This was once my favorite app to use, so i can stay up to date.. however, i made the mistake of updating the app. Since then the only thing that shows on the app is the exchange rate. I am no longer able to read any news article, i am not even seeing any article as a matter of fact. I am extremely disappointed. Until, the matter is adjusted i cannot recommend this app to anyone. Save yourself the trouble
Horibble app. The new app dosn't provide a view of several stories to make selection easy. You have to scroll through each story individually. In addition, when an article is selected, quite often you see a totally different article.
Frequently crashes. Sometimes all sections don't load, impossible for me to see the business section on the weekend for some reason, it starts at entertainment. When I click on notifications, the app crashes and it only loads the current day's news. Terrible news app. Don't deserve a full star
First let me say it looks good but I dont like that i cant load the articles to read offline. This was very useful to me especially while travelling overseas where you have little or no internet access. This app is not much different from its website right now. It needs a little tweeking PLEASE.
The new app has many glitches. I don't get the latest news sometimes and I had to uninstall 3 times because the daily news wasn't changing from the previous days. Please sort out these glitches so I can enjoy what was once an easy app.
The old app was better. Since the upgrade this month (September) it does not download or open at work so I no longer get to catch up on the news during my lunch break. Absolutely dissatisfied with the upgrade
1) Lacks a comments section. I enjoy reading the views of others & sharing my own, but you dont have that capability. 2) Notifications about specific articles do not take me to the actual article, it only opens the app. I still have 2 search 4 the article. It should be able 2 take me 2 the article displayed in my notifications. 3) The permissions u require baffles me. Y do u need my phone status & contacts info??? 4) Ur last update was in 2016. Will delete soon, u dont care about improvement.
Since the most recent update, this app has become a joke. 9 out of 10 times when I select an article to read, what comes up is another thing. I don't understand why I'm seeing a 2 month old article instead of what I selected. Kmt.
Why the app not updating on a daily basis again. From Sunday no new updates no news what's going on
The app was working great until about october-november wherein the app juat stopped loading the news. I tried deleting and reinstalling and it loads the day i install it and then it just stops, i am only seeing the news for the day when i installed it a week ago. What is happening?????
On numerous occasions when an article is selected, another is displayed. It is after i upgraded the app I am experiencing this, previous version was fine
Sometimes the app selects or reverts to the wrong story that was not selected in the first place.. After selecting a story, it'll load then the app closes without opening the story..
Absolutely waste of time.....always have to be going in settings to adjust the font....once u leave the app.you have to reset front on your next visit.....not impressive....the one star is just the permission to post.....thank goodness for loop
Having issues refreshing the app since the last update. Pulling down does nothing and everything is blank. Only occasionally able to view the news stories.
New version of the app isn't very user friendly and always refreshes when you are using it, please bring back the old app. Sometimes I select an article and another one comes up. So bad that I am now using the website.
I'm unable to click on notifications to read the news story that I'm being notified. I have to go to the app. And when I open the app..it's usually not yet updated with the news story.
The new premium platform is terrible. Infinite login loops as you try to access content. It simply doesn't work, did they bother to test it? I am happy to pay for content, but it needs to work
This app has gotten significantly worse since its last update. It is lagging and considerably unresponsive to screen touch gestures.
Frankly speaking this app was much better before it was updated. Now it often freezes and you cant get to read the articles without disruption. Its really disgusting.
I absolutely love the work that has been done on the updated version of the Gleaner App. The UI is clean, sleak and very user friendly.
Terrible app cant read the gleaner over a week now cant access app it keep crashing whenever I try to access it..I guess the gleaner does not care because they are pushing for us to use the e-paper which is a paid subscription.
App works fine when first installed but stop updating stories thereafter, I deleted it and try a fresh install but the problem continues. You guys need to fix whatever is causing that.
For an app that represents such a first rated institution as the Gleaner, it is sad. The news just will not load. I tried loading the sports section and it will not update to the new day. Will just have to uninstall this useless app.
After the latest update the app fail to load with an error message that "there is an error please try again" with several attempts to launch the app giving the same error message
This app freezes and freezes my tablet forcing me to restart my tablet everytime . This app needs major upgrading work,not happy with it at all!
Previous app. much better!! Difficulty opening this app. & difficulty reaching the articles. Quite disappointing!! Reading the Observer instead
I think the UX/UI still needs work. The app should be intuitive, currently it looks like a website in responsive mode. Some of the issues I picked up were a redundant nav bar, poor use of space, too much text/words and poor use of icons/widgets. For older stories you could have use an accordion. Users don't like to scroll too long to find what they are looking for. A catching image and heading are the key elements to intuitive design. I look forward to seeing the next version of the app.
