Its great for memorizing katakana and learning how to draw the characters correctly. It'd be better if it had a feature to quizz you on what you have learned and to practice spelling basic words.

I would be better if kanas were in correct order. Besides, it will be handy if pronunciation activates automatically on kana change.

This app offers a useful tool for learning how to draw katakana. It's low on features, making it more dificult to drill those pesky characters which still plague one after all that practice, but for the beginner, this would be great.
It is out of traditional order, keep that in mind if you are just starting learn, but still very good.
It uses bit mapped user interface, tries to scale for a tablet screen and becomes completely unreadable.
