Terrible! I thought by downloading this app, I'd get a better remote connection...NOT! My profile synced, however, the app keeps staying the car is in sleep mode and will restart once the car has been driven. I've driven the car several times and still NOTHING! It's freezing in MI and I would like to auto start my car some of the time...geesh!! Definitely not a good look driving a Jag that doesn't have remote start!! #frustratedwithbothapps
Avoid at all costs as not compatible with Android 12 (using Pixel 6 Pro)! Worked fine on previous phones but now Opening it up takes it to the lock screen and causes it to be in an endless loop (only way to get back in to the phone is if you have a notification that takes you to another app). Alternatively, it crashes Android and takes it the factory reset option saying it's unrecoverable!
This app is severely lacking. It's 2019 and Jaguar is using an extremely outdated system for owners to control their vehicles. The app works as slow as possible when it decides to work which is about 2 out of 10 times. Why over complicate something as simple as remote start? The Journeys on the other hand works great and saves a ton of time calculating trips for work. Just please fix the rest of the app
Great idea, offers nice functions. But doesn't work particularly well. Very sad, Jaguar, as I love your cars! Used (or tried to use) this app for the space of three years. It is really too sluggish to be of any great use except perhaps in an emergency. The status it shows is frequently wrong or outdated (and I live in a very densely populated area with good mobile reception and use numerous other more complex apps without any issues), sometimes it is simply missing data (uhh). Jaguar have obviously set up this app badly technically, you would think they had put the servers on the moon it is sooooo slow. Makes all the other different apps I use seem incredibly fast! Disappointingly. Requires great patience. I won't be renewing my InControl subscription at this time.
The app worked fine for about a year. Now it only works about one in ten times . It just can't be relied upon. This app will make you frustrated at best. So much for commitment to quality. I'm done with Jaguar Update Oct23 2019 App does not work frustrating when you'd like to warm up before going into a cold car. So many issues that Jaguar ignores Its been a few years now and I get it to work once every 15-20 times
It worked fine for several months when I used it to precondition the car and check up on charging progress, but yesterday it failed to open after several attempts, deleting and reloading the app and rebooting my phone I noticed that it had been updated recently, so I hope the developers will see this and solve the problem. No point in continuing to pay ATT monthly to use an app that doesn't work..
Great features but so unreliable . such a shame that the app is constantly telling me that I'm in an area with poor reception when the car thinks it has full bars. sometimes the app tells me it hasn't connected to the car in hours and that my doors are unlocked but won't let me lock them. Then I try a remote start on the car and it works.
When it works it's good, but during the cold weather over the last 2 months, this has been very temperamental, and not worked on many occasions. Been back to Jaguar who had the car for a week are were unable to change an update the telematics unit. The app would benefit from alerting when the engine is off and doors/windows open or car is unlocked. It would be good if the heated steering wheel and heated/cooled seats could also be turned on remotely rather than just the AC.
Was excited about the remote features, but they work very intermittently (most often not working). I constantly get error messages that the device cannot connect - even when I'm literally standing next to my router, and the change departure times feature has never worked. PS - I'm app savvy, but regardless, the app was installed and configured by the Jaguar Valet, so It's not user error.
Have an android phone & this is the worst app ever. For a fancy car, it's a shame it doesn't work. In the winter remote start is a must & as of now not happy w/ this. Can't even do it from my key!! For me it's important since I've got little ones & rely on remote start to help warm the vehicle prior to getting in, esp in a storm. If this isn't fixed by the time my lease ends, will be rethinking my options!
Update: app update 1/7/19 I-Pace is no longer connecting to the Remote app as of this update. I love being able to check to see the latest status of my I-Pace. I have noticed odd events on occasion, like if I switch on preconditioning via the app but then get into the car within a short time, the car can sometimes refuse to start and other oddities happen which cannot be cured without opening the drivers door. A few more bug squashing exercises required in the car as well as the Remote app.
**PLEASE READ** You need to go into the App Info, then Storage and clear the cache and data and it will fix the September 2019 update! Just crashes after latest update. It used to work decently but slow with occasionally not connecting, but now even after reinstalling the newest version won't even open, just crashes. Oh and don't send to the email address supplied as it is no longer a monitored email address.
In a nutshell, it looks like an application written all too quickly and, therefore, in desperate need of dramatic improvements. Fancy any examples? • Instead of forcing users to enter an e-mail address and password - whenever the App is opened – a simple, quicker PIN wo do wonders. Especially considering how often that very App is accessed by users. • Making the car blink and toot the horn - hoping to scare off somebody eyeing it – would take ages, even if we did not mistype our log-in information on a tiny cellphone screen – such a too common annoyance already! • Connecting to the car and giving it any command does not always happen seamlessly- even if you are in front of it. The App itself often freezes, thus requiring tedious re-launch or refresh procedures. • The scheduled start-up and the choice of the preferred recharging times still does not work, neither from the App nor from the on-board computer. In my opinion this App should be rewritten from scratch.
After a very rough start, this app has dramatically improved. InControl Remote connects much faster to the car than earlier releases and performs its intended functions quite well. There is still a problem setting departure times but I believe the issue is with the car and not the app. I am happy with the functionality of InControl Remote but recommend JLR adds some data similar to the aftermarket app WattCat.
It's a decent app but it often has trouble connecting to the car. Sometimes i have made it to the car before it connects. The continuous warnings are obnoxious. Its my account, im signed in, I should not need to see the same safety warnings everytime i use the app. The lock door function has come in very handy on multiple occassions and I mostly use the remote start, which is pretty nice, when it connects smoothly and timely. When my free year is up I would not be happy having to pay for service
Not much you can do. Can't control Windows or trunk. Can't use as key to start, stop, drive vehicle. No valet controls. Takes awhile to connect to car and get lock, alarm, window status. No on demand refresh for status. Hangs when trying to set preconditioning or delete. Receive errors like "an error has occurred with remote charging profile". Receive errors when trying to set charge period. Needs a UI refresh.
Unbelievably slow communication with vehicle from the app. The app itself is in dire need of a makeover as it is not intuitive, it doesn't match the vehicle's UI styling, and essentially looks and works like an app from 2012. A luxury brand is failing during one of the most critical touch points of the customer experience with this clunky outdated "app".
App seemed to work fine using iPhone. Have recently changed to a Google Pixel 2XL, and this is when problems began. Journey log no longer updates unless I UNINSTALL & REINSTALL App. Spoke to JLR about it, and they made it seem that my experience was the first time they'd heard of this issue. Also, my phone keeps dropping off it's bluetooth connection with the vehicle, making handsfree operation impossible.
Frustrating - Unreliable, sometimes works, sometimes doesn't, keeps thinking my car is somewhere else when it's not. Remote start - keeps sleeping and then app says it will wake when I next drive the car. 4 journeys later, still not woken. Log in and out of app makes no difference. Extremely disappointing for Jaguar to be associated with such an appalling item. Do yourself a favour - don't bother with this app (unless you like non working frustrating things).
I have bought the Remote Premium for 2 more years because I have not had any issues and also noticed a new addition to the security to notify me if I have not locked the doors which is a great improvement to the App. I have a question on double locking the car (XF R-sport) with the key - will all the windows automatically close with this locking? I noticed I have left back windows opened slightly and no alarm went off or alerted me automatically with double locking with the key? Will I be able to close all the windows via the mobile Remote app? I use via iPhone to access the Remote App (2.8.1).
First time I've had a car that has an app like this. Whilst it should be reassuring to know where the car is parked... It is is disconcerting that frequently the app tells me that the car is unlocked, when I find it is locked, or that variously windows or doors are open, when they aren't . Three stars for effort, but the info has to be right.
Over the past month this app has been trash. It tells me it was a network problem with contacting my vehicle, however it would be running. This app hasn't been updated in quite some time. Jaguar should look at these reviews and fix these issues. Since this is the only option for remote start.
It was ok until the latest update, after which it simply fails immediately on startup. Have instead installed the app named Jaguar Remote (no InControl in title), which is more sleek, but lacks the option to set a wake up date. Update 20sep2019: The issue has now been fixed! Thanks. It is not the most exciting app, but it now works as intended.
Man I brought a brand new 2020 Jaguar AWD-S P300 and the remote want even crank my car it did for about two times and that's it , it keep saying a window open why is that , or it will get write once driven again just lies,. Come Jaguar u all can do much better then that Ford vehicle can crank up with remote and Jaguar can't don't make sense Jaguar
