Beware, Not updated in over a year
Only reasonable AI app on Google Play store. Seams to compensate for other forces and might work correctly in motion with accelerations. There is no way to adjust pitch offset (i.e. when using phone on flat surface or on a tilted phone holder).
Used with a 10.5" Samsung Tablet and internal sensors. Seems to work ok on the ground but when you fly with it and stay in a turn for a few minutes then roll level the display is way way off. This thing would be dangerous to try and use in an airplane.
Could come in handy with paragliding
Very acurrate with my jet cockpit
You need to be able to input an offset so you can mount tour tablet at a tilted viewing angle inside the cockpit, but have it show the actual pitch of the aircraft as level. In my ultralight my instrument panel is going to be tilted, so I can view it as its located near my lap/feet... not straight vertical like in a Cessna. For example, I'd want +40 degrees added to the vertical. Also more features like engine temp sensors, voltage sensors, air temp, fuel level, course plotting, air navigation maps, etc.
works perfectly. Don't waste money on the real app
Installed it the it took a mere 10 seconds to show screen demo and nothing. Ever heard about try before you buy
This gyro passes my tests done in my car. Other Android gyro apps tested by me would be dangerous in flight. There are however some small flaws. And I will report back once tested in my plane. Even if found perfect I'm unsure if I will buy as it is just too expensive. Someone else will come along and do it better for 1/4 of the price.
Looks great and seems to work but on my HTC One Plus it does not talk to the gyro. Flew it in my glider and it ignored any banking then got bored and started doing its own aerobatics. Please fix since it would be very useful.
It's a neat app that seems to work well enough, but it pops up annoying demo notices constantly. This is a trial of course so it's understandable, but the frequency is a bit high. The real problem is the price! 90 bucks when I checked, which is an awful lot for something without much functionality beyond being a compass and an artificial horizon. I would gladly pay 5 to 10 for it though, we're it priced more reasonably
Way to expensive to even consider buying
It is not good for flying. It will not hold the horizon.
Droid with "ice cream update"
Yes it drifts, but in the same way is the real one. It should drift to the g axis, if confused it will realign eventually - and it does. I'd like the information to be displayed with Airbus like tapes, but for now this one certainly works the best. Works well on the nexus 7, can imagine it may be poor on others.
This app has some major short comings. First off, there doesn't seem to be a way to use the app in landscape mode. Second, the explanations in the settings menu are incomplete. Third, there are obnoxious popups several times a minute with the free version that basically render the app unuseable. Last, the price for the paid version of almost $100 USD is absolutely ludicrous. I might be willing to pay as much as $10 just so I'd have this as an emergency backup while flying IFR but $100, what are you smoking?
Rarely do I feel so compelled to give such a poor rating but I think this developer needs to wake up. From the constant EULA/Popups making this useless even to evaluate, to the absolutely absurd price; for half the price I can get Naviator an INFINITELY more useful tool, and just spit in my hand to get Attitude indication, it's $100 cheaper. This app is useless until the developer realizes that you can get a gyro/attitude app, several of them, for $0, and that with so little functionality, ixgyro is worth$5
As it works just fine on my Garmin Android phone .. IT DOES NOT WORK on the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7" tablet which I plan to use in my glider cockpit. Drift is simply "crazy" and there are no settings value you can use to have it checked. Must be some hardware based problem (limited to this device) since it works great on ACER IONIA 7" TABLET ... if no solution found I will rather switch tablets ..
Looked like fun to download but as soon as I opened it up i noticed several problems. All values drift fairly fast and swapping from north to south over the top (like if i was doing a loop on a roller coaster) doesn't handle properly. Other apps (which will receive no bump here) handle these operations better. If i was using this demo to decide if I were going to purchase the full ($97.98) version I wouldn't dare. That point alone causes the demo to fail for me and other users running the same android version and hardware. Even as a curiosity it fails under the current set up. And a short time into the app it cuts to a "rate me" screen of sorts where you are required to enter at least a 3 to continue which i refuse to do. Is that supposed to happen or a bug? I hope it's not an attempt to garner more high votes to balance out the 51/20 5 to 1 star ratio. It looks nice visually though. In summation (for my setup): - All values drift dramatically even when device is stationary (gps on or off) - Irritating pop-up "rate me" screen - Does not instill confidence when looking into the full "Pro" application and so as a demo, fails at its job +Looks sharp
AI rolls and tumbles like a crazy roller coaster even with tablet virtually motionless. Doesn't work at all. Galaxy Tab 7.
Great app, would love to have it, just not going to pay that price point for it.
Haven't tried flying with it yet but stop yanking my chain about gyros. Accelerometers, yes. Magnetometer ,yes. ....gyro? No! ...my heading flips when i roll my phone over. A gyro won't do that. ...gonna see the same thing in my aerobatic airplane ;) .had it running 2 minutes and saw pop ups2x. Not impressed with that. Otherwise looks great. Looking forward to trying it upside down at 200 mph :-)
.. gyro on Android!.. excellent pitch & roll indication and damping.. would like to have adjustable p&r "warning colors" for offroad driving.. THANKS!
Love it in the plane. Would love it more if I could use it off road too. Really needs pitch and roll alarms.
For all of the hatred, U don't know what to say. This thing works perfectly on my HTC EVO 3D and I am more than sure that this can help out a lot of people.
Product works okay, so long as you want to use it in portrait mode. I was not able to go to landscape with would be my prefered veiw. Comsidering alternatves, not worth half the price. I do after all provide the 'electronics'.
I fly 747-400';s for a living. My fellow pilot (also a glider pilot) didn't believe this would work ... we positioned it next to one of our PFD's (Primary Flight Displays) and it followed the aircraft instruments perfectly even in very shall AOB turns. Very impressive ... tempted to purchase the full version for use in my light aircraft as a 'back up' instrument. (Running on a Samsung Galaxy S2 Phone).
Used it on my s2 today and checked with the flight instrument the ai was accurate so was the heading indicator. its free and works
Wouldn't know if it works or not as it keeps stopping telling me it's a demo ..... full version £61.74.... for an app .... your having a laugh..... you can get moving map aircraft navigation for that price
