Out of the 2 other itag apps, this one is by far the best. It does what it's supposed to do. One thing it needs in my opinion is a labeling of what the icons are. (It seems most of the top critical reviews (from this app and many others) come from people who cannot form basic sentences. I'm assuming, user error, in most cases).
Simply works, which is more than you can say about most of the alternative apps. User interface is simple and intuitive. Personally I would like to be able to turn the distance alarm off but still locate the phone or tag when in range. As a workaround you can temporarily disconnect the tag.
The app works fairly well save for a few minor bugs: The signal meter sometimes stops updating and the call-phone-from-itag feature seems to be absent [EDIT: It does indeed work with a double click!] Sometimes the tag icon is stuck forever swinging and re-pairing is necessary. Sometimes the call-from-itag beeps are interrupted. What would be nice would be a user-settable (one shot) sound for "cat entering (bluetooth) range" and for "cat leaving (bluetooth) range": A doorbell for upstairs cats.
Superior to all I tried, despite not being very intuitive, it's nice it locates your phone, I was confused about battery life wasn't for itag. Also not sure why the URL is public without encryption or login. If the other apps weren't so bad this would be 1-3 stars for privacy concerns. Send the URL to yourself in case you lose your phone. The URL is to way today, this has updated to some random chars at the end. This is better, but now it says hooking for ten minutes trying to find itag
Once itag is out of range, it can't reconnect when back together. Itag shown as lost, till you hit the button on the itag. Shouldn't it reconnect with the phone once in bluetooth range? Update: thanks for response but to confirm. If disconnected from being separated, do you need to click the iTag to reconnect? That does work but defeats the purpose of the app. How do I click the iTag if I can't find it? Would getting a new battery fix it?
Great app - far better than iSearching app the cheap tags tell you to install. The app could be more useful with extra features like making the signal strength bar bigger on tap or adjustable out of range distance. I'd like to see support for Tile and Tile Pros (their button press commands are different I guess) so I can get out of their walled garden and get notified when the Tile is out of range, but this is no reason to not award 5 stars, especially with this being open source. Well done!
When one misplaces her phone it would useful to have the phone make a sound as soon as it reconnects. ------------- Works as described! Thank You developer!!! The only thing I missing is reconnect alarm. This way if I misplaced my phone, the phone will make a sound as soon as it reconnects
It drains battery pretty quick, however I guess it's Bluetooth. Unfortunately badge failed. Battery inside it didn't survived more than month and failed when I needed it. Also stupid idea that badge or/and phone alarm if signal lost. I have battery saving profile and after it activate this stupid badge stared alarm. Someone is trying to push many features into this, while only one should be there, but should work.
This app WILL do what most really want. I.e. locate keys, wallet by iTag beacon signal strength in a building. It is the first screen of the app. The developer was right to show up my stupidity in recommending another app for this. It shows the bluetooth signal strength of the iTag beacon ( without pairing) so you can find which room the object is in a biulding. I have uprated it. The only problem with the app is you can't seem to turn off the alarm once setup as others have complained.
I have two tags, because it was being sold in a two pack. One on my keys, one on my wallet. I've connect both tags to the app, i can only use wayToday on the top app. Also, the app took what I consider a ridiculously long time to link to the tags. I didn't time it, but it was long enough to make me think the tags where defective.
App works well as a key finder, simple interface too. I guess the limitations are from the hardware - random beeps when it loses the Bluetooth connection. Also remember to change file associations in the Apps menu if you have a ride hailing App set as the the default for map files
Constant alarms. I just need to find keys when lost. I dont need an alarm every time I move away from keys or when bluetooth disconnects. Unfortunately I cant turn alarms off. The app has great potential and simple to use, but has this one major flaw.
This works better than the useless app they told me to install when I bought this garbage tag. But why can't I just turn the distance alarm off? I just want to be able to make my iTAG beep when I've lost my keys and pressed the button on the phone. I don't need an alarm going off on my phone and the iTAG everytime I leave my keys an walk 50 feet away from them. I try turning the alarm button off but it still gives me the pop-up everytime. I don't see how every app can't figure this out.
Unreliable. The phone will not sound the alarm the very day that you actually needed it because you forgot your bag somewhere with the iTag inside. But it's the least unreliable app that I could find so it's the one I'm using. If I shut down the iTag everyday and break the link with the smartphone, then restart the iTag when needed and reconnect with the smartphone, I have my chances for a few hours.
It works for only a very short distance. There is no pop up feature as stated. There are no instructions on the app. Nothing explaining what is what. Have to uninstall once it's recognized, phone alarm is constant. When I stop the beep, it disconnects every time. Uninstalled ..
I like the layout, the flick left right, name editing etc good design, tied all the others which are very glitchy only issue for me is there a way to use multiple device's? I've found if you have it on two devices it doesn't work as soon as you delete the app on the other device it works again.
Can't connect any of iTags I see on air. Screen just isn't responsive. Xiaomi Mi6. Update: once I've got less than 10 active devices around, now I can add my iTag to the app. And everything looks ok except one freaking thing: why the hell it sounds with loud alarm when my phone is in 'do not disturb' mode??? There is speaker icon on the top but it seems doesn't work. Speaker off button works on Galaxy S phone but not on Xiaomi.
Had a hard time getting device paired with phone. Another thing we dislike is there is no way to change the volume on the device in which if whatever is burried under something or in another room it would be very hard to find, so if you have a hearing problem, this device is probably not for you.
Its so annoying! The tracker goes off when I dont even want it to. it just goes off when it wants, 3am one night. I have to sit and open the app, wait for it to load and then I can switch it off
so far so good, no trouble connecting everything, sound is good to find things when lost. now for the long term.. thanks for making my iTracing Smart devices work, apparently much better than the low rated other apps
This is by far the best app for Itag. It works without needing many permissions on your phone. It works for finding your phone or your keys or just the Itag. A++ and thanks for not adding the camera function. There's already a button for that on the phone. I appreciate the privacy this app does.
Thank you so much for making a better app! I would like to be able to turn off the distance alarm though. I need it to find my keys but I want to be able to walk upstairs. I can turn the app alarm off but the keys still go off :( Thank you!!!
Beta 2.09 is a huge improvement over the previous betas, and a big improvement over the standard apps that the iTag manufacturers recommend. It's good to have an iTag app that doesn't require signing in to any web service, and the new quieter sound options make it workplace friendly.
Nice first try. Better than the app that came with my iTags. However I need to turn it all off at home, as if I go out of range with my phone ,all my keys alarms hanging up down stairs go off. It would be nice if an at home setting was implemented to inhibit the alarm when GPS shows you are at home. If implemented it would be a 5 star rating. Keep up the good work.
