Most of the time the app comes up saying it isn't sure. Other times it is flat out wrong. For example I scanned multiple ginger snap cookie products. All of the products were vegan, but the app was saying they contained nonfat milk. Nonfat milk was not in the ingredients list anywhere! This has happened on many occasions so I no longer use this app. A simple google search of the product produces better and more accurate results without the annoying ads!
I do enjoy using the app, but the ads are ridiculous. I would rather pay a flat fee than have an ad pop up every single time I scan something. I'm new to veganism so this gives me a good sound board to work off of. It also gives the information about whether or not something is vegetarian.
This app is wrong as often as right. Many times the ingredients list on this app doesn't match the ingredients of the product I'm holding. If the ingredients lists were updated I think this would be a great app but for now it can't be trusted. Also, it plays an add after everything I scan, making shopping extremely time consuming for a new vegan that has to scrutinize everything I'm buying.
Displays good information on products it can identify. Doesn't identify quite a few products. Also every single time you scan a barcode either an ad pops up or a commercial plays. Very excessive on the ads. I understand that they are necessary, but there are way to many.
I use this app often as a double check on ingredients. Sometimes it says not sure which can get annoying. I find it more helpful than it is annoying. If you use it every once in a while as a double check it is great but maybe not for every item. I wish there was an ad free version.
What a farce. Deleted now as it's an utter waste of time. Couldn't pick up the first three basic items that I tried to scan to test the app out. So I manually typed in the three barcodes. I used something typically vegan like a tin of chickpeas, and it was unable to tell me. I mean who developed and set up this app? Why bother producing something that's so fundamentally flawed, and then fail yourself to develop it so it actually works? It's beyond me
allows you to understand if there is any animal byproducts in the item. the main complaint I see is it isnt definite one or the other. this helps you make an educated decision on if the food meets your standards. certain items like l carintine can be both an animal by product or synthetic, and that's the kind of "maybe" answers it gives.
Works sometimes, most of the time you will get the answer "unsure". Even with recognised products that are vegan you will get a "probably vegan" answer. This app is a great idea, it's unfortunate that most of my scanned items aren't recognised. For each vegan scanned item I would like to see a "this is vegan" display. Don't bother with this app until improvements are made.
Nice try. The app is violently spamming you. There are ads on every page, yet this does not satisfy the greedy developer and after each scan the screen will be covered with advertisments, some even meat related. Useful, but not that useful.
This app is a big help when grocery shopping! The scanner can be a bit finnicky but works better if you hold steady for an additional second after it captures the photo. If not, it blurs the image a bit and will say "Unsure."
I think it could be an EXCELLENT app if it had a bigger database. For me, it usually only recognizes about 50% of the scanned items which I'll take. A suggestion would be to have the option to submit items not found in the database with the ingredients and barcode if NOT found. I use a similar app for macro nutrients & when an item is not found, it asks to submit a pic of the front/ back of the item w/ingredients &the barcode. It usually updates it in their database once info is obtained.
This app does not work I have tried it on 5 different things one of them was totally vegan Quorn ham slices, either the app does not recognise it has vegan or the barcode cannot be scanned. I have used other barcode and QR app. However, the adverts do work every time you try and scan something you get an advert, so if you're looking for adverts and a lot of frustration then choose this app
How the app works; Step 1. Scan product Step 2. App isn't sure Step 3. Watch an ad Step 4.??? It's the app that will leave you asking "is it vegan?", but more frustrated than you were before when you were trying to scan the barcode with one hand and keeping the packaging flat with the other. Don't download this app, unless you're trying to impress someone with your collection of apps. It serves bo practical use.
Useless until a better data base is used. On products I know are vegan, and others I knew were not. The app literally can't tell if the ingredients in question are vegan or not for a particular brand. That is, of course when it actually had something to say besides "Not Sure". And the ads.... Come on. Every scan, ad, few seconds finding an item to scan, Ad, open app, ad. Do not use this app until it gets sorted out.
The results are "not sure" for everything I scan. Items that don't say vegan and items that specifically say vegan on the box, the results are always the same "not sure" no matter what I scan.
Way too many full screen ads. As mentioned, the app is not very good at determining whether the product is vegan or not. However, it does a very good job of listing ingredients and categorizing them.
The app itself is great! The advertising is intrusive and makes the app impractical to use while grocery stopping. I'd gladly pay for the app, if it eliminated ads.
Database is very sparse - everything scanned as Not Sure. An abundance of noisy ads made this an instant uninstall. Give the users a chance to add/modify data in the database, and it could be a winner
I've scanned 3 items and all of them got the result 'not sure'. Then out of curiosity scanned a bottle of water and when it got the same result as others I decided to leave this review and uninstall the app.
3 stars = 5 for the idea, averaged out with 1 for the end product. It told me a well-known brand of steak and kidney pie was 'probably vegan'. Bugs are one thing... blatant misinformation is why I deleted the app. I hope they don't bin the project as it is very well conceived, but until it is fit for purpose I wouldn't bother.
Minimal database. Scanned multiple things with it being able to determine one way or another. Also, shifting ads, so you always accidentally hit the ad on the bottom.
It's nice. Tho my recommendation is to always compare the original ingredients the app give u and the actual box because there's been a could times it hasn't matched. It's still much faster than reading it myself though
Dreadful! Tried it on a few random items, and all were either "unknown" or not recognised at all. Also throws ads at you after every barcode scan.
Total garbage. I opened the app to test it out. Of the 3 products which were name brand that I scanned, it said "not sure." I know for a fact 2 were vegan and 1 wasnt. Oh...but I did get to watch 9 ads while doing this test. Dont waste your time.
I scanned about 10 products, all of them were identified by the database as to what the item was. However the question, Is it vegan?" was answered with "not sure" in every case. Not very helpful.
The application by default treats sugar as vegan, at the very least it should prompt the user upon first time use to select a choice. The application didnt work with any of the products I scanned, it just said unsure and had no way for me to update it. This app can easily be replaced by just reading the allergens on the packaging, as it would be more effevtive than waiting for the developer to caoture the information. Every scan shows you a video add and every scan screen displays a banner add.
