Ishihara Color Blindness Test

The Ishihara test is a color perception test for red-green color deficiencies, the first in a class of successful color vision tests called pseudo-isochromatic plates. It was named after its designer, Dr. Shinobu Ishihara, a professor at the University of Tokyo, who first published his tests in 1917.

The test consists of a number of colored plates, called Ishihara plates, each of which contains a circle of dots appearing randomized in color and size. Within the pattern are dots which form a number or shape clearly visible to those with normal color vision, and invisible, or difficult to see, to those with a red-green color vision defect. Other plates are intentionally designed to reveal numbers only to those with a red/green color vision deficiency, and be invisible to those with normal red/green color vision. The full test consists of 38 plates, but the existence of a severe deficiency is usually apparent after only a few plates. There is also an Ishihara test consisting 10, 14 or 24 test plates.

The plates make up several different test designs:
* Demonstration plate (plate number one, typically the numeral "12"); designed to be visible by all persons, whether normal or color vision deficient. For demonstration purposes only, and usually not considered in making a score for screening purposes.
* Transformation plates: individuals with color vision defect should see a different figure from individuals with normal color vision.
* Vanishing plates: only individuals with normal color vision could recognize the figure.
* Hidden digit plates: only individuals with color vision defect could recognize the figure.
* Diagnostic plates: intended to determine the type of color vision defect (protanopia or deuteranopia) and the severity of it.

Oh gosh!!! I passed both tests! I've really been wondering before about what it means to be a colorblind and if it really affects someone who's eyes are usually exposed to a cellphone's screen or that of a laptop as myself which made me think that I might have gotten affected somehow, but with this app I just confirmed that I'm perfectly clear from all those doubts!!! Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!!!!!

My all answers are not correct. But where I lost is because being skeptical about the name of colors or patterns.Else everything went well and quite complacent about it. One can fail the Colour blindness test just not because deficient in recognization of colour but also due to not sure about the name or correct information. So thats why one should have to be well equipped with the knowledge just before actually apperaring for the same in most concern places like jobs, etc.

Besides some spelling errors, it asks if you see a line and there obviously isn't one. But at the end it's like " wrong, you should see a wiggly line here". In geometry a line is defined as a STRAIGHT connection from point A to B. If you want me to look for a WIGGLY line you need to put that as an answer I can select. There is a distinct different between a line and a wiggly line.

The use of the word "line" was confusing at first. "Path" would be clearer Otherwise, nice app

this app is great, but hopefully you guys can trace out the numbers/line if we fail to see it. so we can differentiate which is which.

This app led me to believe I am more total colourblind than my green-red deficiency. This is not accurate. Also, having multiple choice makes it easy to predict with logic the answers.

I am completely color blind to all colors. now... the App works but at the start and end there is a question that the anwser to says i should be able to see (the last one i have no clue and it says i should same with the first one)

This app only gives you accurate results for extreme cases and not for moderate cases of color blindness.

I am able to see colors now that I have never been able to see before! My only regret is that the FAA never would approve the use of corrective lenses.

Very helpful since its now available online. We don't need to go to a doctor to test for color blindness.

Good app although the multi choice approach does tend to lead to some guessing

colour and options not matched in few cases

Joh. T. Jul 29, 2019

i took the test without and with color correction glasses and scored nearly normal with the glasses. (I have know i am colorblind for the past 65 years) the glasses make colors 'pop'. This test allows me to counsel my grandson and advise him that color blindness is who we are, it is different, not a defect.

Although it confirmed what I already knew, it is an excellent test. Thank you.

My Father an Optometrist gave me a test like this in 1964. He said I was colorblind now my last day of my 68 th year. I find out that I am not completely colorblind. My brother took the test and he scored worse than me. Your app may be improved if you define "line" Wiggly is ok. Versus line as a straight line. 68 y
