IRVeinViewer — free, simple version of SpectraCam

IRVeinViewer allows you to improve the visibility of the veins*, using better penetration of infrared rays through the skin and hemoglobin contrast (Hb and HbO2) in the near infrared range with surrounding tissues. In addition, since melanin (skin pigment) absorption is maximal in the shortwave part of the spectrum, and in the IR region it drops significantly, skin color has little effect on the observability of the veins.

IRVeinViewer is extremely easy to use - launch the app and point your smartphone at the search area. Everything else happens automatically - turning on the backlight, highlighting the IR image and adjusting the optimal contrast.
Tap an image on the screen to adjust the focus.
Freeze a image with button "Freeze/Run".
Using the “IR source/Filter” button, select to view the original infrared image or processed by the filter.
Using the “Filter 1/Filter 2/Filter 3” button, apply a 2D vein contrast increase filter to the Freeze Frame.

*: The IR Vein Viewer app does not work at all if the veins are hidden by a layer of subcutaneous fat. Usualy, for most people up to 20 years it is insignificant, and the veins are clearly visible in the infrared range on the arms, legs, head. On the neck arteries can also be seen. At age after 40 years, visibility is keep on the biceps, fist and forearm. Fist veins are visible in almost all.
In addition, the hemoglobin level matters, the higher it is, the more contrast the image. Its level depends on gender (higher for men), fitness (endurance sports), degree of fatigue, smoking. An abstract ideal variant is a man of 20-30 years old, who was engaged in cross-country skiing, with a small smoking history.

Well unlike other so called IR viewers this one actually works. But the resolution isn't anything; basic but functional. If you got good veins your laughing if not you may be disappointed a bit. Function and operation I think it's more the operation of clever filtering than utilising a true IR camera to be quite honest. Its quite a basic application though it provides enhanced images to locate veins if you happen to want that for some reason!!

I don't get the bad reviews! It really does work. I have visible veins in some places including some broken ones so it's easy to tell it aligns on my face accurately. My face! Not my leg or arm! I'm really impressed.

Looking around for a vein finder is like looking for a Night vision app on the app store. Most of them are fake and just change filter on your camera. I'm assuming this is doing the same thing but it's being done in a different way. The light comes on which helps show the veins in slightly better light (even if you can't see it) then the camera adds a filter that makes it appear IR which picks up on subtle changes (your now slightly darker veins) If you guys make it clearer I'll give 5⭐

Pretty neat little app ya got here! My gf didn't believe me when I told her there is a vein viewer app, but lo and behold, I won that bet! It does *kinda* work! Basically its fun to play with for about 5 mins, but NO ONE should be using this on actual patients, or in a hospital setting, in ANY capacity! IT IS NOT A LEGIT MEDICAL DEVICE! But, check it out, its actually kinda neat! It would be useful if there was a menu button with the different options and a brief explanation of the functions!

User notes: - This is not an MRI. You wont be able to see everything! - The paler you are, the better it will work (sry melanated friends) - If you're hairy - shave - The buttons on the bottom work, you have to use them in the correct order (run first then other 2 alter the image) Developer notes: - allow volume button to freeze image - add option to save image - add flash brightness control - hide IR and Thin buttons until the Freeze button is used to minimize confusion

Worthless! This is even worse than a photo changing app. Result didn't even look like an arm, but a pixelated blob . Waste of time.

Are you kidding me with these good reviews? It doesn't show any veins what so ever. It just changed your camera to black and white. And what's with the 3 buttons on the bottom? They don't do anything! I need help so bad finding a vein and now im back to hopeless.

Honestly it's hard af to find my veins got desperate enough and downloaded this app and it actually works only for more surface veins than anything, but it's functional for sure if u really need help (buttttt u can also just order a vein finder light on Amazon or some other places those would work wayy better

This app looks promising. But it doesn't work on kids. The veins that it detected are obvious veins. I'm using a p30 huawei camera which is definitely a good camera. Still the outcome is not that good. If its good, a paid app of this will save a lot of parents a whole lot of trouble finding their kids vein for home IV therapy. Thanks.

Results appeared almost identical to the sample images in playstore. The quality of your phone and your camera matter. Good quality phone and camera equals good quality images.

Might, at a push, spot the most obvious, superficial veins, otherwise useless. Used it on my hand after it had been in warm water, I could see more veins without the app than with!

Ann. H. Jun 13, 2020

Images were such low quality that little if anything could be seen. Extremely blurry and impossobile to make out any details at all. Useless.

Is there a way to further enhance this? E.g. by using a longpass filter or ir flashlight? And if, which longpass and ir flashlight would you recommend? I have a s7 and s8 for testing. Does it help if one removes the camera sensor's filter?

I've been using this app for 3 years , I'm so satisfied cause this app is so useful to seek veins . I have to inject once a week for my illness & I have to be careful,. I mean I mustn't inject to vein . So seek veins by this app helps me a lot . I can find veins on my legs very easily . Thanks for create this one 🙏

New phone, well new as in same model(S10), but broke my last one. Wish I still had that old one, because thats when this app worked best. Now inside looking into the screen of a 1988 atari video game. 1 star bc i had to give it something for trying...i guess.

Rus. R. Feb 21, 2021

It's a cool feature I guess. Just uses a video filter. Won't actually make unseen veins appear. Also don't really know the use

Jod. A. May 4, 2020

Its more like a shadow finder.the images are too blurry and or sensitive to movements.a real let down

Log. C. Jun 24, 2019

Rus. N. May 11, 2022

It's a great theory. Unfortunately it doesn't work. Everything is gray pixilation. I can tell I'm looking at my hand but thats about it

She. H. K. Jul 9, 2020

Well nice attempt by the developers. Realize that you can't get an actual vein identifier on your samrtphone but still its a beginning. Who knows what this app will become in next few years.

Flo. C. Sep 29, 2021

Interesting app! It works as stated on my phone. Resolutions takes a nosedive tho and hd is a no-go. But neat!

Mal. S. Aug 24, 2021

A good free app which works and provide maximum aid to find thin veins. Good work developer 👍🏻 keep trying to make it more effective.

Spe. F. Jun 30, 2020

Pretty cool even if you can't take photos! The red in my tattoos glows white which is neat to look at :)

Jen. C. Dec 18, 2020

Worthless. Only illustrates veins that are so freaking obvious you would never need the finder to spot them. I wish I could upload images to express me point.

car. d. Dec 10, 2020

I was going to attempt to use this for canulation, think again what a pointless app it doesn't work, don't waste ur time peeps 🙄

Eam. M. May 29, 2019

I have a samsung S8 with an infrared eye scanner. would it be possible for an update to use the front facing camera with the eye scanner as light?

Jo. J. Dec 3, 2021

It is very useful but it could be better. the image quality is horrible

Bro. L. May 5, 2019

it doesn't not even work it is just a waste of a download. it is just a black and white filter
