's worth 2.99, would of liked to see more unlockable heroes. That kinda ruined it for me. Nothing really to work towards your just completing levels to complete them, the game is fun to play. But not much life to it. You unlock your final hero about 15 mins into playing the game. Then all that's left is challenges and those are just check off boxes. You could keep playing to unlock everything in the skill tree. But once again that gets old pretty quick...Missed opportunity. IMO
Worth Buying! The animation is beatiful and crisp. The allied and enemy units are varied, interesting, balanced, and pretty fun. There are plenty of levels and all have replay value. There are challenges with the mechanics that can be overcome with practice, such as accidentally moving the unit when trying to pan the screen, and vice versa. Sometimes units blend in with the allied buildings. when targeting an enemy, the units will not pursue--only engage when in range. Overall recommend highly.
Definetly worth your money at first, I got the unlock all heros pack as I felt the game was great enough to put a little money towards, but there is a hero that's still locked, even after, probably after an update. Honestly charging $7.00 just to unlock a new hero is a bit steep. I don't think that's a good value for the money and wouldn't recommend that. Think it's also a little silly when you buy the 'unlock all heroes' pass that it charges that much to unlock a hero still. It's a lot, the game is a blast tho and easy to jump in and out of for casual games at work and such and it's beautiful, I like the art direction it took, but maybe the devs should take another look at how much they are charging for a new hero. It's a mobile game, and the new hero cost more then the initial purchase of the game. It feels kinda scummy to be honest, maybe give benefits to people who already made a big purchase like who bought the unlock all hero pass. I can see myself buying a new hero for $1 or $2 but $7 is pushing it.
An absolutely amazing mobile game and would even be willing to pay £10 for the game its that good. With great gameplay, design and sound its one of the best games I've ever played. However, after beating the full campaign, it loses a bit of replayablity. What they should add is more worlds or a multilayer to keep the game fresh. Finally, they should add and encyclopedia to see all enemies and heroes with stats. Great overall game!
Coming from a long time of playing Kingdom Rush, I find this game to be an excellent transition into something new. Yes... it is obviously the same style of game, but that style is what Ironhide is good at and I wouldn't expect anything else. But this different playstyle, different reason of gameplay is just the perfect change for anyone looking for a good experience(Especially for those of us who've played every Rush game for years).
This is a fantastic game! The graphics are immersive and the gameplay is highly addictive. The only downside is controlling multiple units across the map. You have to manually select each unit yo move. I think it would be beneficial to allow the user to have some sort of select option for more fluid gameplay.
I like the game,I very much do. Sadly for me these kind of game are always limited. It's like an fps on a phone. No matter how good it is,it's always worse than on a console or computer. This game is very much like that. Best real time strategy,starcraft-ish,game i've seen on a phone. A lot is done to improve and streamline the phone experience. It's still lacking, but I appreciate the effort. I would recommend the game, but I would still recommend limiting your expectations.
