It helps a lot
The English to Japanese part is alright, if I know what I'm looking for. But I tested the lookup feature with a Japanese menu and it always came back with "0 results found".
I love that this has no ads. And the paid version adds useful features. If you can read and speak some Japanese, this is a nice reference to have on your person. If you cannot read and speak Japanese, the paid version has audio and other features to help you.
Useful but can't see pics of food. Also I wish they wrote out the Japanese words in Roman letters so that I can say them

Update: Font size can be modified now so now the app is 5 stars. Previous: Comes in handy when you are looking at a long menu and can't find that certain food. If the kanji readings on the food list screens can be as big as the home screen list (in English), this app would be rated 5 stars.
Cute and awesome app I ever used
Seems useful, but lacks a lot of very basic ingredient vocabulary so I could use it to help avoid allergens in my food. For example it doesn't recognize wheat, gluten, grain, bean, pea, lentil, legume etc.
