It's Killing Time

Travel the world, meet interesting new people, and assassinate them for money!
"It's Killing Time" is an ultra-violent 140,000-word interactive novel by Eric Bonholtzer, where your choices control the story. It's entirely text-based—without graphics or sound effects—and fueled by the vast, unstoppable power of your imagination.

Earn respect, reputation, and wealth as a hired assassin. You'll be dressed to kill, driving an exotic car with outlandish weapons in the trunk.

But in the glamorous, fast-paced world of murder-for-hire, you can never know who to trust and who's gunning to take you out. Who will betray you? Whom will you betray?

Will you be a spiritual hitman or hitwoman, a ruthless assassin, a total psychopath, or a righteous killer? The choice is yours.

The game has amazing potential but it was way too short and I didn't really feel connected to the characters they keep trying to shove love interests down you're throat and when they die you dont really care too much because they're character is poorly developed this publisher has made so many good games but this one was a bit of a disappointment

An awful entry. You can sort of choose what you look like but it's never so much as remarked about. Whatever personality you try to build for your character is annoyingly subverted by how the writer wants your character to think and act. The people you work with are allegedly your friends and you're really supposed to care about what happens to them but since so few of the characters actually do or say anything important they all seem like weird unprofessional boyscout assassins. So so bad.

The story was amazing and so immersive. Loved it. And the choices make such a difference in the story. Totally worth the money. I could literally play this game a dozen times and not get bored.

I'm pretty sure I paid for this and I wish I hadn't; the beginning was okay, but the rest was rushed and the ending was unsatisfactory.

I'm sorry. Usually I like the CoG games, but this one is among those I'm going to try to forget. The writing was messy and unoriginal and incredibly clichéd and the characters are a jumble of stereotypes, but what really turned me off was that everything was so unbelievable. This is a group of elite trained assassins, yet they read like a group of pals hanging around and talking shop. Not exactly very professional. And no way is assassination as easy as this game makes it seem.

I was thoroughly impressed by this game. The atmosphere and sense of tension is what you would expect from a top rate thriller novel only in this case you get to control the action. The characters are all fleshed out and as you get into the story really find yourself caring about them. There are some amazing plot twists which I really love because it keeps you hooked. I also love the fact that your choices really matter. As I played I'd find myself agnozing over what choice to make. Really a great game.

Great plot and solid writing. I was really impressed with this game. I've been a big Choice of Games fan for a long time and I found that I couldn't stop playing this one. The characters are fleshed out well and it reads like an interactive thriller. The plot is tense and action-packed but my absolute favorite thing is how customizable the game is. If you want to play a straight-laced professional you can do so or you can choose to be a blood-thirsty psychopath. And the choices really matter to the story. There are a lot of achievements and endings and how you play determines how what ending you get. I've played through the game several times now and I always find something new. It's great because you can choose how to execute the targets in a way that fits with your style. If you like hand to hand combat, there are ways to get up close and personal. If you're a more sniper type hitman then you have options for that. The kills are really well thought out and imaginative. There was definitely a lot of thought put into this game and it shows. I would highly recommend it!

Story does not branch in as many ways as Choice of Robot or Heroes Rise. The different assassinations were well thought out, but every bit of dialogue outside of "combat" yields the same or very similar results

Love the game but after the Paris mission, when you select training, if you choose go to the shooting range, it always decreases the range stat instead of increase. Please fix. It drops a lot making my entire plan dissipate. Please fix

Great game. I normally don't read books but I see a great future for this game on the interactive book market. Perfect for a long plane trip.

I loved the idea, and plot of the story. But I wish it was a bit longer of a story, and more engaging. It had a few errors too but nothing big.

This was an absolute delight to play. I really felt like my decisions mattered. I also loved how the story kept surprising me. I'd recommend this to most! Great read

I still found misspellings and extra words, even after the update (only reason I deducted a star).

I really enjoyed this game. Are there more planned?

While I did enjoy playing through Killing Time, I felt that the writing was mediocre, even when compared to similar games. If you've played this kind of game before and are looking for something new, give Killing Time a try. If you're looking for the best interactive novel Choice Of has to offer, go with Broadsides. Tin Star from Hosted Games would be a great first choice as well.

Out of all CoG games, this one is one of my favourites. It's no Broadsides, but it was still cool, although minor characters could have been used a bit more. Some events were unexpected, your talents were actually crucial to gameplay, and there is no save system, which I actually kind of enjoy. It makes me pay more attention to my choices knowing that if I fail, I'll have to start over from the very beginning (kind of like bloodborne, but not so stressful considering it's a text based game).

This game could use a save system like the one Tin Star has, but you can finish the game pretty well as long you pay attention to your stats. 5/5 will play again
