Japan Transit Planner
For the Japanese domestic railway, aircraft route and transit, you can search and navigation through this APP.
You only need to enter the departure and the destination stations to check the route, the cost and the time required easily.
In addition, based on the data including all Japanese stations(except a few of districts), it can calculate the required time and travel time precisely.
The APP is applicable till Jun. 30th, 2017.

Better than Google Maps. Would be better if: - when you are to transfer stations (not just platforms), it said "Transfer to __ train station" not just "Transfer" with the next platform. -Still don't understand why platform numbers are listed with a decimal sometimes ("Platform 3.4" and not either "Platform 3" or "Platform 4") If the instruction is an "either/or" situation, please use "/" instead of "." -Please add the car# closest to the escalator at the exiting station! Better for handicapped
Cant even select which types of trains to use. Pretty useless. The Japanese apps are much better with so many options, walking speed, change over options, fare options, etc. This one is pretty useless. Same results as Google maps would give.
A great Helpful App to Navigate in all Trains and Shinkansen. ( JR Pass user) For First time travellers, even the basic version of app is sufficient enough to find the way around easily. A small Suggestion for improvement would be to include the station number of Departure Station and Arrival stations for user convenience.
Used it for 3 weeks of travel in Japan. We travelled to 10 different cities and the app was precise, easy to use and accurate every time. Only major fault: only takes into account trains and not buses, which were sometimes the best option.
What can I say? This is one fantastic app if you are travelling in Japan. it doesn't bug you, it's been pretty reliable, and it's easy to use. The only small downside is that it requires Wi-Fi. However, that can't be helped because you get real time information. Without this app, I'd be lost! A big thank you to the team that made this app and keeps it going.
It stopped working a year ago. It is still not working after a re-install. There is an error message "Cannot obtain information" every time I search for something. I paid the premium ticket. This did not help.
very useful and accurate. little improvement: if can mention all the platform to get the train will excellent! as i missed to catch the train when i in oita because i dunnnoe which platform when i only have 8minute for transit change
Tested a few apps for English speakers to navigate through Japan via train. This seems to be the best. Informative, clean and modern. Thanks for creating this. :)
Very useful apps. Got recommended area of attraction in prefecture that u want go. Must prefect is the subway station route and walking plan, very good for first timer like me.
WAS a very good app until recently. You have now to PAY for some important informations that were free before... in english, but in japanese, it's still free of charge : the famous "japanese sense of hospitality", once again. Yōkosō Japan !
Why did this app suddenly get a helluva' lot more troublesome to use? Up until the other month it had intuitive input but now it's far more bother than Hyperdia so I'll go back to that. :-( We want quick, easy solutions, please.
Very useful if u are about to go to Japan & using public transportation. The train schedule is accurate, the transit/transfer guide between train lines also accurate. Very recommended!
Excellent app when travelling around Japan, especially Tokyo! I got on the wrong train when arriving at Narita airport and the app helped me to get to where I needed.

This has been a very helpful app for me during my time in Japan. It gives you what stations you should ride and at what time, including the station name in Japanese, Furigana and Romaji as well.

Highly customizable trips, it is worth paying for. Better than using Google Maps to plan your Japan rail trip.
Much better than the default Google Map. For some situations G Map doesn't show up the fare but this app can.

now cant get any routes. I used it last year and it was good. Now it is useless. FIX IT.
it doesn't tell you what platform the train leaves from, thus making it completely usless.

There doesn't appear to be a way to prefer JR. the JRP switch doesn't do that. The back button eagerly exists the app, instead of going back. The search results could do with more possible routes. There is no clear distinction between JR trains, and non-JR trains.
