Found a good app for MP3 streaming, Hi cast. This app is pretty awful. is a real shame as i really like the speakers. only efficient way to use them with this awful app is via a streaming service. Finding individual albums or songs or artists is incredibly time consuming from mp3. when i contacted them to see if i could get the source code to add a simple search by folder option. get fobbed saying they will be passed to development team. the app isnt supported anymore so whose gonna do what.

most of these reviews are correct! The speaker itself is excellent quality and sound but the app is extremely poorly engineered unfortunately and doesn't seem to have any reliable support to back it up. Even the built-in features don't even work! IHeartRadio doesn't allow me to connect to my existing account or create a new one for that matter! And the app constantly disconnects from the speakers. It's unfortunate that the excellent Hardware has very poor software to back it up.

I would love this to work as the Speaker is fantastic value. Sadly the app is very poor. The speed of playing from a phones music library had been addressed. It has but sadly at the sacrifice of playing albums in their running order and only in alphabetical sequence. My music cannot be played from the NAS drive either. Disappointingly makes the system redundant.

This application needs an upgrade. Not very user friendly, I had a hard time setting up my speaker back up after getting a new wireless router. Now, none of my presets work and it will not allow my to set them back up. I still love the sound quality of the speaker, after 5 years it's still going strong. Even in my garage in 110 degree summers. Please add some support into your legacy devices. Thanks

I have the Jam Symphony, great speaker for a good price. But the app is very poor and some of the built in streaming services won't let you connect without a premium account (Spotify). The My Music Library doesn't let you point to a particular folder and so just shows everything on the phone which makes it very messy. It doesn't have any built in DLNA services so if I want to stream something from my media computer I have to use All Cast. This could be good with more effort but I'm not convinced that anyone is continuing to develop this app. On the plus side the speaker has an AUX input so it'll never be completely useless.

As with everyone else, I'm very happy with the speaker sound quality but appalled at the state of this app. If you can get it to actually recognise your speakers (often it will not find anything until you reset the speakers) then good luck actually implementing the app. Constant crashes, horribly dated UI and unresponsive to internal phone gestures (have to use in-built navigation buttons). If you can get music to play on your speakers then it will often stutter or stop playing altogether.

Speakers are one of the best qualities for its price but the app is a complete mess. The UI is wonky, it won't let me repeat a song, shuffling is messed up, and the app is really just outdated. It'd be way more worth it if the app was better. Thank goodness I can just use spotify but sometimes it won't let me repeat songs like I said before. Please fix the app.

In one word awful. The built in stream whilst using Spotify disconnects if your phone if left idle for a few mins. Volume control does not work unless you wake your device and go back into the Spotify app. When using the jam WiFi app to stream music from the library of albums loaded onto my phone's music player it gets about 2 songs in and then stops on every album or song and starts randomly playing another. It fails the 2 basic reasons I bought it and therefore is not fit for purpose.

Bought 2 Rhythm Speakers, they are excellent but app is very poor. Set up instructions did not work for my OnePlus 6T. Took me two hours of trial and error to eventually connect speakers to my WiFi. When playing music in Spotify it will randomly disconnect when playing next song. Cannot control volume unless I am in the app itself. Ability to use the EQ is lost when 2 speakers are paired. Renamed speaker will randomly revert to original speaker name.

Poor app, really pulling my hair out. Connected everything fine and got all 3 speakers working for an event. Random drop out of speakers but seemed to sort itself out after a while. on the day app didn't see speakers nothing working. had to reset all the speakers and start again. Eventually got them working. A week later open the Jam app, sees only 1 of the 3 speakers. Turn speakers off then on again speakers eventually show up. Minute later random speakers are dropping out.

Excellent app! Finally have a phone this works on as was limited to my old HP Touchpad to use this the past year. Works flawlessly for syncing my Jam speakers, streaming music from my phone, and chatting with my virtual Alexa. Psyched to have a phone this works on, though realistically you can setup your devices once and not need it again. I'd gone nearly a year without touching this app as the speakers worked perfectly after getting them setup the first time with multiple paired speakers.

Got jam speakers to do all devices. Works ok with Alexa app but browsing music not so good unless you are using the Amazon original app. Then it needs Bluetooth with audio Jacks connected. Your own music is so plain it's like streaming off Dropbox no artwork. No Google set up eather. Speakers sound great that's why I've kept them, and played about with audios wires a bit of hard work has paid off you need a bag of plaster so now they are wireless because I buried them into the wall..

Just bought symphony speaker and the sound is excellent. The app is slow and doesn't have Google music! Although you can connect using other apps they contain annoying ads and disruptive sounds. It would get 5 stars if Google music was included. Alexa is also slow and it's not my wifi as Alexa works instantly on TV.

Can't link with Amazon prime anymore. Keep getting an unspecified 'Fail' message when trying to play music. Useless. Still no resolution to the Amazon linking issue. Three emails to support and numerous Tweets but absolutely no response. What kind of a way is this to treat your customers. I have two of these speakers and they're glorified radios now.

Somehow got worse - when I first used the app when ingot the speakers in 2016 there was little to be desired. But after resetting my devices and trying the app again, somehow it's lost features. The ability to add tune in as a preset still doesn't work for instance, the app just doesn't allow you to pick a preset.

This app is complete junk. It randomly started playing music and the volume continued to increase to max without any input from me. It wouldn't pause or allow me to turn it down. I even shut the app completely and it still played the music. Literally the worst app.

Bought two of the Jam Voice speakers, work on bluetooth but this app is junk. Speakers connect to wifi following app instructions, but after connecting can never be found by this app again. I'm not a network noob so know it's not the speaker, it's the app not finding the speaker. My favorite thing is the error message that says my phone is connected to wifi (wifi name), please connect to (the same wifi name) and retry. WHAT! Still no luck, firmware updated the speakers, factory reset several times, still not finding network connected speakers. Developer needs to look into how the app is finding the speaker (port 53) I assume and figure out why it's not seeing them. If its using UPnP to find them, bad idea. Netgear R7000P router with latest firmware and a factory reset. My end is working properly, it's your app that's screwed.

Great speakers but probably the worst app on the Play Store. Of late speakers will not sync at all so have to play 1 at a time, which defeats the purpose of having a multiroom system. I will be going back to Sonos in the very near future.

I love my Jam Rythmn speaker. It sounds as good as similarly sized speakers that cost as much as 9x the price. That being said, the accompanying app is horrible. It is very slow, often entirely unresponsive, and has very limited support for music apps. It's shocking how bad the app is compared to the speaker.

Joh. E. Feb 16, 2022

Been using my 2 speakers and the app for many years, occasional issues but few and far between. Until now. Magic radio is now in Planet radio and not TuneIn, is there an update planned to allow access to this new platform? Agree the app could be better, but once setup you do not need it.

Takes a while to figure it out but when you learn how to use it then it's very impressive! supports Amazon music and the in built Alexa is spot on!! not tried it with spotify but you need the spotify premium which I don't have. all in all good product and the app is straight forward. 👍

Initial review - 3☆ - Speaker sound/ tone very good, but the limited app functionality a big let-down, particularly if relying on the app to play music; Alexa option feels slightly gimmicky (activates via pressing a button in the app instead of purely voice activated??) but thankfully a non-essential function. Update 6 June 2020: speakers bought last year worked fine up to recently. This week performance has dropped off a cliff - at best intermittent connectivity via the app. Covid19 symptoms?

Really enjoy being able to play my music from my phone without the hassle of coming back to my phone to change the music. I can change it whenever I am throughout the house. Really great sound quality from the speaker too! App is easy to use.

Easy to install & setup. Good control of speaker functions. I am using it on a galaxy s7. Playing iTunes and Pandora through airplay. I connect 3 Symphonies and one Rhythm through Airfoil. Would be better if I could do that function through the Jam WiFi app instead. I have 2 of the Symphonies configured as a stereo pair through this app.

Terrible. Got this speaker and didn't know it was only compatible with that app with very limited listening options. And the app shuts down every so often and won't let you go in to change the song. The app is poorly made and makes this speaker a regrettable purchase.

Laq. H. Oct 13, 2019

I got this as a gift and tried to set it up for the first time and this dumb app won't even let me connect, I tried at least 10 times. Before anyone from their team tells me otherwise, it's not on my end and this should be able to connect with no problem. I wish I had a receipt to return it, but I don't and I guess it'll be stuck collecting dust under my bed.

Update 2021: now worse than before. Speakers connect and disconnect on a whim. I have just chucked the whole thing in the bin. DO NOT BUY THESE SPEAKERS. Really hopeless. Speakers are great, on the rare occasion you can get the app to work. Updated May 2020: BBC products (podcasts and radio stations) CANNOT be played through these speakers. As these form 80% of my listening, the speakers are now useless.
