Just jumping in, but looks to cover a gap I was having in my learning. Just a few quick things I noticed: needs a dark mode very bad. It is binding at night. I would also love to see some clickable grammar explanations. And when clicking on a kanji, bring the current usage to the top. Right now if it's a verb, often have to scroll to find the correct definition. But overall it looks promising and will see what more it has to offer. Thanks for the app and material.

It is a very useful app. Many interesting articles and it covers many varieties of aspects. It would be perfect to enhance the app to include pronunciation for readers to improve their intonation.

Edit: actually got the wrong app when I edited last time. This actually does not have the kana translations and is still pretty bare bones from the lat time I have used it. It is nice to have stores available that are in the N level you are looking for. But besides that not much else is going for it compared to others.

^-^ Yep! Everything seems to be working just fine now and faster than before! Fantastic! I have just one suggestion. Add an option for the romanji above or below the characters if that's not too much trouble, please. I'm still memorizing characters, and I'm sure it would be good training wheels for others as well. Only a suggestion though. Thank you for working so hard!

It's great and the developers seem to be working hard. While there are many translations for vocabulary words, there are no overall translations for grammar. Sometimes I think I understand a sentence, but it's hard to check if I understand the right meaning because the grammar is not translated into a full sentence. For example, see Todai Easy Japanese app. They have direct translations for vocab but also have a translation for each individual sentence. Stories are much more fun than Todai tho!

It would be great if, in the list of the meaning of the kanji, if it's one made of 2 or more kanji, the meaning of the individual kanjis could be shown. It would also greatly improve the app if you could add a dark mode AND an easy-to-access furigana switch. I'd love to be able to switch it on and off without having to open the option menu.

Its alright. I did not sign in, but you should have the basic options to save to favorites, have different N level kanji, view articles by easiness and view off line. No kana is clickable and a lot of Japanese is written in kana, even if there is a kanji associated with it. It is bare bones, but usuable and it is free so it gets three stars for now.

So far I like it. It has a easy and smooth design, you can adjust text size, and let you see or not furigana in kanji. Only two things: As always, a black background is always welcomed, and you can't select text, but you could let us do it to redirect it to a website dictionary. Thanks for this app.

The app is very nice but unfortunately hardly usable. Scrolling is very slow. If it could be fixed the app would be a 4 star. Also verbs are not translated. I guess you are using jisho? It supports that. Anyway verbs need to be translated as well. Ultimately it would be great to choose a feed freely or being able to paste a text freely. Maybe, if you plan to keep the app free, you could consider releasing the code on GitHub so we can participate.

Would be very beneficial to have each word- kana, kanji & particle be able to be clicked on & understood. Also have the kanji color coded (for example) for each N level & an option to search/sort through stories by N level. Right now I am just randomly scrolling. We also need a night time mode & a faving option. Maybe search by key words as well. If I was into "festivals" for example, it would show me all stories about them. Decent app, but needs more options and filters to rise above the pack

This app is great for reading simple Japanese texts/short articles. It has furigana and an in-app dictionary which is really good for learning new words fast. The articles also have a difficulty rating from N1 down to N5, but often these do not actually reflect the difficulty. An N1 article can be easier than an N3. This is the only problem I have with the app.

This app has helped a lot with my reading when I combine with kanji flashcard drills. It tends to reload the whole app on my tablet if I switch between Google Translate and an article, but no such issues on my phone. I love the JLPT level on the card view, this is very useful.

Hii. E. Jan 5, 2020

Amazing app. Love that the UI is simple and clean and the Kanji translation works excellently as long as you know which translation you need. I only wish there was a way to switch to English to check if I've read the article properly.

max. g. Dec 26, 2020

EDIT: I had to sign in to read the articles. The app states you don't have to, but I had to anyway. None of the articles seem to be loading for me, despite being connected to the internet and having a mobile connection. Will update if it's fixed. :)

Been looking for an app where i can practice reading hiragana. I found this and its much better than what i was looking for. It even has kanji with hiragana above it. It looks like the team behind this is small and i appreciate the effort theyre putting into this. The ads isnt intrusive like other apps where u cant use the apps because of how aggressive the ads is. App is pretty good. Cheers

I wish it can be available offline. And can navigate through oldest stories to new one. And importantly, can copy texts so I can have it translated. You have the best layout btw, totally readable and not distracting to the eye.

E. O. Jun 27, 2020

I really like this app! The layout is simple and nice which makes it's super helpful in reading Japanese! I have a few suggestions that I think would be really beneficial for users, such as being able to favourite words so we can look back on them, and to be able to copy and paste from the articles! Thank you!

The only thing that I find troublesome is lack of any sort of ratings, nor ways to somehow bookmark the text you're reading. Information on what level of Japanese does a text use would be a great advancement for the reader.

I'm glad to have found this app. Please add a filter based on JLPT or CEFR levels so users can have an easier time finding articles based on their competency. A human audio of someone reading the article is a very nice feature some apps for news (aimed at learners) for English and Spanish do this.

Lil. W. Mar 18, 2021

Hi, I like this app. But have you ever considered adding "read" collection feature? Then users would be able to review what articles they'd read. Everytime when I log in, I lost progress, it seems all the articles were reset to "unread".

His. May 22, 2021

The description of the app sounds like it is what I am looking for, but it isn't working at all for me. The entire app is an unresponsive black screen. If I close and reopen it, there will be a popup prompt that recommends setting a daily reminder, but the rest of the app remains black.

Fak. A. Jan 17, 2021

I want to try it out but when i open the app it says "sorry couldn't load articles right now. Check your internet or try again later" The things is I'm connected into a wifi.. tried uninstalling it but it's still the same.. I hope it will get fixed as I want to try it

Jon. L. Jul 3, 2020

It is a good app love using it. It has a great UI. Great reading practice. I did have an issue with the app but the developer took care of the issue. Not only a great app but a good developer in my book.

Tim. F. Feb 19, 2021

update: As promised the app now does have filtering for JLPT levels. Therefore I've given it 5 stars! An excellent app. Really great app for quick articles to read. A big improvement would be to add a filter for which level you'd like to see so you don't spend ages scrolling through

Shu. S. Jun 4, 2020

This app is great for reading practice. I use it everyday. Please please add some feature so that we can easily read old news without scrolling down too much.(something like date filter).

You. m. l. r. Dec 11, 2020

I've been looking for an app like this one but I sadly cannot use it. I am at n4 n5 level and when I search for n5 articles I cannot find any recent ones that have grammar I have studied. I understand this is not your fault but I reccomend you add more articals in the n5 section and maybe include the english translation of the whole articles below. Don't get me wrong, overall a good app. I look foward to learning more grammar and hopefully returning to your app in the future.

ed. f. Jun 15, 2021

I like the basics. But I cannot cut text from the story to add to a word list of flashcard. That would really improve the app for me.

Ben. G. Jan 11, 2020

Not what I was expecting. There is a long scrollable list of articles, but no top level menu. Perhaps the name of the app and the play store description could be more descriptive

zey. h. Jan 9, 2020

The app is great for practice reading. However, for the next update, please see if you can consider my concerns below: - Its hard to scroll down further, can we have page numbers or links to different reading? - Would it be possible to access the dictionary when offline? - Some kanji are easy to understand. Good to have this in the dictionary. But can we also put dictionary for the other terms which are not in kanji? Will change this to 5 star once I got feedback.
