ISS Research Explorer

Explore the diverse ecosystem of experiments being researched on the International Space Station – both completed and ongoing. Investigate the results and benefits of many of the experiments and find out why performing research in a microgravity environment is so important. The Space Station Research Explorer provides current information on ISS experiments, facilities and research results through video, photos, interactive media, and in-depth descriptions.
The Experiments section provides access to the six main experiment categories and their subcategories. Experiments are depicted as dots within the category system and the stems connecting the dots to the system depict the length of time the experiment spent on orbit. Users can drill down to see specific experiments within the categories and subcategories or search for a specific experiment or subject using the search option. Experiment descriptions consist of links, images, and publications if available. The Experiments section can be further narrowed by selecting a specific expedition and sponsor by using the dials at the top right of the screen

The Facilities section provides an interior view of three of the station modules; Columbus, Kibo, and Destiny, and an exterior view of seven external facilities; ELC1-4, Columbus-EPF, JEM-EF and AMS. The module interiors can be navigated by dragging up and down to see different sides of the module and left and right to view any racks not shown on the screen. Tapping a rack gives a brief description of the rack and an experiment description if available. For the external facilities, the platform is shown and can be rotated and zoomed. Payloads on the external racks are labeled and the labels can be selected for more information.

The Benefits section provides information on Human Health, Economic Development, Innovative Technology, Earth Benefits and Global education. Selecting a section allows the benefits to be investigated further.

The Media section provides access to two tabs: Podcasts, and Videos. Podcasts contains links to NASA ScienceCasts and Videos contains links to Science related videos.

The last section contains links to other Space station research sites and NASA applications

The NASA SSRX app offers a wealth of information regarding experiments and activities onboard the ISS. The user Interface is intuitive and offers a well organised presentation of a copius amount of information. I would reccomend SSRX to anyone with an interest in the ISS and the activities and experiments onboard. Set some time aside when using this app. There's a lot to see!

The app has a huge wealth of knowledge for those that are researching for academia, as well as those researching to broaden their knowledge as a diversion. I will state though however that this could only be beneficial to those whom have some knowledge about the basics of the topics within this app. In other words, if you pretty much aren't in 10th grade or above then this may be difficult for you to understand anything more then the basic parts of each topic at ✋ let alone intermediate aspects.

This NASA app is, as far as I am concerned, the best by far of any they have offered so far on GooglePlay. Very informative, and, thoroughly recommended.

It works! I've barely touched the surface of this because i was most interested in confirming that every section would open & was functional, & yes! As far i've determined NASA is ACTUALLY bothering to keep THIS app functional - for now at least!

Biggest issue is menu font size. You can zoom in on certain select text, but reading the link on the UI is hard. Even wearing glasses! Otherwise it's a very nicely done app.

Need more educational games :)

To many advertisements and the in app purchases should be removed. Since it is a government entity that built the app they get funding regardless so all nasa apps should be free.

It satisfies the enthusiasts of the iss. But there is no fascinating animations, though that makes it huge sized to download and install

I loved the ball hitting game

Great and useful, but has major usability issues. The app: 1) works in landscape mode only 2) uses tiny text, unlegible even on the huge Nexus 6 screen 3) doesn't provide up to date data about the latest ISS expeditions.

Have just delved into the shallows of this one, but it is already costing me sleep, in a good way. :)

Love your work, guys. I hope there is a donate button in the app, as just because Congress doesn't care about space exploration doesn't mean we don't either.

I make payloads for the ISS. This is not only incredibly cool, but an incredibly useful business tool.
