J-Novel Club
By focusing on digital releases, and providing a membership service to let people read the books as soon as they are translated, our goal is to build a community of light novel readers and to grow the market, so that more and more releases can be officially licensed and translated. We won't just publish the big hit light novels that get anime adaptations, but also newer titles or books from small publishers and web novels... as long as it's a blast to read, we'll bring it to you! The 'Latest' tab was loading for a solid minute and I assume its preventing any of the other tabs from functioning. Eg: The search/sign-in fields wouldn't bring up a keyboard, and the actual search button didn't do anything. Outside the inital hold up from the latest tab, everything seems to work. Any chance ya'll could do something about that? It happens every launch.
The service is great if your into Japanese light novels. The app its self leaves much to be desired!. You can tell right off the bat that you can not download books from your library(purchased books). It is in need of serious integration with the formal web page... It does show your reading progress better than the web page does, so I guess thats a plus. Add a reader function to it(text to speach), improve the login, include ability to read downloaded books(file navigation), maybe more.
This app is spotty at best. It takes forever to load just the screen to sign in. The app is constantly signing me out causing me to go through the agonising process of waiting for the email and password section to register that I clicked on them. At first the chapters allowed the accessibility screen reading function, but eventually that failed. Half the time the app doesn't even register there are words in the chapter for the accessibility function to read, which is horrible for disabled use.
Great product but needs an update for the default pagination mode, which has started cutting off the last part of one or more sentences per page in certain font sizes on my phone. For users: tap the top and either change the font size or select "SIMPLE" to change to simple mode to fix this problem.
Can't read past 20%. Application is stuck on loading the rest of the book. The application is a real disappointment. Words are sometimes missing (cropped). The application does not follow dark mode etc. But the worst issue is that I currently can't read the books I'm paying for as part of the subscription.
I will admit, the app could learn a few things from ubookquity and work on pagination, but being honest you any a true otaku 4 laifu if you can't figure out how to switch between simple and fancy rendering to force pagination. You are not a true otaku if an occasional
Content is great but this app consistently drops words off of sentences, not just at the end of a page. If you change the font size, sometimes you get the missing text but it takes a long time to redisplay and you then have to find your page again
It has a very annoying tendency to log out at random. And then it frequently becomes unresponsive while you're trying to enter your info. It doesn't work with password managers either.
Nice app yet it slows down or freezes. I couldn't get to the next page nor get to choose another novel to read. I was planning to get a membership yet i need convenient app so i can satisfy my hunger (in reading). I hope you'll fix that. I dont like using the website.
Alright reader, the updates are good. Still wish there was a favourites tab. September 22nd 2018 Update broke the app, I have to use the iOS version on another device. Has been 3 weeks with no fix. Aggravating since I pay a subscription for this service.
No way to favorite or mark series/chapters. The app constantly freezes and just overall clunky and difficult to use. If it fully functioned I would almost certainly pay for membership but you couldn't pay me to use the app in its current state
Quite GREAT!, still small screen for mobiles. Like read form PC's with Browser… Ｔ＿Ｔ BUT ABSOLUTELY AWESOME FOR TABLETS ❣❣ (mine is just 9'6") Just I think a section to easy find what are you reading, like *Bookmarks* , or *Favorites* will improbe the app and web experiences a LOT.
This app constantly freezes and frequently skips pages on an android tablet, so it is unusable. Luckily the are some unofficial apps on the jnovel forums that work beautifully, and I recommend using those instead.
Once a novel you can't return to previous menu, also add font size and down scrolling method. Happy that finally a good Japanese novel is there but hope reading quality is increased and comfortable.
Works well so far. Just need to know that to access options you need to tap in the middle-top part of your phone. Made an account on a computer and sign in no problem.
This is whole trash! i open the app and i almost wait for one hour! but it just keep loading and loading and loading! Nothing happens my connect is good my signal is good but this is trash! worst app i've ever seen I dont recommend this app to install This is ony trash dont waste your time dont install it.
The interface is extremely bad. Also their are no options to sort and select. No most viewed and likes. It's a stupid app.
Very buggy and unresponsive app can't even search and switch between tabs, please look into this developer, as these are basic functions of any app.
Two words to describe this ap: Absolute Garbage. In order to use this ap you need a separate account on their website that claims to free. And it is...to sign up. To actually use your account you have to subscribe either monthly or yearly and chose between normal or premium subscription. Premium being more expensive of course. Going the ebook route opens the amazon store in a browser you already have on your phone/tablet so what is the point of this ap? Just a waste of data this is.
Some parts of a series don't load forever. The app is just stuck on repaginating splines. This never happened before the update..
love acess to great writers (and translators) but something to adjust the font size in line with other reading apps would be nice.
Over past 3 years stability of the app dropped significantly to the point I am unable to read chapters, because only half of the chapter is loading.
This app is incredibly slow to respond to anything. Very frustrating to use. Writing this rewiew while it is hanging on log in. Not acceptable for a paid service
I can't register. It's always "EMAIL ALREADY TAKEN" because when i register my 3 email adds its always "INVALID EMAIL". When i try to log in, its "LOG IN FAILED". And when i tried to sign in with my Gmail account, "505 error". Pls fix it
At first it worked fine. Now it logs me out and freezes constantly. At least fix the mobile site so there's some option to read on the phone.
Authentication issues with latest update. Often drops when opening releases ... only works if lucky.
Wanted to keep reading weekly as light novels came out, but this app is so bad that it's not worth the money for the subscription. Really a shame too because I was looking forward to continue reading. Problems include: app loads too much data upon loading making it rediculously slow, loading a book also really slow, the app locks up and crashes while reading, the search bar doesn't open the keyboard. I could go on but really this app is just completely unusable in it's current state.
